  1. Well I'm surprised :) Still the fastest EL31 in the world!
  2. That sounds awesome, I can't wait to see it.
  3. Re: article, that's his side of the story, we can't make a judgement unless we know all the facts, let's say what he said is true, then I believe it's unfair. At the end of the day it really depends on what kind of cop you get (and how many), if you're not a smartarse, and genuinely believe you're not in the wrong, take what the officer is saying on board whilst expressing your side of the story in a dignified manner. If the cop is in a good mood and is a decent type, you'll get a slap on the wrist, they want to avoid work, trust me. On the other hand, you may get rookie who wants the experience and is out to impress his OIC / partner, or worse the 'hot fuzz' cop and you argue until the cows come home and get nowhere, and by all means take it further if you think you didn't do anything wrong. I've seen cops also get done for traffic infringements which they can't get out of no matter how hard they try. So there isn't a way out of it even if you're sworn in. Laws apply to everyone you just need some common sense, decent people skills, and most importantly good luck! If you take it further, do some research on understanding the relevant legislation & regulation and the appeal process
  4. Life is all about new experiances and learning, I'll be 30 soon and I have so many plans in life, but easily destracted (hence I'm writing this post isn't of doing uni lol). Thanks for tip on stripping it down to bare metal, I did that when I was 10 to my BMX, I always wanted a chrome BMX so I sandpapered all the paint off it, I had a chrome BMX for the day, next day it was rusty ...and the rusty look wasn't 'in' for another 15years... Are you decided on what your going to do with body? I suppose no wide body kit resembling a WRC car is not on order?
  5. Carbonboy, Awesome thread, I've stayed up for a couple of hours now reading it and enjoying immensely, all the photos I bet don't do it justice (I've put my uni assignment on hold lol, its 230am and I was suppose to be in bed before midnight but I couldn’t drag myself away from your thread). Your attention to detail is impressive, in today's world that's a rare quality to find, as well as your dedication and perseverance. What you’re doing with your Corolla is what I've being planning to do with mine (when it finally gets a home :( ), however you have managed to put me off (with how much work is involved, I don’t even want see my spare wheel tub lol) and inspire me at the same time. I can't wait to see the finished product. All the best mate. P.S: If someone hits you again when the cars finished, I'll be coming down to sort them out.
  6. That is WRX retro coolness :) I love it.
  7. Where is the Jaguar Heritage warehouse? your one lucky man :) Did you take any pics of the cars we will never see? I remember when I was 16 I found a 1957 jaguar mark 2 in an old antiques shop up near Toowoomba, it was covered in dust and had crap all over it, I wanted that to be my first car, then I remembered Jags are renowned for being unreliable and parts are scarce ... so I did the next best thing a bought a GP Turbo ... which was also renowned for being unreliable, and don't even mention parts lol ...
  8. It reminds me of this classic portugal barn find: A New York man retired. He wanted to use his retirement money wisely, so it would last, and decided to buy a home and a few acres in Portugal. The modest farmhouse had been vacant for 15 years; the owner and wife both had died, and there were no heirs. The house was sold to pay taxes. There had been several lookers, but the large barn had steel doors, and they had been welded shut. Nobody wanted to go to the extra expense to see what was in the barn, and it wasn't complimentary to the property anyway... so, nobody made an offer on the place. The NY guy bought it at just over half of the property's worth; moved in, and set about to tear in to the barn - curiosity was killing him. So, he and his wife bought a generator and a couple of grinders... and cut thru the welds. http://www.intuh.net...finds/afa70.htm http://www.sportscarmarket.com/news/2709-portuguese-barn-find-fact-or-fiction <-- Is it an urban myth
  9. Hey guys, I stumbled across this, I think you'll enjoy: lonely but brand new E20 Toyota Corollas showing only 38km on their odometers, abandoned http://japanesenosta...one/#more-16194 P.S: I did some searching around on the net for a trip I planned eariler this year, and you can import cars from cypruss, I think its around 2k or 3k landed. Imagine a fully restored example with 38km's on the clock, that would be worth a overrated.
  10. Nice story :) least you knew it had a had a good home. Reminds me of when I joined a gym on the southside of Brisbane and my personal trainer saw my Corolla II GP Turbo and told me the guy I bought it off is his mate, who purchased it from a old Japanese gentlemen who brought it over here privately, then I heard all crazy stories of them trashing the life out of it, which would explain the condition it's in. :(
  11. The inteior looks great, I'm happy you got rid of the yellow detailing, I'm going to keep an eye out for parts for you, PM me with what you need so I know what to look out for. P.S: Check your compliance plate, I doubt your EL31 is a 86 model.
  12. Nice to see a fellow GP Turbo owner on here, I love your car mate, your a lucky man.

  13. Hey man, No big deal, Look for the EL series cars and they should fit, worst case you may need to reuse the top-plate from your current suspension. Apparently the EP82 starlet ones fit into 3 of the 4 holes on the top plate, otherwise just replace the top plate and that should work. I haven't had a look at my Corolla now in 3yrs :( but from what I can remember that's how it was, also, check out Japanese auctions and look for EP70/71 starlet shocks - they should be a direct swap. All the best
  14. are you sure that's a hilux? looks like a frontier to me ? lol, ahhh there are two posts... now it all makes sense :rolls:
  15. Hey guys, My hot water system blew up, ..... a week ago and I was just out bidded on a system on ebay.... :( So, I'm after a small LPG system that runs on bottled gas to provide hot water for a single bathroom & kitchen. I don't have huge budget, if you can help me out please reply or drop me a personal message. I'm in Brisbane/Ipswich area (between the two)
  16. Good advice, you reakon the shop will charge me to get em off? mine are 195/60/15 .... guy at bob jane refused to give me 195/50/15
  17. Should I just buy new tyres and let the shop deal with it ? :rolls:
  18. Hey guys n girls. About 10mins ago, I was beaten by my Astra >| I thought I'll do a wheel rotation, as the rear wheels haven't been replaced in a year or so, so I jacked it up, unscrewed all the lug nuts and attempted to pull the wheel off the hub. It wouldn't budge! I'm not a small kid, I'm 110kg, solid build and resonable fit. I smashed the shit out of the wheel and it didn't budge no matter what I did. I even lowered the car back onto the ground without lug nuts and it didn't make a difference to break free. Any ideas? Also, I'm after some new tyres, any ideas for some quiet cheap performance tyers that will get good miles? I'm in Brisbane
  19. Toothbrush in a 4EFTE engine block because I'm tight and some what lazy, I sticky taped my toothbrush to sparkplug socket to get the reach I needed to take the plug off, the reach wasn't long enough and the toothbrush with socket got stuck in the hole for a week. I had to go to the shop and buy long noised pliers to get it out, I had some bad breath for that week.
  20. Raven thanks for the link, that's an awesome vid David Belle did - I'm 99% sure he did the jump from roof top into window on Bourne Supremacy too... unreal fitness, something to aspire to.
