I have been on the acquisition trail again. Really wanted Konig Rewinds for it but couldn't find any at the time I needed them.. then they appeared for sale a few weeks later. Couldn't resist, so here they are! What do you reckon? They will look better with the bigger tyres on them I think.. gives better clearance on the strut and I lurve the dish!

I think they will take anything Dave. I will email you the entry form.

Just got an invite to a car show down at Torquay run by Rotary. Apparently had 150 cars last year and it sounds like a good day. Perhaps it could be a cruise for CH plated cars and then a bit of a show n shine. Anyone interested in going? November 1st is the Sunday before Melbourne Cup. There is an entry form for it and a cost of $5 to enter. If you want the form PM me with your email address :D Dear Motor Enthusiast, On behalf of the Rotary Club of Torquay I would like to report on the Torquay Motor Show held in November last year. It was this Club’s first Motor Show and by all accounts was very successful with car owners and their treasured vehicles coming from far and wide. There were over 150 vehicles on display and each and every one of them contributed to the success and shine of the event. This year, on Sunday 1st November, the Sunday before Melbourne Cup Day, the Torquay Rotary Club will again be running the event. We would be delighted if you would drive on down the coast road to help us show off your vehicle. The event will be organised in a similar fashion to last year, but with improvements to layout and the entry process with extra events and displays to add the celebratory atmosphere to the day. If you would like to enter this year’s show it would be appreciated if you could firstly leave a message on the Club’s mobile phone number or email Greg (address below), and secondly completing the attached Entry Form and bringing it with you on the day. The entry fee will remain modest at $5.00 per contestant and spectators. There will be Devonshire teas provided by our local Relay For Life team and a variety of delicious food and refreshments available at any of the nearby cafe’s. Members of the Torquay Rotary Club look forward to meeting you and seeing your unique vehicle. Please feel free to email or telephone the Club with any questions or suggestions about the day. Yours in Rotary Greg Birchall President 2009-10 Rotary Club of Torquay Email:[email protected] Mobile: 0412914000

1UZ is apparently a very very tight fit in the MS55 engine bay too. The easy conversions are the newer M series engines - 5MGE for instance, or a 7MGTE, if you like blown head gaskets every now and then.

Here is some video from the day. Its probably boring if you weren't in the car but oh well :) Audio is kinda wonky...

that looks awesome!

Thanks heaps Paul. I will go visit him and see what he has to say - I have been just getting my tyres through the IPRA forum so far but I reckon it might be time to do something else :)

Bks - Ke70 Panda Style Budget Project

The polish made her look great :) Love the idea of vinyl panda job. Great plan! -
I am thinking so at this stage.. it could potentially be better with better tyres, but at least for me, it very easily locked a front brake with very little pressure on the pedal. That said the pedal was pretty low with the old master cylinder, so I am not sure what is the best option. It might be different with a standard Corolla rear end too - mine has a T-series in it. Though that means I have bigger rear brakes and therefore should have less of an issue. A brake proportioning valve would probably fix it too.

There is a specific model Corona called XT130. The X is part of the chassis code. You can also use RT132 LCA's I think. Those are the only two Coronas that I am aware of that do the job you want.

Here are a couple of photos from the beginning of the day. There were a few guys there who were taking some photos for me, so will put them up when they come through. At least she looks good huh?! :)

Newsflash ! Hadn't seen my times from the last session. Last session last lap I did a 1.37.67 - 1.1 seconds faster than before. Whoo hoooo :) Much happier now. Thanks to my support crew who were there taking photos too :)

