  1. Time flys when you're having fun! Finally decided after Hanging Rock Car Show to make some decals for the ke70.. I said I wouldnt add anything but it was too plain... And these are close copies to factory items. After many emails tooing and froming with the sign writer here they are, $150 all up including application due to their size. IMG]http://i444.photobucket.com/albums/qq162/Ben-001/S5005655_zpsf62f1d59.jpg[/img] Cheers to Jimi for the great shots!
  2. No the systems are different, rear mufflers on a ke30 are circular in profile and have a lower clearance from the boot floor. Ke70 are oval in profile and fit closer to the boot floor underneath. Hangers are in different positions too as well as press bends to follow the floor pressings. You can find either system on here for $50 sometimes.
  3. Such a nice example of a 30, like the others I really like the integrated front lip. I had the white ke70 Corolla last year at Winterfest.... You commented on it. Still got it but this year I took my white ae92 which was parked next to yours. Keep up the good work!
  4. It's the wrong bar for that car, while the main bolts will line up it will look out of place as it won't line up or tie in with the surrounding panels and pressings. A flat front bar will fix that easily once you find one.... Not many wreckers in the Northern suburbs will have one though.
  5. Thats even better, especially for that money. Read a thread elsewhere about someone installing the same spoiler to their hatch and it was a bit of a nightmare regarding fitment across the top of the tailgate... Must be off an SX not GT-i if its got the black spoiler. Pretty common for the rear wiper not to work, all in all you got a bargain!
  6. Like what Rian said, its more for the aesthetics. Make sure you take off the associated bracketry which bolts to the tailgate as that whats holds the spoiler on. You'll need to mark the holes carefully as there are none predrilled from toyota for the regular corolla hatches when you mount the brackets. Best of luck.
  7. Thats at Andys Autos in Campbellfield, I've known that place since the late 90s. Can be a little pricey....
  8. Yeah Chris that second plate denotes the car being imported from Japan, The Japenese text is a giveaway as I have it on my Liteace van. The first plate is the compliance plate which Australian Motor Industries (let's call them the importers and assemblers) needed to comply with before that van hit the road. A member Paul has an identical van from October 82 which has a third tag riveted next to the compliance plate stating the frame number which yours doesn't have. I am not at all surprised your van doesn't have this third one as it is one of the early builds. Here you go, scroll 3/4 down the page and you'll see that extra tag near the brake master cylinder. http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/15825-ke70-panelvan/
  9. Nice pick up indeed, Look on the plate in the engine bay, it should say Toyota made in Japan or something along those lines. Panelvans were strictly imports, the bonnet, front beaver panel, scuttle panel, grille, guards and light assembly are different to locally produced flat fronts. Dash fascia, vents and gauges are noticably different to a local e7 too. I have a magazine from back in the day which stated these were imported in small numbers.
  10. Nice pick up, plenty of potential there indeed. Is the chapter on the 38 closing now? Would be a shame if it was. Anyhow keep the updates coming!
  11. Look for the Pilkington ACI insignia around the windscreen. Usually it's around the bottom in the centre. That is where it's located on the windscreen on my ke70... It's never been changed! These 3 piece trims around the windscreen are rubbish, pure rubbish. If you are getting a new windscreen the glazier can install a nice rubber seal, one piece which is contoured to the roof profile. I had that fitted on my daily driver ae92 when my small bubbles were welded up nearly two years back. Problem is, these trims are designed to catch the water when the wiper sweeps across whilst driving and prevent it from running down the side windows. In theory it's supposed to drin off, but with 20 years of crud built up it will obviously accumilate and rust. After the proper repairs were done in the window recess and the window to be installed, the glazier applied heaps of that black silastic and placed the window in for that tight finish. I saw it done and its held up, no leaks rust or worries.
  12. If you're referring to a monza red, In the Toyota range it's was called Centre Red. When I had my red AE71 the colour and trim combo was on the vin plate. JC-UE-HA
  13. With you're km20 Liteace maybe you can drop in a 5k 1.5 motor from a km36 Liteace. I've got a 1989 ym35 Liteace with a 2y motor and performs really well besides from a flat spot on the carby. You may need to convert to hydro clutch and modify the engine and gearbox mounts for the y series driveline... Lots of work! Sell the ute and use the proceeds on a 5 or 7k install.
