Its getting better as you go along, it will definetley look the part with those suspension bits you got too. Do you still have the rear window louvre (or sunshade) by any chance? Theres someone I know whos looking for one if you still have it. Whats the condition of the windscreen? I'll assume its the original. These windscreens are notorious for leaking and causing rust. It is caused by those clip/trims which you photographed that allow dirt to accumilate and eventually rust. Maybe remove the windscreen and clear out the remaining silicone (which there was barely much of from the factory) and prep and seal for the replacement glass. Where abouts in Melbourne are you located, there is a top windscreen guy I could put you on.

Where abouts are you from Dennis, different parts of the world had variations of nippondenso and aftermarket equipment to cater for left and right hand configurations.

Hi Nick, Looked like a tidy little ke70 you had, pity you traded in. Not many se trim levels ones kicking about, yours is the 4th se Ive heard of in Melbourne. Ive got an identical one built in 82 with similiar rego. I can't say Ive seen yours before as over the years ive had a wondering eye for similiar cars. Is the dealer whom you traded it to still in operation? While its highly unlikely they'll you where it went its always worth a try. Check your messages too ;)

We had one of these, km20 Liteace 4k with a 4 speed with low roof and chrome bars... Best van ever! 2nd gear take offs were more usefull as first was too low in most conditions. On the freeway it used to go off the clock at 140 kays! Nothing like the screaming sound and feeling of boiling hot 4k under your seat!

This Novas looking better Rob, youve done some tastefull mods! Particularly the cup holders and arm rest. You beat me to it but I was going to recommend Scavman regarding the suspension your chasing. Even that exhaust section would fit your sedan no problems! Where in Melbourne are you from? Looking forward to more progress!

Its definetley a Spirit, Looks like someone had stuck on some white ae82 badges, that corolla one is defientley obvious and I'm sure the cs-x is too. Also Spirit models had the sill panels painted black, which your one features. Its a spirit all the way. As for compliance plate codes, it sounds the same as my old red 71 sedan. I don't think Toyota were that articulate in stamping different codes for colour/trims or options like what Holden and Ford did when the cars were optioned up from the factory. However though, its a big help when you try to decipher what it all means.

Good work Hans, looks like a very tidy ae94. The white bumpers don't look too bad, however I'm sure it'll look good none the less with back ones. With the 7afe, is there much fiddling to do with electronics that was for the 4afe? Such as engine bay looms and computer, or is it plug and play? Also what about the powersteering? They have a different hard line compare to the ae94 type which runs above the drivers side chassis rail. don't know whether your particular about the odometer, did you know you could swap the csi odometer/guage assembly into the csi limited tacho cluster? Recently I did this as I wanted a change but wanted to retain the original kms.

Its the Spirit, based on the CS trim level. I have this stated in a wheels or motor manual magazine from 84. .13" steel wheels and chrome trims/centre caps .Vinyl headlining .Colour coded grill .The spirit covered seats .Spirit decals (Decals on the blue and red tended to deteorioate more compared to the whites) which explains none on yours. Its more cost effective to remove the whole lot rather than replicate. .Spirit wing .Tacho dash .Passenger mirror .And of course the manual package (which was initially available on the CS-X only). Its the best of both the CS AND CS-X, it was cheaper and was made to appeal to a driver buy marketing it as we knew it. I don't think most people had $11,000 back in the day to fork out on a Sprinter so I believe this was Toyotas local alternative to not only supplement the Sprinter, but to finally acknowledge the criticism given to Corollas from the late ke20 - bang for your buck not just transport. It had rivals such as the Gemini ZZ/Z, Twin Carb Laser-s/Mazda 323ss, Colt GSR the list goes on. It was the locally built sporty rwd alternative which arrived too late in the market.

It'd be good if there was a way to de-code build plates on these cars, as its readily available on more mainstream cars. Trev that code was similiar to my red ae71 cs from memory, the Spirit was based on the CS trim level. A give away for noting a Spirit which not many would think of is that the headliner is vinyl - like the s and cs, and that it rode on the known 13" Corolla wheels with chrome trims and centre caps. Velour headliner and alloys was reserved for CS-X. As you mentioned it lacks the boot/fuel relese and velour interior but still gets the passenger mirror, tacho dash and of course the 5peed box with 3.889 ratio diff. Which differentiates the Spirit from the CS-X.

Linky: Slant front ke70. http://www.jollysringwood.com.au/eziparts/Display_Vehicle.asp?PriceListID=0&VehicleID=266541&Location=jollysringwoodcomau&LocationID=1&VehicleDesc=Toyota

Jollys u pull it in Heatherdale Rd Ringwood. (Formerly Pick, pay n' go). Has a straight slanty front. I'm fairly certain its white, otherwise a cream. Its the only e7 ive seen at the wreckers Melbourne wide.

Maybe its a loom for the rear speakers, while your cs trim level never had rear speakers from the factory the cs-x above did and I'm guessing thats the wiring for it...

