My first KE10 was cool and I wish I had the funds and space to have kept it. But I didn't so it had to move on. I bought it as I changed jobs and didn't get a company car straight away. I wanted something with some chrome and a bit of old school style so started looking on here for an old Corolla - originally thinking a KE20. Then I heard about Peter Robinson who is just around the corner from my place. Stuck my head in, asked if he had anything for sale. He started with showing me a FWD AE9* machine, but I said "Pete, I was thinking something with a bit of chrome" He smiled and said I have just the thing, and sure enough there was this gorgeous KE10. It was an auto which was the only downside, but it was pretty much a one owner machine and the body was straight, the interior was clean and it looked great. It served me well for 6 months, aside from the original K engine expiring on a cruise through the hills. A 4K motor made it a sensational daily though. I got a new company car, and the mortgage interest rates were at their peak, so I decided to sell her. Took ages to find a buyer and I took a pretty big hit on the price, but it ended up going to a guy I know through work (who bid for it on ebay unbeknown to both of us!) and he uses it as a weekend fun car now. So I am happy that it will get looked after well. My KE15 Sprinter was a real bit of luck. The grape vine contacted me and asked if I would be interested in a one owner KE15 Sprinter. Of course I was! So I raced over to where it was, heard all about its fussy owner from his daughters, and promised them it would go to a good home. I spent some time cleaning it up, and working out what it would need to restore (panel and paint and engine rebuild), and realised it was going to be a bigger task than I had the time/energy/commitment for. At the same time a guy in Ireland made me an offer almost too good to refuse. I liked the idea of it staying here though, and then Parrot came along :y:

Celica Ta22 Engine Swap - Whats Possible?

2TG will be the easiest and cheapest bolt in solution. These are a twin cam 8 valve head version of your 2T-B motor. Can be found with twin carbs or EFI. If you want some more work you could get a 3T bottom end and mate the 2TG head to it, which gives a useful increase in capacity and torque. Then there is the some what rarer 3TGTE. Still pretty much a bolt in proposition I think. Factory turbo, twin spark plug, twin cam head. Getting hard to find these days. Then there is the 4AGE. which are often modified with a turbo for more grunt. Installing a 4AGE will require some fabrication I imagine as its not just a bolt in job. Then the sky is the limit depending on how much modification you want to do. -
brakeswest on ebay sells them for $145 new. I got quoted a trade price of over $200 at Bursons, so I went with the brakeswest one.

Try googling sigma corolla LCA. I know its pretty difficult to do, but give it a shot some time That brought me this thread link http://www.toymods.net//forums/showthread.php?t=13452 You will probably need to sign up to read it though. Your agro approach won't cut it on that forum though, so you might think about pulling your head in.

More work in the driveway this weekend. Fitted up a Pajero Master Cylinder which has improved the brake pedal feel massively. One snag I ran into was the MC I used (JB1712 from Brakewest on ebay) does not have a conical seat in the front brake outlet. So the brake line screws in, but the flare in the line doesn't seal against anything. I believe I can get a banjo fitting to screw in there, that will then accept the standard brake line. Hope so! Also did my first ever home grown wheel alignment. If I did it all correct, then I have ended up with a couple of mm of toe out, and probably 2 degrees negative camber. I say probably as my driveway is far from flat. Checking the camber the first time came up with 3 degreess on one side and 1 on the left. Thought I might have a bent strut, but after talking to a motor racing mate, he suggested turning the car around and checking it then. Sure enough the camber shifted - 3 degrees on the other side and - 1 degree where it was 3. So I reckon its probably 2 each side when I get it on a flat patch. Took it for a drive around the block to see if anything was going to fall off. Nothing did, and it felt all rather different. Steering was lighter and nose didnt drop when I put my foot on the brake pedal. It feels all a bit weird, but am hoping that its just cos its all rather different to when I last drove it. Sandown next Sunday will tell :)

Pitch is right on my car. Front one screwed all the way in as far as it goes. Rear didn't but that would be because it seated against the cone.

Suspension... Everyone Has Already Asked!

Evan likes to be sure apparently :) -
Brake shop should be able to fit a banjo fitting to the front outlet and then it will be all good. Thats what someone else has report. I am going to take my brake line in and have a go tomorrow.

Cool I was hoping that was the case. Damn another brake bleed coming up, have done three or four now!!

No change at Centre Rd Wreckers really. There was a greeny KE35 with what seemed to have good door trims and seats if anyone is looking. There were two KE30's sitting in the carpark with hold on the windscreen, not sure if they were going to get taken into the yard or not. Had chrome bumpers on them.

I fitted the JB1712 MC to my KE35 yesterday. Have run into a snag. The front brake line outlet doesn't have a tapered seat for the brake line to seal against, and as a result my front brake line is weeping. Did yours do this? Wondering if there is a fitting I can screw into it which will then allow me to use the brake line I have...
-
When you do put the MC check that both brake line inlets have a cone shape seat inside them - I bought JB1712 - and the front line doesn't have a cone shaped seat. This means the brake line screwed all the way in, but didn't seal against anything so its weeping fluid. Not sure how to solve this yet, will do some investigating Monday. I think I can probably buy some kind of fitting to solve this...

Bks - Ke70 Panda Style Budget Project

Good basis for a project car. Where did you pick it up? -
Thanks for the tip. I also have a brake bleeder hose with a one way valve in it that helps do a similar thing. I still have habits I can't get out of though, and still think a good pressure bleed gives best results! I haven't done it yet as I decided part of my spongey pedal was the master cylinder being too small, so have a Pajero one to fit this weekend. Then its Sandown on July 26th for my first hit out with all the new gear. Fingers crossed it goes OK and I go faster!

Just fixed up some broken photolinks. Stupid imageshack losing images.

An LSD out of a AE86 Sprinter is what you are after. Can be bought here from many suppliers aftermarket, or second hand out of Japan. TRD, KAAZ, Cusco are just some of the brands. There is heaps and heaps of information relevant to you on www.ae86drivingclub.com.au - I would suggest you go there and read up. Ae86 and TE71 are effectively the same chassis with a different body on top I believe. Lots of performance parts are made for the AE86, which makes upgrading your car quite easy.

Old crowns rock! I would suggest signing up to toymods, as there is a dedicated crown thread there and lots of good information for them. There used to be a really good site called classic crown or something that was a good repository of information, but it disappeared when msn changed their website stuff. The mooneyes crown website in japan has some awesome photos on it if you need inspiration.

This sounds like it might be a pad material problem. When its cooler your pads haven't warmed up and it takes a few applications as you start driving before they get some heat into them. Weird if the car is running pretty standard spec's though, more of a problem with performance oriented pads.

Dandenong Rebores in Dandenong are good with older engines. They have been around for years and know their stuff and charge a fair price.
