  1. We share the same dream!!! but instead of body work, mine is wiring hehe  Hold on! what do you mean rego? how close are you to rego? holy crap you're going to win! (we can also do a bike race lol)
  2. lol sleep... I just take my time  Good advice about raising it up in stages, didn't really think about it, not sure how uneven ground is a good thing tho?? :blinks: My new axle stands seem to be a mix of both, the tops are like yours, but the bottoms are like your father-in-laws.
  3. Random pics from tonight working on the car, Ever wonder whats behind the dash of a EL31 Toyota Corsa??? (not even once?) Well just in case you do: I'm planning to strip everything out, and put it aside. Wiring sucks
  4. I posted this tonight in the Technical section, however I'll repost it here too unless you missed it over there. Hey guys Background: My Rolla II GP Turbo had a 4EFTE (Starlet GT) engine slotted in by some dodgy mechanics around 7years ago, not even a month later the car was undriveable due to numerous issues which I couldn't address at the time, so it was put into storage. Recently a fellow rollaclub member gave me a car like mine with the same engine transplant for me to use as a parts car so I could get my car going again. Main Issue: During the engine swap 7 years ago the #&*@ stupid &@$!% mechanic didn't change the ECU over, so my 4EFTE (1.3ltr, 16v DOHC Turbo) was running an ECU designed for a 3ETE (1.5ltr, 12v SOHC Turbo engine). The Situation, Thinking the problem was just a simple(?) engine loom swap, I pulled the loom out of the parts car and I was going to plug it upto my engine, connect the ECU and job done. However! my engine has a lot more stuff connected then the parts car did, and when I was sitting in my engine bay tonight, it didn't feel right pulling the loom out. After closer inspection of the loom that's in the GP, it looks like the #&*@ stupid &@$!% mechanic did splice it, but I have no idea what he did, however I do have a 4EFTE and 3ETE loom diagram so I could work it out. Would you: a), Attempt to splice the current loom yourself to accommodate the 4EFTE ECU, or b), Unplug the current spliced 3ETE loom and replug the 4EFTE loom. Thank you, Tom. P.S: I know what I'm leaning towards, but I rather see what you say as my experience on working on cars is next to nothing. To see the engine loom pics with blue electrical tape where it appears it was spliced, check out - Technical Thread

  6. Awesome, thanks for the tips, Tho I've had major issue, I can't seem to locate the diff you speak of on my (fwd) corolla :P maybe it needs one of those hmmm :hmm: From what I've read, the car can slide off the axle stands when four are used.
  7. Ladies and Gents, I was about to go and jack up my Rolla and stick some jack stands under it, but then I read you're not suppose to put a car on 4 jack stands? :blinks: Any thoughts on this? I was planning to put the jack stands on each one of the jacking points and place the tyres under the car (also on uneven slopping dirt surface but that's besides the point...)
  8. You guys are seriously messed up :lolcry: Once I asked and I qoute "Do I even need a crank?" :hmm: when talking about engine modifying.
  9. Your car is awesome! thanks for sharing the video clips too, it beat a whole bunch of AWD super-cars around a track!!! :y: :y: :y: Also, Welcome to Rolla-Club!
  10. Ben that things crazy! wheel spinning everywhere! Rob, I checked prices on those gearboxes :o (I would have to sell my car many many many times over to afford it!)
  11. Tell me about it Teddy, I'm still living in 2006 :P Last time I saw you was at Nick's place when he had a crack at changing the pads on my Rolla. Hope your doing well. I purchased two of these today, so I have four of them. A bit over-kill as Maxi only weighs 900kg's but better to be safe than sorry! **EDIT** If you want to pick up some of these, now is the time! there on special for $35 - check your junk mail, their Super!
  12. Hey guys, I found this video of rally car crashes in Finland has no stupid music but raw sounds, it seems it keeps getting taken down for some unknown reason. I was going to say, enjoy it but I don't think you can enjoy peoples misfortunes unless their doing something stupid and falling over  Maybe think of this as a learning tool of what could happen to you if you're rallying your Rolla and make a mistake? Rally Crashes (Raw)
  13. It's running awesomeness (and a 4AGE) towe001 do you know where I could find specs on the car ??
  14. heh too true, Ok, I don't have a picture of the face (I can't put it up as it may scare members off), but if you really want to do it, you need to combine the following you'll get an idea of what I mean: 1st step 2nd Step 3rd Step Last step And NO ONE!! will ever go near you and your Rolla! **EDIT** But remember, do NOT mix up the combination!
  15. Only time anyone can view my car, is via a Rollaclub event day :) - otherwise I put on my 'leave me & my car alone' face. >|
  16. I don't normally post stuff like this, but thought it's to good not to share. In car 4AGE EP82 Starlet - Rally Barbados Footage of how car looks from outside (Warning: Shaky) Roof view (Awesome) :y: Enjoy :)
  17. Awesome Phil, thanks for the offer!
  18. Thanks mate, I completely forgot about the button  (1 question took me 2 nights! not even sure if its right... 10 more to go! ) I'll have to get under it for a proper look for that plug, I assume it's like the sump? I also need to get some axle stands, a couple of the major retailers have some specials, tho not sure how axle stands are going to work on uneven dirt surface :blinks:
  19. FYI - I'm offline for this week, I have a uni assignment due, Maxi will have to wait a little bit longer. EDIT: In order to drain the fuel tank do I just undo one of those pipes??? The next part in the project: Plus Plus
  20. I pulled the whole dash out of the parts car (photos coming soon), however ummm I don't think I need it ??? Basically ... now I'm going to sound really stupid???.. but it seems the ECU plugs were all fitted directly to the engine loom, none actually were connected to the dash loom? :blinks: I'm really confused now. Good news is that I disconnected the whole engine loom and its out of the car, only had to snip two wires, one wire to altanator and the other under the intake manifold... I guess I'll work out what that one does later... :hmm: Also, any thoughts on this old wheel... Nardi leather steering wheel (oct 1992) with carbon tape (I think it looks kinda cool)
  21. I think mine is the same! :) lol if its not... snip snip snip :hmm:
  22. I was seriously considering it, but it's black and my interior is blue .. I think it would like strange blue / black trim... and I think mine in better condition.. It's a pain but by the looks of it each plug is different to the next so technically everything should unplug and then move it over to my car and replug... that's the plan :rolls:
  23. You know you could do this professionally... if you did and I had the money I wouldn't hesitate! (I cleaned up GT MTB today and went for ride, also came home and cleaned up old peugeot custom racer I made years ago) How did you learn how to restore cars like this? :blinks:
