WINTER!. I live in Darwin, there's no such bloody thing... :lolcry: Oh well, just have to deal. Your right, attitude makes all the difference. I've been let off a couple of speeding tickets by saying "your right sir, I was speeding, terribly sorry". Although, I have fond memories of overtaking a cop car at 180km/h, and getting a smile and a wave from him as I flew past. Those days are sadly long gone, with the introduction of speed limits in the NT. Sigh...

LOL, the pair of you have a two track mind - both dirt!. :laff:

Replace the condensor and the lines. The gas is under pressure, repare one crack and it will find the next weakest point, and it's always around the connections. The lines are made of aluminum, the connection are made of God knows what, and corrosion is a common problem. I've just been through this with my Holden, it wasn't very expensive to replace the condensor and lines, but worth it.

Friends and I had this discussion only a couple of weeks ago. A Doctor in Darwin was busted driving his Merc in the city without headlights. He was fined by the Police and he feels he was unfairly treated. Why?. Because his dash lights were on so he thought his headlights were on as well. Take some responsibility buddy. If you don't know if your headlights are on or not, should you be in control of a car?. Seperate WGMG - I have a bird (feathered sort!) that pays a visit twice a day, purches on the passenger mirror of my Rolla and attacks itself in it's reflection. It SH!TS all down the side of my car while doing it's thing in the mirror. I've tried putting socks on the mirrors but, it just does the same thing to it's reflection in the glass. I've tried moving the car to a different spot, doesn't make a difference. I've covered my Rolla, so it goes to my Holden and sh!ts on it. Cover the Holden AND the Rolla, it sh!ts on the Hi-Lux. I'm out of blankets and covers, and patients... If I catch the little bastard, I'm gunna staple it arse shut. Can someone lend me a cat?.

That's it!. Picture that but, brown velour (oh God the 80's!)

Fair enough on learning to do something yourself. A/C is a pain in the arse. You need a black light to check for leaks, providing the gas has a dye in it. Most times particularly on older cars (ours!) the gas doesn't have dye in it. So picking a leak is impossable. I thought the same when my A/C didn't work as well as it did. My instant reaction was to get it re-gassed. I had it serviced and the guy was really helpful in explaining a few things. That was a few years ago and I've since had to replace the compressor in mine and convert to R134a. Your not going to get much change from $1400 if you take this path.

Hi Aaron, welcome to Rolla Club. I would put the trans in for a service. For around $130 - $150. They'll check the bands, and for blockages. Given the age of the vehicle, it's probably due...
-
I would recommend getting the system serviced. A full service is around $120 (that includes gas). They do things like clean out filters, clean the gas and add dye's to check for leaks. A/C systems are one of the most neglected systems in a car. No-one services them until they stop working. There are several possible reasons why your system isn't working. It's true they stop working with no gas in the system, the question is, why is there no gas in the system?. If there is little or no gas, this would indicate there is a leak that needs repair. Topping up the system every couple of days with gas will become expensive if there's a leak. I had a problem with the hot/cold selector. The tap (connected to the selector) that opens and allows hot water to the heater was leaking. Even if I selected cold, hot water was still getting to the heater and cancelling out the nice cold A/C air. My fix was easy, disconnect the heater (A/C is more useful than a heater in Darwin). I don't know how much "EZ Chill" is. But it seems like a waste. I'll bet large, the A/C system in your AE92 hasn't been serviced and is in dire need of some proper attention.

They said they were "remanufactured shafts including new outers using imported parts" (so, probably made of cheese or something).
-
Ahhh yes, Night Rider. They use to dress a guy up in a suit that looked like a car seat. Give the impression there was no-one in the seat, except sometimes you saw a drivers seat with arms!. In several episodes the Hoff jumps out the car and slams the door behind him, and many times you see a hand pop out from inside the car to stop the door from slamming. Classic 80's production, love it. Great cure for insomnia.

I just bought 2 x recond shafts for my AE82. $75 per shaft. Hell, it was cheaper then paying someone to replace the boots.

Toyota has already said to the public media. One of the reason they didn't produce a more hard core verson (possibly turbo with more power) is because there is a large aftermarket section that would take car of this. So, they produce a car cheaply, sell it cheaply and let the aftermaket worry about the rest. Too bad more company's don't do this.

Interesting. The front of our AE112 has this weird seperate headlight/indicator thing, the S.A version looks much more tidy. Also that yours has a 20v BT and 6spd is both interesting and bloody annoying. As "sporty" as ours got was a low blow turbo 7AFE with 110kw and a 5 spd. Why Toyota OZ went to the trouble of turboing a 7AFE and not offering us an Rxi is mind boggling. Still, sweet ride, jelous as and look forward to some more pics.

