  1. into a ke10 nothing is going to be easy.. but i belive the mx5 motor has an ali sump...? mate is putting one into his escort and its required big mods. if the 4age sump needs mods to fit it'll be easier there because the sump is steel. apart from that they'd both take the same amount of stuffing about. 4age is a superior engine in the smaller capcity. the 2ltr outta the new ones is quite a good engine but cost and space will be a problem.
  2. jst buy a 5 speed then.. no need for a 6 speed. 5 speeds go for around $400
  3. if your thinking of the 1.6 don't bother better off with a 4age. one of the 100kw ones. more power than the 1.6 mazda engine. and if your thinking the 1.8 better off with a 4agze the 1.8 is only a bees dick better than the 1.6. unless.... you get the engine for next to nothing.
  4. +2 most people work during the week.
  5. well there are these... they may work... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/TOYOTA-COROLLA-KE10...rts_Accessories or there are these.. they will work but sit your engine a little lower or higher.. unsure which way but they will work anyways. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/TOYOTA-COROLLA-KE70...rts_Accessories
  6. well i went to my local shop again and a dude there was cluey enough about compressors. so they sold me the 6.5cfm compressor.. it delivers this at 90psi. which mean that at a measly 30 psi which is recommended by the devilviss site the compressor should have enough grunt... either way $600 later i should have one big enough.. if not.. which i'm doubting then i can always hook up my spare tank.
  7. thats the thing even with 2 pack you can't just stop half way around a car. leaves nasty dry spray.. i'm asking the question because i want to buy a new compressor. but i don't want to spend unnecessary money and get one thats waay more than needed.
  8. Ok so here is my question. i'm planning on buying a devilbiss gti pro spray gun. its an HVLP gravity fed gun, according to the website the gun uses 12cfm @30PSI now convert that to L/Min and thats a whopping 336L/Min. now a compressor that states a FAD of that or somewhere near costs 1k ish. and its not easy to find one without goin 3 phase power. so here's the weird thing from what i've read there are conflicting definitions to accompany FAD. some say MOST compressors show their FAD @ 90PSI and then some other material saying that FAD is rated at 1 bar. and now here is my other thought. i have succsessfully sprayed cars with a difffernt HVLP gun using a compressor as little as 6.5CFM (182L/min) and it was fine. i've spoken to my local total tools shop and they are saying that the 186l/min compressor will be enough.. but according to the devilbiss site and basing the FAD at 1 bar it just won't cut it. does anyone on this website do home jobs with HVLP's and smaller compressors? or is the FAD actually based at 90PSI? if the standard it FAD @ 90 PSI then yes that 186l compressor will be enough.. otherwise hell no. would anyone here knoe of another shop in adelaide that specialises in compressors and may know exactly what they are talking about.. (unlike total tools) cheers, Luc
  9. most mig welders can do either gas or gasless. gasless is fine for car panels.. jst spot weld and keep it cool.
  10. after going for another drive the tank is reading only 1/8th not a quarter. but its surprising how responsive the guage is.. when cornering hard it registers the slosh in the fuel.. stock ones don't seem to do that. so basically i need take the sender out and just lower it a bit. pretty easy its only like 2 screws.. jst a Pain in the ass to remove all the sound system gear and tank... again... i may leave it for now until i feel the need to install my intank fuel pump and regulator.
  11. what ya need mate.. shoot me a txt as i lost a bunch o numbers. how yr mate with the commo. bit shitty job but ay.
  12. nah its a speco guage with a matched sender.. i must have done my measurement wrong of the tank making the float read incorrectly.
  13. so after much stuffing about i have the fuel guage working. the temp guage and the tach. only the speedo left.. although the fuel gauge registers 3/4 on a full tank so methinks i need to pull it out again and remeasure and adjust.
  14. 3 guesses..?? too low?
  15. or jst sign up to photobucket... much easier.
  16. when... i'm keen.
  17. i have reversed eyes, overall 30mm drop extra leaf and anti tramp half leaf and i love it.. the rear end feels perfect in my car.
  18. ok so i purchased pilot lights.. 2 green 2 red 1 amber and one blue. sum total of $60!! didn't use the blue one after all. so so far i have the guage lights working.. the tach wired in and working.. the indicator lights working. something went wrong in my wiring and the temp guage sits on max when the car is running but reads correctly when on accessories. and the charge light and oil light stay on. will suss it tomorrow. hope to have the speedo and fuel gauge done by the end of the wkend. bought a new welder today so i'll be having fun building a nice new workbench!!
  19. yes helpful. thankyou. but this is what i have done... http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/showthrea...t=Speedo+sender this however i had to find the 3vz housing from the states. the local ones here were different. and it fits straight into the k box!
  20. sounds good... funds will be a problem?? quite an expensive conversion.. and that colour your looking at that'll be $500+ alone just for the colour.. not counting clear and primer. where does the kesev fit in all this?
  21. ah yes i didn't think of that and i have a dremel laying about as well. cheers!! i used the same method on some door trim on my partners old mx5. 6mm mdf had to be brought down to fit the normal door trim clips.!
  22. nah thats also a good process.. mean they a zinc plating them which is a very long lasting way to do it.. we don't have the tanks to do that at our work so we blast zinc PC then topcoat PC.
  23. yeah i kno that but i'm using 3mm mdf and the ones i looked at, at jaycar weren't deep enough. + i got that quilting which has wadding stitched into it which'll take up another 2mm or so. maybe the narva ones are deeper and have more thread.? maybe i don't know. but.... if i drill the hole only jst big enough.. the material might make the fit tight enough to make them a push fit. none of my gauges have solid mounting.. the fit into the hole is tight enough that they don't move. except one.. which i will chuck a bracket on.
  24. +2 for powdercoat.. jst make sure you get them primed for the longest lasting coating. there is stuff called E-prime. we give a 5 yr warranty on that... and then there is stuff called Zinc Prime. we give 10yr warranties on that.. instead of bead blast i'd go with a fines grade garnet blast. Beadblasting is very smooth and powder doesn't adhere as well. in saying this a polyurethane 2 pack paint if applied correctly and cured properly will be cheaper and still last for a very very long time...
  25. yes your right... but the bolt in ones will be a pain to install... i'll get some and try to do it.. if all fails i can jst retrim it again..
