  1. think ill be the first to say: looks like your quite a good driver and thats a pretty cool video, apart from the car being hurt. there are heaps of panels in the for sale section, try get a wrecking car
  2. heres a pretty decent update: had to fit a super-cat dogleg muffler at the rear to remove the bark and managed to droped 30db, also put in 2 to remove about 3-5 db each. got these for free from someone because i repaired his hoist, 2 new and 1 second hand: so close to finished, just need to fix the alternator now still gotta cleen up the wiring a little bit: my thermo-fan overide switch with a bicolour led (green and red) to alert me if its on auto or manual: my heatshield i made for my dizzy:
  3. not for the new north bound cruise plan, i was thinking start at curtain, go through kensington and along canning highway to graham farmer freeway through a tunnel run and then head to welshpool and up to the zig zag by roe highway??? kindof a massive dogleg but people wanted to go north
  4. i doubt that a 4age would have a very loud induction noise (judging from shah's engine with mushroom filter) its a pretty grey area which is why ive asked for people experiences and knowledge, I'm going to attach it to the chassis with a belt and then ask the engineer on Monday if thats good enough and if not then what he would recommend.
  5. posted the same question on ae86dc as they'd deal with it more than KExx's and i got the answer that it needs to be mounted by more than cable ties to something structural ie, the chassis
  6. hmm well maybe the engineer will know what to do with it, was hoping to not have to build a box but if i have to i was thinking about running it across the front of the motor and have the box take air from the existing hole for the old 4kc air setup id imagine that a pod filter on the intake side of an engine would be less of a fire hazzard than a paper filter on exhaust side, stupid govt
  7. quade noone wants it :jamie: just kidding garnet i think i just had an accident in my pants :$
  8. with the oil i believe you need to run a pressurized line through a cooler and into the turbo then directly into the sump using something like the 4age oil cooler setup would probably be ideal if it screws on correctly with the water id imagine that you would run lines off the existing water system, could probably use the throttle body ones that already exist correct me if I'm wrong but thats the best i can see from all of the pictures
  9. hey all I'm about to get my car taken over the pits and was remembering hearing hear-say about pod filters being legal and illegal now my assumption it it needs to be mounted to something so it doesn't accidentally fall on the road and kill someone can someone please clarify the laws on mounting and legalities I'm looking for serious answers not hear-say btw I'm in Perth WA and i have searched and also gone through the website but they are very vague and don't talk about pod filters cheers
  10. hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha ring round youll find someone
  11. you mean front strut brace, if you want to stop body roll then go sway bar, if you wanna stop chassis twist for better feel around corners go strut brace, both cost around about the same
  12. it could be your alternator stopping the charge to your battery causing it to rev randomly, could be a vacuum leak but it would be more constant, do the leak test with some lynx just incase make sure your idle mixture screw is set properly as it dramatically changes the engine in many ways if all that fails then check for vacuum hoses that are broken or unplugged but i doubt it would be that
  13. haha yeh multiplying everything by 10 is the same, didnt you know that philbey? Taz_rx i think many people will love you for writing that,
  14. the engineer said once hes done his papers he hands them in and it normally take a week to get back. i have 3 days they arent that fast, unless everyone STOPS ASKING THEM TO DO STUFF :) I'm just gonna drive my mates car while he films
  15. damnit was looking forward to getting some ideas from your engine oh well mine wont be either(unless the govt processes my certificate within a week) hey does anyone have space in their car for my mate? hes got a holden but likes corolla's too,
  16. i believe it is in the FAQ
  17. 4age RWD manifolds do it too, its simply the positioning of the air bypass valve which causes it to whistle on yours I'm guessing it would be the same i love that whistle, makes it sound like its got a lil 1psi turbo spooling :) haha
  18. haha hey chris you wouldnt happen to have a speedo sender to suit my ae71 t50 in my ke70 with stock borgy would you? my engineer said he wont be able to get it all the paper work accepted by the government by the 24 altho he said he will try ;)
  19. well said ol' chap if you speak proper english people will be able to help more without getting frustrated
  20. if you have snapped a head bolt that would alow for low compression, what do you mean by NO compression?? you will want to get that head bolt sorted out before you do anything else but as stated make sure your valve clearances are set to specs and wouldnt hurt to reface the valves while the head is out
  21. get a hell lightweight flywheel and something up around the 288+ cam shaft and get some porting done on the head and that is about the closest you will get without replacing "up and down" with "around and around"
  22. 15A sounds massive man, my 16 inch fan only pulls 5A and that moves enough air to taxi a 737 maybe you should look at altronics, aussie based company that is really good with prices
  23. to get sound deadener off ive seen people using dry ice to freeze it then hit it with a hammer and quickly bag it, or do you have an industrial freezer for baby whales that you can borrow? that looks like it will be quite a nice little budget drifter, you gonna turbo it or just make it an NA beast:P
  24. agreed felix, thats EXACTLY what convinced me to go 4age but k series motors have something about them that makes some people want to keep them if you get head skimmed on your 4k it will up the compression and it would go lovely with a nice 272 cam regrind and a weber :D also while your getting your head skimmed you should see if you can get your flywheel lightened and balanced depending on how much you money you have here is a video of a 4k with a bit of work
  25. this isn't true, i completely rebuilt my 4age for a mere $800 and that included a full durapro gasket and seal set, gasket goo and piston rings. just look around several places and also look for parts that people bought by accident like my gasket set, if you want something really reliable then id push you towards rebuilding an engine as you will know exactly what condition your engine is in, and also the quality of the parts that are in it therefore letting you know how hard you can drive it *edit* i didnt cut corners or anything
