Well two weeks into ownership I have given the old girl a wash, a good clean inside, an oil change and a coolant change.
The old bloke who used to own it must have been a short ass. He had some timber blocks in under the rear mounts for the drivers seat, propping it up about 20mm. No wonder it felt weird when I was driving it!
A good wash indicates it needs a respray so that the surface rust is attended to. Doors have a bit of rust in the bottoms, but that is the only real bad rust to speak of.
Drivers seat is buggered and needs re-trimming. Rear seat has a few spots where the seams have split, but can be re-sewn so all good on that front.
Engine is going to need a rebuild I think. Pretty sure the smoke clouds are telling me rings are gone!
There seems to be a poorly done repair around the rear boot badge. Paint is different colour and almost brushed on. THe Toyota badge is held on by three self tappers! So will be on the hunt for one of those eventually
Here are some more pics...
Boot is amazingly clean and straight
Carpets are pretty damned good considering their age.. apart from the drivers side which is knackered. The little silver rings you can see are actually holding press studs to hold the carpet down on mounts in the floor - I don't know if this is factory or done by the owner
This is a little tag on the ventilation controls explaing their settings. Apparently all the KE1*'s had this when they were delivered. (got to get rid of that clock on the console I think!)
Seats are generally in sensational shape, apart from drivers seat and some tape holding split stitching on the rear seat.
Engine bay cleaned up ok