Nice pick up. I have been keeping an eye out for one of these as I love the idea of an old school cruiser. I am sounding like a broken record but you will find heaps of info on the Crown thread on toymods If you want some ideas for her have a look at www.crown-classics.com - its mooneyes Crown website. Have a look at the Crown Picnic photos, there are some very cool cars in there. I have also seen one done in rat rod style.. red wheels under the hubcaps.. white walls.. pinstriping.. loved it.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sandown has been run and won.. Only 35 entries today so shed loads of track time if you had a reliable car... if...... The good - I came first in my class (lets ignore that there was only two cars in it and the other bloke was in a Laser!) A win is a win in my books! The bad 1. The fan belt came off in my first run.. and she got damned hot before I noticed the temp gauge. If the friggin alternator was working I might have noticed the light, but hey its been on for three events. Really should have fixed that huh. Anyways put spare belt on, miss a session, but all good. 2. That alternator.. no chargey the batttery no more. Go to start car for second run. Click click click. Fug it. Jump it with my jump battery i bring with me for such occasions. All good off we go. 3. Go to leave for next session. Jump battery cactus (I have always known its only had one start in it at best, and have been "gunna" get a new one for ages. So push car out of the way. Pack everything up. Unhitch trailer. Drive to auto parts store. Buy $150 jump starter. Race back. Fire her up. Go out for another run. 4. After two more sessions, and lots of time idling the car waiting on the dummy grid, I cruise out and head out on to the track, only to run out of fuel 50m down the road. Idiot!! Get towed in having caused a red flag for stupidity. How embarassment. 5. After filling up, get another run and as they are now cycling people staight through no waiting, so line up for "just one more" - we had been speculating about how long the nearly flat battery would actually run the car without getting charge from the alternator - turns out just past turn 1. At least this time I didn't park in a place that would cause a red flag! Sigh.... The car rode the bumps a heap better, but it didnt translate into any more time.Shocks both bottomed out still, so wondering whether I need to go stiffer in the spring again, or get the shocks done again Was in fact half a second slower. That could be the dodgy old free tyres I got... or the fact I am learning how hard I can push the brakes now. Lots to do before Phillip Island on August 16th. Will post some pics and video when I get them sorted.

Nice find. Where did you pick it up?
-
The was a pretty tatty looking green Sprinter parked in Clayton for a long time. Then I saw it at Pete Robinson's one day and he told me the owner was getting some work done to it. I spotted a really near looking KE26 (?) 4 door wagon driving along Centre Rd at about 4.30ish this afternoon. I was unloading my car when I saw it drove past.

Woz nice pick up :y: Thats heaps better than I imagined it when I got the email from the guy! If I had known I might have come and pinched it myself hehe

Well tomorrow I find out if all this work is worth the effort, and I must say I am a bit apprehensive. I finally got the new master cylinder all fitted correctly with the purchase of a little fitting to screw into the front port, to allow me to use the standard Toyota brake line. It is a brakequip part, BQ40A and a copper washer for anyone doing the conversion. M10x1.0 male-female adaptor. Took the car for a run around the business park at work, and its very prone to locking front wheels. It had too much toe out I think so I took some of that back off and it became a bit more stable, but I think the new master cylinder might be over doing it. That or the old tyres I have really are very old and don't have much grip. I am hoping with a good heat cycle in them tomorrow they will get a bit grippier and I will be able to stand on the pedal again like I was before, without fearing of flat spotting a tyre. Front end is soo much stiffer than before. Wondering if I have over done it with the 325lbs (6kg) front springs. Will wait and see what it does at Sandown tomorrow. One of the gland nuts keeps coming loose, so I will have to keep an eye on that.

Spoiler And Wheelarches For A Classic Celica
silverra23 replied to TA22Denmark's topic in Automotive Discussion
Hvae you joined toymods yet. All the answers to this question and many more you haven't even thought about are in there!! Here are some options http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/toyota-Celi...sQ5fAccessories http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Toyota-Celi...sQ5fAccessories http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Celica-TA22...sQ5fAccessories I think there are quite a few suppliers out there but thats a good sample -
I didn't end up with a banjo fitting. My local brake shop got a fitting in for me from Brakequip. Its a screw in male-female adaptor, and the female adaptor has the cone shaped seat for the double flare on a toyota brake line to seal against. Cost $10 including a copper washer at trade price. Hopefully it all works when I fit it tomorrow!
