I'm pretty sure the one I can get comes with warranty - I'll confirm it and let you know ASAP.
-
Yes it is. However you'd be spending US$1,000 to buy that one (roughly AUS$1,200), plus freight. I'd estimate at least $1,500 in total. I'm pretty sure I can get you one for about $1,200 if you want.

I'm amazed that a few of the Clubman kits use a Ford alloy five speed gearbox instead of the T50. I thought it would be easier to get a tailshaft modified than to get a bellhousing custom made.
-
I had heard about your stupidity - you stupid bastard. :lolcry: Good to have you back. How did the fitment of the smaller pulley go on the SC12? Or are you just going to fit the SC14 now?
-
A can of VB and circlips pliers - the basis for any good tool kit. :lolcry:

Birkin - http://www.birkin.com.au/Component_Kits_and_Pricing.php - admittedly that includes suspension components and many other bits. Nota - http://www.notasportscars.com/ I had a look at other kits, but these are typical of the pricing I found. Using the AE71 diff will make things a lot easier for you, but eliminates the possibility of an off the shelf LSD centre. A T-series would be ideal.

I don't race or own one, but have looked into kits for a project. Was thinking about taking the 4A-GZE out of my KE55 and dropping it in one of these. But I was disheartened when I saw that it would cost $20,000 minimum to get started. Would you attempt an IRS setup, or just go for a solid rear axle like so many of the 4A-powered Clubman's have?
-
Wasn't intended to be just a non helpful personal opinion. The fact is that many setup's use a low mounted turbo. Most factory turbo setup's use low mounted turbos. The setup's tend to be a lot neater, and there would be zero clearance issues with the distributor. However, as you've already got the high mount turbo manifold, I would have thought a 4A-GZE CAS would have been the best solution - cheap too. Failing that, the setup in the last image you posted appears to have the turbo angled so that the inlet is further away from the head, and the outlet closer (this is just the way it appears, may not be accurate). Not sure how this was achieved though - I would think it would require cutting and rewelding the flange on the manifold. Of course, that's just my non helpful personal opinion. :hmm:

Saving money this year, though I plan on entering the GT-Four in one drag and one circuit event this year. The other benefit is that I help NAMSC out all year, then I don't feel so bad about not being able to help at circuit racing next year. Will probably still run the motorkhanas next year though, so I keep giving back to the club rather than just taking. :hmm: And I would love to be able to buy the Microtech off you, but I don't have the funds. Will probably have to settle for a stock ECU for 2009 (& possibly 2010). I could get Lola's Microtech retuned, but REALLY don't want to.

Excellent news! VERY, VERY glad to hear it Daven. :hmm:

I've never actually seen a turbo mounted like that on a 4A-GE. I've only ever seen them pointing downwards. It just looks weird and messy the way you've got it mounted, Gregor. :hmm:

Slight change of plans (shock! horror!). I'm now thinking that the silvertop engine is the best solution in the TA22 IP car, as it is in better condition. It means I need an ECU and loom for it, but I may have a way of sourcing these - possibly. I was going to use Lola's 4A-GZE for the 2009 season, but that would mean I wouldn't be eligible for any placings, so it would seem pointless. Plus I don't want to try and have to source a restrictor for it - I know someone up here has just got one for an STi and it set them back $600 to make their car slower. :hmm: I'm also really wishing that the TA22 was an RA23/RA28 - then a 3S-GE/3S-GTE conversion would have been really easy. I could do the same to the TA22, but since a 4A-GE conversion is going to be so straight forward (easily installed, I've got the engines, etc) I may as well stick to that idea. Considering a 4A-GTE/7A-GTE option, but a straight up 4A-GE will be fine initially to get me into IP, and I can always upgrade later. Probably race with the 4A-GE for a few years and build up a 7A-GTE on the side. :y: I figure that 300-320hp (flywheel) should be quite achievable from a restricted 7A-GTE, even with Darwin's climate, with very strong mid-range torque. In a car as light as a TA22, that will be HEAPS of power, and assuming I can drive well enough, I would think it would be enough to get close to the current lap record.

Okay guys - here it is, NT Off-Topic. Even though it is called NT Off-Topic, don't abuse it - it's just NT General Discussion by another name. Here are the rules: 1). No spam 2). Keep it locally related - if you have something to say that is not related to local cars/events, post it in the RollaClub General area, either in Automotive Discussion or Off-Topic & Jokes. 3). No spam - can't you read? 4). All other RollaClub rules apply - they can be read here. Enjoy.
-
I don't know why the NT General Discussion thread was closed... :(
-
Going to move them around and tidy the area up, then drop the silvertop into the TA22 IP car. Then might try and get Alley's TA22 running with the 13T motor.
-
How about this - you guys come and help me out with my cars on ANZAC day (next Friday if you're an un-Australian bastard), then we'll do a bbq back at my place in Palmerston.
-
Well, Stephen (Pure-SX) seems to have lost interest because he feels there's over-moderation on here. Plus he's going to be selling the Corolla within the next twelve months to 'upgrade'. Don't know why Shane (wasfishing) hasn't been on here. Daven (sirolla) has not got a lot of time with his studies, but when he eventually gets back to Darwin (whenever that may be), I presume we'll see him more regularly. I still check regularly, but haven't felt the need to post much. I suppose we could hold a RollaClub event to get interest happening again, but the cruise I suggested didn't go down very well - no one seems to want to actually drive their cars any reasonable distance - it seems that sitting looking at the cars is more interesting. :( As for any others, who knows?
-
Yeah, that wouldn't be a good thing to do. Event cancelled.
-
You could do that. Or you could tell Shane to grow a pair and you ride with him. :)
-
We could do that I suppose, but I'm not a big fan of swimming. Oh well, I might just do a drive on my own. Or more likely get Anthony to come along with the S2000. :)
-
Because the only good roads anywhere near Darwin are out that way. NOWHERE else has any hills or good bends of any kind. I'm shitty that I've got to go that far and resort to something that's such a shitty version of what's available interstate. :) I'm also seriously considering driving the GT-Four down the east coast sometime in the future. Great Ocean Road would be good, plus many of the roads in Tasmania (yes, I'm considering going that far). If not the GT-Four, then Alisson's TA22 once it's DOHC & supercharged. :)
-
No worries Gregor - you're welcome to have a look at Lola sometime. Can't do it this weeked, but ANZAC Day weekend would be perfect, as I'll be working on my cars on Friday afternoon, but probably Saturday and Sunday afternoons as well.
-
Would any of you be interested in a night cruise to either Litchfield or Katherine? I've got the parts to fix the GT-Four and will be installing them ASAP. Once that's done I'll set a date, but I'd like to get feedback on a cruise before I set anything in stone.
-
I'll be sure to check it out Gregor. Are you going to need a hand dropping the 4A-C into the KE55?
-
Lola may be in parts by the show - depends if I decide to proceed with using the 4A-GZE in the IP car or a 4A-GE. Lola doesn't look as presentable as certain other vehicles. :)
