  1. harvie cool car. i had the ke10 at the rollaclub cruise starting in dandenong last year and we had a chat. i have just picked up a ke15. hope it looks as good as yours one day! least i think it was you i was talking to anyways :P
  2. oops double post!
  3. Love the colour and the interior. The K engine is a little on the slow side - I put a really good nick 4k in my old Ke10 and it turned it into a great car.
  4. Rodger is the man when it comes to Solexes.
  5. The coolant is still going to get pushed through the radiator by the water pump, so I can't see it being a big issue for cooling. Radiator place would know best though.
  6. Get the outlet moved as redwarf has done. Definitely the best solution - that is what has been done on my club racer.
  7. The smell of bacon couldnt put you off bacon surely, it would just make you want more :P
  8. Here is a crappy video from the weekend!
  9. hehe i was thinking the same thing... planning for Christmas in April? I don't know what I am doing next month let alone at Christmas lol
  10. http://myworld.ebay.com.au/geta99/ this is the guy in SA - I bought one for a KE10 off him last year. I would suggest contacting him and asking him if he does a KE17 - my KE10 one wasn't for sale when I wanted one, but I emailed him and he put one up and I bought it straight away.
  11. there is this guy in victoria - doesn't list a KE17 but he might do a custom one. Let me know if he does as I am going to be looking for one some time too! http://www.autocables.com.au/default.asp
  12. Ran at the Phillip Island Hill Climb on Sunday. What a cracker of an event! 8 runs were available and you get 2/3rds of a lap as they start at Honda and use the start finish line.. and you can press on and do nearly a full lap despite a chicane before turn 1 and turn 3. Its a massive challenge to get yourself off the line quickly with no heat in the tyres and through the amazing sequence of corners that makes up the back part of the GP circuit..Then you get to go flat out through the last two turns and end up going rather rapidly down the straight. Magic magic magic. I got faster for most of the day, first run was a1.17.something... which I got down to a 1.12.95 on my fifth run. 6th and 7th runs were a bit slower - 1.13.16 and I elected to go home after that rather than run the 8th. Car was ultra-reliable again. Had a moment or two on the track which was fun rather than changing the undies scary... If I had a log book I think my times would have put me 2nd in the 0-1600cc Improved Production class, which is where the car would run. However in the non-log book class I was 4th I think - there were some serious cars in that class. Will post up some pics and vids tonight.
  13. OK K engine gurus.. rollaclub diagnostic services required. As tow truck drivers were dicking me about, I took the challenge and decided to drive this little beast back to work where it will be living for a little while. Started and purred away and let it idle to warm up while I organised a vicroads temp rego. Drove away no real dramas though I think the rear brakes are seized-ish. However after only a kay or so the oil smoke cloud behind me was pretty nasty, and power dropped right off. So i decided I didn't want to toast it, pulled over, called another towie and came back on the back of a flat bed. When it got back here, it started up fine, no real smoke cloud, and no horrible noises from the engine - in fact the boys here commented on how quiet it is. So any ideas what would cause a drop off in power and lots of blue smoke when the engine is warm and under load??
  14. Yes they do have holes in them for the head rests, with little plugs in the holes.
  15. Update - this thing is amazing! New battery, a little bit of "Start Ya Bastard" down the carby throats and she fired up. Idles perfectly and in a quick run around the block seems to purr like a kitten. No coughs or hiccups! Brakes are dodgy, but that could be just me forgetting about lack of vacuum assistance. Home tomorrow on a tow truck, and then we can get into the clean up :hammer:
  16. No didn't come up on ads... found it though "connections" :hammer:
  17. Shel I was talking to someone yesterday about a KE 2 door they wanted to sell. I don't have much info other than its down on the Peninsular and its an auto. Let me know if you want the details.
  18. ke20nut - can't reply to your PM as you have elected to not receive PM's apparently
  19. Thanks for all the compliments guys :hammer: I agree its score of the year.. buggered if I know where I am storing it yet, but one problem at a time hehe. It has one large oval filter in that air-filter housing.
  20. Will take some more photos for you no worries. Thanks for the tip on the hub caps. Might do the hire car trick of cable ties.. which stops them falling off. Doesn't stop theives though I guess :hammer:
  21. The RA23 will get finished one day.. but I had an itch that needed scratching now rather than another 12 months away hehe
  22. Hi all I have been missing having a fun weekend car that I can take on cruises etc and have been keeping an eye out for something classic and preferably in original condition. That search led me to this little gem. Its a 1969 KE15 SL Sprinter with just over 90,000km on the clock. Was owned by a 95 yo (!!!!) marine engineer, who hasn't driven it in the last 4 or 5 years, but up to then was his pride and joy. I dealt with his daughters who wanted it to go to a loving home, and fortunately they decided I was the perfect second owner! They were apparently never allowed to drive it when they were growing up, it was his car and his car only! it had a flat battery so it wouldn't start today, but I suspect she will fire up and run with out too much difficulty. Interior is very good - overrated dash top, that great sports steering wheel, plastic on the sunvisors. Drivers seat has tears along the seams, but that is easy enough to sort out and carpet is buggered. Interestingly it looks like its a two tone pattern carpet - I would love to see what it looked like new. Exterior is very straight. Has a spot of rust in the drivers door and surface rust on the boot, roof and bonnet from where its been polished to an inch of its life. Bumpers are straight but need a rechrome and the tail lights are pretty faded (look for a wanted ad soon!) Plans will be to tidy it up, get it registered again and driver her around. Repaint at some point I guess. Maybe some whitewalls, a bowls hat and a venetian to finish off the Grandpa Spec :hammer: Here are some pics:
  23. Hehe.. I like how you think... I think the same way. Pics just for interest sake!
  24. What model Toyota? There are generally a few listed by the hubcapman on www.oztion.com.au Come up on ebay from time to time too.
  25. That looks great! Welcome
