  1. Nice!!! Your rolla is going to be a track beast
  2. I just called Toyota they told me to use silicon there, and no o ring goes there! :-)
  3. Wife's mum should be out of hospital soon (I haven't been working on the car as I'm reno'ing her house for her so she gets a nice surprise when shes out), fingers crossed. So true about working on the car and takes your mind off everything else, every man needs a shed, garage, work space to get away from it all.... hehe now I just have to get mine to the damn garage!!!! lol True about the quote :) P.S: Do you think I make a rubber seal from a rubber band? or can I actually buy a rubber seal separately from the major part? (lol I'm not normally this dodgy)
  4. Thats awesome ... best way to learn is to have someone hows knows what there doing supervising :)
  5. lol that's exactly what I was thinking... tho Telstar>? least the others are Toyota's .... suppose a Mazda is at least Japanese :P Like Justin said, good work on upgrading neigbours!
  6. Your Rolla looks awesome, nice pics too
  7. Yeh don't keep us waiting.... we demand pic's lol .... don't make us come around and unwrap your xmas gifts :P
  8. I hope you don't have as much trouble as I do, I actually hope you don't have any trouble at all!!! Damn, what's the deal with coolant hoses and pipes, the amount of crap that lives in there is amazing, I think my engine has some kind of ecosystem going on lol About my missus, well lately she has had to get to hospital quickly whilst she was at work and I have our daily at my work, so kind of unfortunate circumstances has lead to the realisation that having access to two cars is important. I must say the last two years on my life have been the hardest - I see it as character building anyhow I have enough real life stress I like to forget it all and come on here so back to fixing Maxi, In hind sight, it would of been better to just do a straight engine swap from the parts car to my car ... lol
  9. Ok its 2 nuts and 1 bolt... sneeky bolt is on the bottom... now just have to make a new rubber seal for it :/ I checked out the plugs again... i had ngk with that dual tip anyways the turned into one tip that crumbled away in my hand anyhow fitting a coolant hose behind the engine and under the intake manifold is great fun :/ i have to stop whinging like a little girl lol when the rolla will be in the garage i'll be happy ... Other good news is the misses has noticed benefits of having two cars..
  10. sorry about the recent posts, I've been using my mobile phone to post messages lately as no net in new place yet... Anyhow, so tonight I'm spending a fair amount of time on the car and I've pulled the plugs off, they were really fouled up, so I'll give them a clean and wack em back in, as for the fuel filter, I took it off the parts car, it's a complete different filter in my car, so looks like i have to buy another and wack that on, but here is the shit moment of the night that made me pack up tools, I'm not sure if I mentioned it, but I had buster heater hose right, well I thought it was a heater hose (pulled that off for no reason and it's a real bi&ch to get back on!) it turns out to be a rusted out water pipe that goes from the heater house outlet, as soon as I touched it it basically fell off :( So, does the bit that the thermostat plug into bolt off? and how? Not my engine, but to give you an idea what part I am talking about:
  11. So what's the surprise.. don't keep us waiting like this :P
  12. That's pretty cool, thanks for sharing!
  13. Thanks man, I'm slowly learning about fixing cars... i didnt end up going last night .... needed a mental break for my sanity! I'm happy you moved your last neighbor is s tool he should be charged with aiding a crime, i still can't believe they didnt do anything. Going back tonight to work on the rolla, depending on weather.
  14. Thanks Ben, Things I'll try tomorrow: 1, replace fuel filter 2, replace MAP sensor 3, replace leads and dizzy cap 4, replace coil 5, spark plugs 6, ????????? 7, ?????????
  15. Hey Trev, would the fuel filter change the way the car performs under load? Update - So we finally are in our new place, and I have a garage space waiting for Rolla, I left work early to see if I could get the car started so I can take it to our new place, now some strange stuff happened, I pulled the intercooler off and the car started first go? wtf? So I'm thinking blocked intercooler, so I put the other on and it's all good, I chuck in the old battery and car still starts, even better, so everything is hooked up and bolted up, so I decide I'll do a little test drive around the yard. The car took off nicely in reverse down the hill, so i put it into 1st to drive back up the little hill and the thing starts sputtering and idle went nuts, and died. now the car refuses to move under-load, and even better ... now refuses to start, I checked ever single little air hose, wire, anything that was different, I took off the intercooler and tried, same story, put it back on, same story, pulled the air-filter off, checked all the plugs, nothing... I'm F#*&ing over it. The car is now sitting in the middle of the yard in facing the neighbors that I'm 99% broke into my house and I'm all out of ideas? EDIT: Just googling issues, apparently if this happens on a BMW it could be an airflow sensor or temp sensor, or a bad fuel pressure regulator or ECU that sh&t itself. I really want to avoid towing it :( if it's still in one piece tomorrow. EDIT: Things I'll try tomorrow: 1, replace fuel filter 2, replace MAP sensor 3, replace leads and dizzy cap 4, replace coil 5, ????????? 6, ????????? 7, ?????????
  16. I also purchased a trolly jack tho only a 1400kg little fella but should be fine for a 800kg car. I can't wait to get Maxi into the garage and up on axle stands and start stripping it down, and turn him into a trackcar with rego. Also learn how to do more technical stuff my self. Things to do: Suspension - straight swap and later coilovers Brakes - upgrade to GT rotors on front Turbo - bolt on highflow ct9/12 Exhaust - upgrade to 3" system The good news is i have all the parts to do above, (minus coilovers).
  17. I purchased a new battery today, still the same issue... i thought the old one wasnt holding charge, .. Feels like 3 steps forward 2 steps back at the moment ...
  18. Sorry to hear about your dog, hope he feels better, nasty break :(
  19. Sooooo.... i thought ill fix the broken heater hose this morning and now car wont start again... i broke it somehow, sorry Justin :( I put more fuel in and even jumper leads on... still nothing.. just cranks over.... it better not be a broken fuel pump lol EDIT: I've been to sick lately to even get out of the house to check it out, hwoever starting to feel a little better so maybe this weekend I'll have it running :) (fingers crossed)
  20. What are you wiring up? instead of removing the power steering can you beef up the pipes and connectors so they don't fail?
  21. It's all Carbonboy, don't concede defeat yet my friend, my wife told me that we don't need two cars, as it's double rego, double insurance, double fuel bills, double parking fees etc etc etc... so I conceded defeat against the arguement of registering the car, and also mentioned that it will happen only when I'm happy with the car! I still need Front mount kit, new clutch, and other misc stuff ... which will take me some time to raise the funds. I will know your pain of stuff in boxes very soon!