  14. You can buy "Toyota Motor" replica keys from ebay for $10 a key. The master key operates all locks and the sub key operates boot lock and fuel door.
  15. Good to see it was only dust blocking the air ducting, I am from Melbourne Australia. Over the past few years the ke70 has risen in popularity so ones which would normally go to the junkyard are Bought and used for drifting or other forms of Motorsport... Which means finding original or specific parts can become very difficult. There are some Taiwanese reproduction parts that are available but to me it is not the same. While mine was original and looked after before I got it, somebody a long time ago made some changes. It took a number of years to find original parts especially for the interior but I got there. The outside was a little easier to restore as it had very very small rust and some dents. All the lights, trim and plastic is like new as its has always been garaged. With some fresh paint it is like new again.
  16. Welcome to the club :) Like what you have with the KE70, are there many of the KE70's driving around in your country? 1980 model being a very early example of a left hand drive Corolla! A link to mine, from Australia ;) Lots of photos and history.... http://www.rollaclub...t/page__st__510 Maybe one of the resistors for the multispeed motor is not functioning correctly? I'm not much of an expert on auto electrical but I have heard of this problem happening. What is your fan speed, 1,2 and 3 (highest). Check your pipes under the dashboard, it does take a little while to remove the parts without breaking them but it may find solve the problem.
  17. What body style, Hatchback, Sedan or Seca? If its hatch at the very corners under the trim are two white clips which tuck in under the tailgate glass. Once they are prised from under the glass, the ends will pop off and from there you gently pursuade the trim to come off, you could get away with a flatblade screwdriver or use a barbeque scraper as the profile is wider so it dosent chip the edge of the trim in the process. Do this process from the top of this trim down and lever it away from the glass to prevent damage to the paint. I assume your tackling rust issues under your glass, you will be suprised with how much dirt accumilates under there.
  18. This car has come really nice, top job! The name of the colour is "Buff" for curiosity sake, but the paint code will be enough either way.
  19. The seller didnt give you an indication what the lights were removed from? There is a mixture of lights from Mazda RX4's, 808, Ke20, Ke30 Corolla, Datsun 1200, 120Y. Use google and try searching for Japenese cars from the 70's. Or search on japenese nostalgic car website and you'll certainly determine which light is from which car. All the best!
  20. Superb, so nice to see a restored AE93 Gt. The two door variety have a pleasing look to them, in Australia we received the five door hatchback (like yours with two extra doors) and the lift back in five door configuration known as Corolla Seca. That was quite bad rust in the rear wheel arches, particularly when the interior panelling was removed! However the bubbling above the windscreen is extremely common. Even in Australia where it's drier you'll always find it there and under the tailgate glass. My one had a few small bubbles, thankfully no holes so the repairing of it was a little easier. Keep up the good work :)
  21. That's Knightrider!! Best series of the 80's :)
  22. There was a member on here with a 4afc who had a webber carby fitted and said the difference was noticeable. This was complemented by extractors and a non restrictive exhaust system.
  23. You wont find much specifically for a 6af, so just search for 4af as most parts are interchangeable anyway 6af is 1.4 litres, not many people have played with 6af's so maybe a carby upgrade could be an option. RC member GJM85 had a how to guide as far upping the power gains from a carby a series engine. If you were to install power steering, a new column and rack specific for p/s would be required, it's a big job. Probably better for you to undertake that when you do the engine change. This should help you out. http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/40792-4a-fc-owners/
  24. Nice car, particularly when its from the grandparents! Great colour, comes up mickey mouse after a polish (cheap and easy to do). The results will speak for themselves being red. I believe this model is the ae101, or 102 with the bigger 1.8 litre engine. Keep up the good work :)
  25. I had the same problem with my ae92 where more than 2 hours after the car was driven it wouldn't start the first time. So you would have to crank it over the second time straight after and then it would run. I put up with it for a few months and when I was satisfied the car wouldn't give me any other issues (as I bought it shortly prior knowing this) I bought a replacement starter as the amateur inside was worn from age and use. So the autolec tested/inspected/cleaned and installed it and its been great since. It certainly paid for itself :)