Same rules here in OZ. Sounds like the same cops too... Welcome to rollaclub. Nice Rxi. Which brings me to, what is an Rxi?. Is it a sport model?. Agree. I love the subtle differences with the same models from country to country. The front of Amith's Rxi looks much better than our AE112

What Vintage Toyota Has A Vertical Dimmer Switch?
clubby2084 replied to Teddy's topic in Automotive Discussion
My parents use to have a 1976 Toyota Corona SE (RT118?). I'm pretty sure that use to have a vertical slide type dash dimmer. I can picture the one your taliking about too. -
Good to hear, hope he's doing well. WMMH. 3 WEEKS HOLIDAYS!. So freakin happy. First REAL holiday in 3 years.

That's a crook smell. Not only does it imprint into the carpet, but the smell is absorbed by everything in the car. Yeah, I saw that episode. :yak: I have to say I was more than a bit dirty on the Police for leaving this esky on the back seat. They warned my friend of the smell when they rang him to come get it. They warned us again when we got there. Why someone didn't remove it after they were done inspecting the car is beyond me. They had in effect ruined a perfectly good car.

:lolcry: Er, um, er, no, I don't know what your talking about officer. However I can top it. Years ago a mate of mine was involved a incident on Christmas Eve(not a car accident) on the way home for Christmas. He was taken to hospital. The Police took his car. At the end of February the Police told my friend to come get his car. As he still couldn't drive, I went with him. Now, the car had been sitting at the Police impound, in the sun for around 2 months, with the windows up. On the back seat was a large esky. In the esky was all the stuff for a typical Christmas. Milk, Chicken, Ham and seafood. I opened the drivers side door and HOLY CRAP the smell!. The Policeman, my friend, the RACQ fella, we all bolted away from the car, gaging. I went to the shop and bought 10 of those "little tree" air freshners, a Vicks vapour stick (to shove up my nose), and a tin of Glen 20. Didn't work. I drove the car home, my mate (the owner) caught a cab (from South Brisbane to Browns Plains). Didn't even attempt to open the esky either. The first industrial bin I found on the way home, it got dumped. I stripped the interior of this car, seats, carpet, underfelt, roof lining, doorcards and replaced the lot. Didn't work. Every time I got in this car all I could smell was that esky. It's one of those things that is now imprinted into my sinuses. Everyone told me the car smelt fine after I was finished with it but, it's not what my nose was telling me.

Meh. Struggling to get excited about this thing. I don't mind the front, the side glass from A pillar to C pillar looks very Porsche Cayman and the tail lights are an almost direct lift from a BMW Z4. Power has been quoted around the 150kw mark (more or less), in a car that weights between 1200kg to 1350kegs (depends who's telling the story). Remember the ZZE123R Sportivo Corolla's. I was so excited about that thing, and soooo pissed off when my mates dirty, flogged out, shit box, high mileage 6cyl auto VL Commodore could keep up. WTF!. Wondering of this thing is going to be more of the same?.
-
I was quoted the same in QLD. "HSV2084" was $3250 per year. "SV2084" was a one off $2250. F**K THAT!. I ended up buying "OSV970" on a V8 Supercar plate for a still ridiculous $495 (mine for ever). In the NT "HSV2084" or "SV2084" is $140 (6 or 7 digit). However, you NEVER own the plate, you only purchase the right to display it. De-register the car or register it in another state and your combination reverts back to MVR ownership after 12 months. That's how I lost my personalised WW2 plates. Carlos, go the cams, gears and Turbo kit. Besides random number plates are harder to remember IF your busted "testing" your new turbo kit. :glare:

Bahahaha, GOLD. :lolcry:

I've had 3 new cars over the years, and the smell was just the best thing. My first 2 cars were before I became a new car salesman. While working in new car sales the smell started to get to me. After a few years I couldn't stand the smell anymore. Still can't. In 2000 I bought a new Corolla. I couldn't drive the bloody thing because of that smell. I ended up giving it to my mum for about 8 months until that smell went away. Anytime I'm near a new car I get the cold sweats, nausea and this feeling I'm going to hurl.
-
I had one of these many years ago. Mine was a rather vile shade of yellow. Roll Cage, long range tanks, bull bar, alloys. It looked the biz. Took me everywhere all over the NT and WA. Bloody good car. And good to see your enjoying yours.

Certainly different to see a S/C 4A. What a great little gadget. Great photo's too, but feel free to give us more details. Like, how to turn that set up clockwise, and mount power steer and A/C. :laff: Good work and welcome to RC
