  1. I did have a crack at it, I couldn't get the calipers off so I gave up... (I also got a bit scared the jack was going to break when I was reefing on the wrench to try and undo the calipers and the whole car moved) I only have one car left and I don't won't to break that one too! :no2:
  2. Yeh, I noticed that rear bar, the GP body parts are gold to hold on to, that's the best parts car lol I should of bought it lol :hmm: I attached a photo for you to add some motivation :P
  3. 2 new rotors with bendix ultimate pads put on, I'm eatting rice for a while $415 :sob: The mechanic said it was strange tho, he said my front rotors and pads look brand new ... rears had .5mm left, not enough to machine he said and pads maybe would of lasted another 5-10k Thank you all for helping out, too bad I couldn't do it myself this time round :blinks:
  4. That's rad, I didn't know that the rear lights are different sizes, looking good though :)
  5. I tried to find the 3SGTE AE82 (maybe it was a 92?) that did 10's that not bad for a arse dragger
  6. Ahhhh yeh ... it does sit a couple of mm further in than the back plate, hmmm maybe, but check out the pics looks like heaps of pad life left? On the other hand they were sweaking a couple of months ago but it stopped so I assumed all is well in the universe
  7. So it happens I pulled the wrong wheel off and attempted to fix a brake that was fine.... I went for a drive today, noise way worse, sounds like metal on metal all the time the wheel is spinning, I'm over it taking car to mechanic tomorrow morning. >| Question what is that Metal clip thing touching the rotor? (What ever it is, I bent it back to see if it was the culpret but it wasn't) I wish I had my Corolla running :rolls:
  8. What altezzaclub said makes sense... Otherwise, what I would do is get a calander (diary works too) and note the days it starts and those it doesn't, and eventually you'll know what days it will start on and then drive it then.... problem solved! (My guess check that your fuel pump doesn't have connection issues, fuel filter, battery charge?, coil pack, dizzy)
  9. I'm on the look out for a cheap EP82 parts car with coilovers, LSD, working engine, and other goodies, found a couple but I have to convence the boss on parting with some money... or .... wait until I move and have workshop again.... and at that time the parts cars are only going to get cheaper ..... hmmm
  10. Astra 1 - Tom - 0 :| At the risk of breaking my tools I couldn't get the calipers off, I released the pressure on the pads by adjusting some bolts put it all back together and went for a drive and no sound, however not sure if it was because the conditions are wet??? I did do 3 test stops and drove 50m's with the pressure on the brakes to warm them up, no sounds... yet...
  11. Thanks guys, I'll have a crack it today and see if I can find the issue :)
  12. No idea? I know OPEL at the end of the ASTRA production basically chucked bits of anything lying around to make complete cars, IE: my Astra has a AH (latest model) engine, apparently they did this with brakes too.. I found this: http://www.opelaus.com/forums/showthread.php?10793-TS-Astra-Handbrake-Adjustment ...
  13. I think it could be that brake that's causing the sound too... how do I stop glazing?... stuck caliper? EDIT: Thanks Rian, if all fails I'll pull apart the caliper clean her out and put that stuff on.
  14. It's pretty random, sounds like metal on metal like the caliper is catching sometimes... but that doesn't make any sense, another thing I noted is that when I pull hand brake the noise goes away also the hand brake is a lot looser then normal .... I wonder if MIDAS does that 'free' brake inspection hehe :P
  15. Nope! but I will try that tomorrow morning, you reckon a rock or something could be stuck in there?
  16. Hey guys, My Holden Astra 1.8 TS 2004 has one rear brake squeaking, it first started last week when I was just driving along and it was random and now it's becoming an ongoing sound! It only dissappears when I hit the brake pedal, so I thought yep pads are on the way out, but looking at them, they have heaps of meat left on them... any ideas? Running Bendix Ultimate DB1424 fronts and Bendix Ultra Premium pads DB1511 Photos: P1580857 & P1580858 Front right P1580859 - Front left P1580862 - Rear right <-- I think it's this one P158065 - Rear left
  17. Thanks for sharing Rob, looks like a whole bunch of fun.
  18. Well if you're ever coming to Brisbane let me know and I'll show you around, unfortunately Australia is one of those exy countries to travel, actually I'm reading a book by Ted Simon called Jupiter's Travels (inspired long way down) - Ted rides a bike around the world in the 70's and back then Australia still has a reputation of being exy to travel.
  19. Hey Justin, welcome to Rollaclub mate, my wife and I just watched a travel doco on Indonesia - looks amazing
  20. Cheapest way is to fill up with premium fuel :) (and like Twinky said, regular services ie: oil & filter)
  21. Any more pics of videos Rob?
  22. Someone very close to me calls me up at work and tells me the Eunos 500 has failed to start again and its to costly to keep fixing, so she called a car wrecker to come pick it up and dispose of it. However she did save the CD headunit face and CD Stacker (but not the CD player itself only the face). Some history now: I found the car at a dealership for my mum who purchased it for $25,000.00 in the light 90's, it was 1994 model Eunos (Mazda) 2.0ltr V6 5sp manual with complete Fulcrum suspension upgrade and leather interior, the car cornered better then any other car I have driven to this day. My mum went to the USA so the car was given to this particular person. (I loved that car, a lot of good memories where had in that car, and it would of made an awesome track car) When I got that phone call I swore that hard a sailor would of been offended. http://www.cardomain...994-eunos-cosmo <-- Here is a Eunos 500 so you know what I'm talking about, that's what was given away :( (note: note the actual car but one just like it) **** Edited to be nice :P ****
  23. I love this thread, we need more feel good stories :)
