what ECU are you running? JDM or ADM? if your timing is flinging out everytime you start it then must be something to do with your dizzy, tighten bolts harder??
-
haha sounds like a perfect opportunity to put a turbo on the motor with the lowered compression :jamie:
-
id say get a larger alternator, might as well if your going to run stereo system also if you like to play your music with the car off then buy a larger battery, mod the batter holder to suit or boot your battery also it sounds like you have a problem with your idle mixture running rich, happening to my car atm and mines efi :jamie: does your gases coming out the rear smell like its burning rich if it does try leaning it out by adjusting the air bypass and throttle stop, screw out the air bypass and revs should pick up a lil, then screw out the throttle stop to drop the revs a little bit
-
are you running efi or carby??? are you shorting the check plug on the loom before setting the timing? if your not shorting it you will end up with wrong timing
-
flexi hose FTW buy one that has enough bends and cut it where you need then put together with proper joiners and clamps, done many time on my car and never let me down:D
-
that engine bay just made my pants a lil wet i love simplicity btw if you need any help with 4age into ke70 there are a couple guys in perth, including myself that have done it and are willing to help if free beer is involved :jamie:

ridge racers has got 33.33 percent compared to city to surf's 25% ridge racers FTMTW new head gasket seems to be holding up pretty nicely, its got 20,000 km warranty deffinately looking forward to this cruise
-
alirght my car works so looks like ill be coming on this one with all you guys:D and ill take tool kit incase:P haha
-
only the head is worth taking, but even then its still not beneficial if you wanna spend an extra 80 bux to get head shaved cam regrind, twin side-drafts, extractors to a 2 inch system, don't FORGET NEW WATER AND OIL PUMPS also thermostat will have your car sounding orgasmic
-
ill have my car working by tomorrow after noon :) hopefully will actually drive on this cruise with you guys
-
yeh I'm pretty sure the engine crossmember does goes straight in, i saw a ke30 4age and it didnt look modded at all
-
well chassis bracing with a 3tgte would be a must and also new diff and basically all the driveline, i do believe you would need custom tail shaft and butcher a gearbox crossmember 4age can be dropped in by changing the engine and gearbox crossmembers over to ae71 items and also you wont need to upgrade your diff(although it is recomended) simply put if you want simplicity go the 4age, if you don't mind putting in a lot extra money and time then 3tgte ftw (also you get ALOT more power)

My 4age Definetly Needs Backpressure I Think
kiahn replied to ca18det_ae86's topic in AExx Corolla Discussion
2.25 inch system MINIMUM if you want any sort of performance out of it, ive got 2.5 and it goes pretty nicely in all rev ranged and pulls all the way to 7500 -
sortof :y: i wanted a hilux originally but didnt have the money and parents didnt have a manual car, so i bought a corolla and was happy but my old engine got replaced coz of head gasket being blown and this engine blew a brand new one :y: (that is if its not the head or block that cracked) and I'm not sure if I'm selling but i wouldnt let her go too cheap as she is one of cleanest shells ive seen in a while, was thinking round $3000 starting point with spare ae86 rims with "drift" tyres (20 year old rubber) and all my spare parts its got a engineers report on its way so there is $400 right there its a possibility atm, looking at my options *edit* i know that steep asking price but ive done all the work properly and shes my baby. also it would come with 6 months rego

My 4age Definetly Needs Backpressure I Think
kiahn replied to ca18det_ae86's topic in AExx Corolla Discussion
yeh just sounds like you need to do a basic tune on the thing oh and btw ive heard that backpressure can be a bad thing for 4age's as they get older, causing the cam covers to leak oil and such -
i wont be able to make it unless i buy another car :y: I'm officially shitted off at my car its already got clown head gasket or cracked head or something, there is pressure in the water system when i turned it over this morning at 630 I'm gonna sell it as is and buy a hilux :y:
-
there is pressure in the water system at cold and it wont spark, WHO WANTS THIS THING?? I'm considering selling as i NEED a reliable car, i don't think this is reliable enough i might get a hilux dual cab 4x2 which is the car i originally wanted
-
stock system has a thermo the works pretty well if you want to upgrade maybe an ae82 external thermostat will work but I'm not sure if there is enough lines going in and out of it, also the hose connectors are a diff size so you will have to stretch pipes
-
oh your just an asss haha jip lucky i checked the link on that, so was that one of the bookmarks on your computer?
-
get the GZE pistons and only reface the block, will have around 9:1 compression as mentioned and you will be able to run pretty high boost later on whilst still keeping it drivable without the turbo on what size can you bore the block out to if you use the wiseco pistons??
-
TPS - throttle position sensor you need to reset this, start off with it turned fully anti clockwise and set your idle and throttle stop screw THEN set your TPX by putting a 20 thou feeler gauge in between the throttle stop screw and the part it comes down on, it should come out of idle mode and into throttle mode when you put the gauge in there and when you take it out it should return to idle hope this helps
-
get a r31 and weld the diff, or get a ke70 weld the diff, get stiff springs and stiff sway bars, pair of 20 yr old tyres for the rear and so decent ones for the front and you will have fun oh btw get a HD clutch otherwise you will have no chance of clutch kicking, only feints or handbrakes get a lightened flywheel too, will let your engine rev quicker when the wheels are spinning also use search button
-
can be done with extensive firewall mods, you would nee the entire drivetrain from the donour car and ask oke20 about what problems he cam acros
-
alright here is the thing, there is an air bypass screw and a throttle position screw the air bypass screw is near the bottom of the carby pointing towards the strut tower, screw it in all the way and then unscrew it 1 and a quarter turn and start from unscrewing from there while adjusting the throttle stop to make sure that the idle goes where you want it make sure you have enough adjustability in relation to the thorttle stop to do go from high idle to stall
