Hi there guys ! it was great to catch up with you all on the weekend and have a chat and show you Thomas little Rolla , we hope you all enjoyed    . The little Rolla made the trip without a problem (almost 800km round trip) other than the front Tyre wear :hmm: which is why it is back on the hoist changing over the standard front end to the modified one i made then back in for wheel alignment  . Thanks for the link to the photos of the day Jimi there are some great shots there although i might have to look at what valve stem seals they put on looking at the smoke we left behind  even though our engine tuner likes to to see a bit of smoke on start up to know that oil is getting up around the top end ( He doesn't run valve stem seals at all on his funny car drag motor ) but it didn't look pretty in the photo  . And Stu what can i say other than it was great to finally catch up and say thanks for all your help and advise through out the whole build of Thomas little Rolla as i have said many times before it is members such as your self that make this sight the great place it is. Hi Glen and leigh we got your messages and will be in touch soon. Cheers:- Stuart (Thomas dad)

As to our cam specs it is a Wades Camshaft regrind / specs are Cam Lift- int 293 exh 293 Duration ADV- int 284 exh 284 Duration @050-int 228 exh 228 Valve Clr - Both 008 Valve Lift-Both 431 Cam Lift tdc-int 082 exh 060 Phase <) 107 i hope this is of some help. Next weekend we thought we might come down to Melbourne for the Cars-Coffee & donuts but would like to here if any of the RollaClub members are going to be there as it is close to a 4hr trip each way for us but would like to catch up and meet some of you guys & GIRLS so if you could let us know as it will be a big day for us. Hi there all! well we haven't been on for a while so i thought id bring you all up to date. We finally got our engineers report and mod plate  so the little rolla is all legal and running great .Had it on the dyno yesterday and made 105-6 rwhp at 5500rpm so there is still more to come ran up to 120mph 6000 revs in 5th gear on the dyno not to bad  although i don't think i would like to try it on the open road 100mph was fast enough and a handful :o . Tomorrow its time for a good clean and polish and photo shoot so i will get Thomas to download some photos for you all as we know you all like pics and our engineers report as it s not a bad read so you can tell us what you all think. Now that it is going again we will try and get down to Melbourne to catch up with some of our Vic members especially STU Kickn5k so we can thank him in person for all his help and advise over the past few months  (Thanks heaps mate). Cheers:- Stuart (Thomas dad)

Hi there everyone i just want to say thanks for all your thoughts/opinions and ideas as to our problem ! all going well we should have a answer by the weekend and share the results with you all; so as to help any other members doing this conversion and add it to the wiki page. There has not been to much mentioned about blocking the oil feed to the hydro lifters other than a small bit on K club in NZ. I would also like to once again say a BIG thank you to Stu (Kickn 5k) for all his help in helping to solve this problem and making the grub screw with a dowel on the end for us to block the oil feed (Thanks Heaps Mate). Which bring me to ! we have COTY (car of the year) award so how about MOTY (member of the year) award as i would nominate Stu straight up as it is members like Stu that make this the great sight it is. I have noticed ever since being on Rolla Club Stu has always given great advice to those in need of HELP like us so might be worth the MODS having a look at MOTY ??? what do you all think???. Cheers:- Stuart (Thomas dad).

Hi there Gavin just been looking at K Club in NZ and reading there 5k solid lifter conversion page it can be found at the bottom of our wiki page 5k solid lifter conversion it explains it all in good detail and confirms what we thought was happening well worth a look. Cheers:- Stuart (Thomas dad).
-
Hi there Gavin thanks for your information but we don't have any problems with rocker adjustment , still have 4/5 mm left. We are currently looking at blocking the oil feed gallery to the lifters and push the oil to the top end to see if this helps? it is something that Blown 5k from New Zealand has done in the past we will keep you all informed as to our progress. Cheers:- Stuart (Thomas dad).
-
Hi there Feral4k was this on a 5k solid lifter conversion? thanks for your information. Cheers :- Stuart (Thomas dad).
-
Ok here we go! 5k block, dished pistons machined to flat tops, block decked to suit,4k head, isky chevy lifters,430lift cam, fully balanced, datsun 12a push rods, new oil pump, all new bearings big end, mains, cam, all meassured 1.5-2.5 thou clearances. Now for the problem this is the third cam & lifters we have put in in 12 months all been the same and getting very pissed of. Start up cold 60-70 psi oil preasure once warms up drops back to 8-10psi at idel 1000rpm. Running Penrite 25-70 extra 10 oil,has any one out there had same/similar issues as this? would like to here from you so as we can sort this problem out. Cheers :- Stuart (Thomas dad).

Cheers:- Stuart (Thomas dad).

Hi there Darren we used the otomoto coilover kit on Thomas ke11 and camber tops and they all work great,if you have a read of Thomas thread (TOMMYS Ke11) there is a lot more detail and also modified his cross member which has all just been fully engineered and it made a big difference to the handling of the little rolla and have just fitted up a rear sway bar as well. Cheers:-Stuart (Thomas dad).
-
Hi there Seb if you wave a look on Thomas thread TOMMYS ke11 page 9 you can have a look at what our ra23 looked like both before and after! let pics tell the story (shit happens). Cheers:- Stuart (Thomas dad).
-
Hi there Darren thanks for the kind words ,if you have had a look at Thomas thread you will also see a diagram of my desingn for the front bar which i really do think would be a much better swaybar if someone could make them tell me what you think it might be worth looking at????. Cheers:- Stuart (Thomas dad).
-
Hi there Parrot if you have a look thru Thomas thread(TOMMYS Ke 11) you will see we fitted the whiteline sway bar to his ke11 and did have problems with it hitting his brake calipers but after a bit of cold pressing we now can get full lock and as Stu (kickn5k) said best mod you could ever make. There are also pictures showing how much we had to press the bar i hope this is of some help. Cheers:- Stuart (Thomas dad).
-
Hi there Seb great looking ra40 you have there we also race short course and have 2 ra40s if you have a look at Tommys thread there are pictures on page 9, our cars have been slightly modified (let pictures tell story) you will also see that not all go'es well with racing any way great looking car and all the best with it (HAVE FUN). Hi i just received an email from my engineer looks like we now have to fit rear retractable seat belts as well because we are over the 20% power increase and he can't see any way around it (as Thomas said he could count on one hand the times some one has sat in the rear HaHa) but on the up side he has pased my modified front end and included it in is final report (bloody stoked about that) it just meens i now have to put it all back and get another wheel aliament. I'll keep you all posted on progress. Cheers:-Stuart (Thomas dad).

Hi there Dougal we got nominated this year but did'nt make the short list(Thanks Stu) maybe try again next year hopfuly will have every thing sorted out by then and meet all the criterea. I hope to have all the engine components back by weekend so as i can get the motor back together and running, we only hope that we have solved our problem this time as rebuilding each time is breaking the sons bank acount and he's not happy that he is not driving his little beast around any way we will keep you all updated as we are realy hoping to get well into our 100+RWHP so as said we will keep you updated so by for now. Cheers:- Stuart (Thomas dad). And yes the budget is tight.