Welcome Derrick, There are an abundance of ae92,93 and 94 Corollas down here in Melbourne! So finding one is simple, choosing one from the hundreds you'll find will be hard part! There are a few of us including myself who own ae92/94 Corollas so your not alone

I'm suprised nobody's put this up on here yet.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJb2yphpZH8

Good progress so far mate, was it fiddly installing the extractors? It should sound and go a bit better! Keep it up.

Great example of a xt130! More photos?

Good pick up with the 92', its a common spot for them to rust. Originally the windscreens had a 3 piece trim, the ones up the a pillars had a high profile to prevent water flying off and going into the car if the window was down. In effect/consequence it could collect into the a pillars along with the residual dirt/grime which would cause it to rust. The same applies for above he windscreen too. Its already had the windscreen changed judging by the pics, the rubber seal currently on there is what should been on there by toyota anyway in my opinion. They seal a hell of a lot better and allow the water to run off much better. A year and a half ago I bought a ae92 and thankfully it had limited rust. Two spots of surface above the windscreen and none in the a pillars. My windscreen was cracked so I organised a glazier to come and remove the screen and had a panelbeater repair the two spots and thoroughly clean the who windscreen recess with grinder and wirewheel, before treating with multiple sealers and painting. I photographed what he did as a reference for threads like this. The recesses are a good 15mm deep, and if theres rust it will be surface, if there was penetration and leakage it would go as far as the rooflining. After observing many ae92s, around the wreckers the windscreens tend to loosen up due to lack of sealer which also encouraged leaks. If you press hard enough along the perimeters of the windscreen you can see them raise. I note your rego label is from victoria. After the repairs and paint were done I contacted wizard windscreens who fitted the new screen and seal. The seal they fit is specifically for the ae92 sedan/hatch so the fit is good. The fitter blamed the original trims and sealer for the problems (rust) as even prefectly good screens needed to be turfed out so the fix could be done properly. Plenty of sealer and a good rubber and you should be good to go  I think I paid $180 for removal and install. They came back a few days after the repair was done.

Looking forward to seeing pics of this one Hayden, particularly if the above photos are anything to go by! Toyota tool sets ae always cool! Good work on getting a manual one, the majority seemed to be trimatics.

Found a few bits for the ke70 when trawling through the wreckers. I never seen this sticker before, grabbed it from one of two ke70s, Its one of those attention type stickers mounted under the bootlid recommending to use genuine toyota parts as they are made to exact and exceeding standards. After a delicate clean up and sticking its back at home.. Sunday 24/6 was Winterfest down in Melbourne so I thought i'd dust off the ke70 and bring it out since it had its work done on it. Good weather, plenty of people who were interested in the car and of course lots of Toyotas from the same vintage. Photo courtesy of silverra23.

Thanks Jay, once they are clean up they are like a different (new car). After long searching I found a genuine sx/gti rear muffler, thanks to madrollafan! In good solid condition, just needed the pipe with flange section removed and replaced with the smaller diameter piping and flange to bolt up to the current engine pipe, which I had laying around so that was welded on along with a new gasket and nuts/bolts. The chrome tips I tacked on also... Looks the part, minus the hecticness. Has a tiny bit of rasp too :) Toyota Owners club of Australia held their annual event at Brighton Toyota so I thought I'd give it a debut. It came runner up in best engine bay to a Supra which had big $$ spent. Photo below courtesty of Grip Shift Slide. Photo makes it look like a demo model!

The 4a shares the same bore but the AE93 smallport 4age's have more ribbing in the blocks for rigidity. I think its 7 ribs opposed to 3 on the average block. AE82 Bigport blocks were 3 ribbed I believe... The "fe" head was narrower and so was the valve angle, still twincam but driven by scissor gears from camshaft which had the timing belt cog. They are an economy motor but can be improved with upgrades however there is limited info out there and its more logical to use a 4age as it has the better head to accomodate all the mods that can be done it.

This car looked great at winterfest, pictures don't do it justice. Good work on purchasing the 03 Corolla, it may still be the japenese built model too. I believe from 2004 they were produced in South Africa... Here are the mentioned wheels on Webbers Seca, this was also at the show the wheels look good in the flesh. don't know about availability for them now as they are from 2007.. http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/16061-webers-twin-cam-seca/

The cause is from the hit you had with the gutter, you must've hit it pretty hard. Did you cut a corner at speed and clip it or was it an attempted slide gone wrong? Being a model with independant rear suspension you'll probably be up for new trailing arms, bushes, rear strut possibly and wheel as its most likely buckled. Depending on how worn the rear shocks and bushes are, its probably wise both replace both items with fresh ones. Unless you know someone who can do mates rates it wont be cheap.

Welome Asiri, this car has come so far in such a short time! Love the attention to detail you have put into this. We never recieved the Hi Deluxe down in Australia so its a novelty seeing one like yours with original panelled dash and airconditioning and.... 4 doors! This will be one very clean and unique Corolla when its done, so keep up the good work!

Its a 4afc as the compliance plate suggests, but in its life time someone has put the efi rocker cover on. The "c" denotes california spec carburettor for emision regulations. And "a131" equates to automatic - 3 speed.
