  1. sweet well i got 2 people from ae86dcc coming so thats a bonus
  2. dad's mate was short on cash back in the day so he drove his XY falcon over to my dads place and sold him the steering wheel, he drove hom using ONE vice grip attached to the steering column :jamie: human kebab??? in another one of his mates XY falcons the fuel pump shat itself, so they borrowed an electric one and fitted it and connected it straight to the battery, to start the car you had to connect the wire and turn the key, he forgot to unplug the wire oneday and as they were drinking in a pub someone came into the pub yelling "SOMEONE'S CAR IS ON FIRE" the pressure had broken a line and spewed fuel onto the hot exhaust manifold which evaporated and caught fire, luckily the ran out there with several extinguishers and put it out :hmm: not really that dodgy but just plain stupid
  3. are they stock rims or aftermarket? if they are after market then you may have gotten wrong offset and its hitting something, bearing should be constant squeek all round, dads ute makes wierd noises under tight turns too and its the power steering pump struggling to push more fluid as its reached the end of the rack
  4. i will replace it soon but I'm still not sure as to why it would run like that, it loses all power when you floor it as if there is vacuum problems but we checked vacuum and it all works good, the dizzy works fine as we put another dizzy in from a working 4age and it didnt change a thing
  5. well i don't know much about this but ive heard people doing 40 though to gain compression i think 60 thou is max with 4k head correct me if I'm wrong
  6. i would have left it in the front office or in the doorway :worship: i got quote 160 for the RWD engine mounts off an ae71 and that was only the ones that bolt to the engine. ended up getting all of the brackets and the gearbox ones for 140 from 44gte on here
  7. here is the meeting point: here is the route, i believe we should take the alternative route as it goes through industrial area which is normally more fun :worship: what you guys think??
  8. hey chris, i ride offroadd kawasaki kx250 2 stroke beast :y: dads got a honda cb250 that hes practising on for his trip in bhutan. cbr125's are so light, strong winds are a big enemy also large vehicles :worship: good luck with it, heard they go forever
  9. EBAY FTW bought a set off there for 400 was a complete set and came with everythng from head gasket to fuel filter copper ring. also got free gasket goo can by cheap kits for like $80 though i wouldnt recommend them
  10. map will be up soon, the cruise is: Kent St‎ Head north on Kent St About 1 min go 0.5 km At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Hayman Rd Go through 1 roundabout About 4 mins go 2.0 km At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Lawson St About 1 min go 0.6 km Turn left at Manning Rd About 3 mins go 1.7 km Take the ramp onto Leach Hwy About 9 mins go 6.3 km Slight right at Tonkin Hwy About 5 mins go 3.1 km Take the ramp to Roe Hwy go 0.2 km Keep right at the fork to continue toward Roe Hwy go 0.3 km Turn left at Roe Hwy About 6 mins go 4.1 km Take the exit toward Maida Vale Rd About 1 min go 0.6 km Turn right at Maida Vale Rd Go through 1 roundabout About 3 mins go 1.1 km Turn left at Hawtin Rd About 2 mins go 0.3 km Continue on Gooseberry Hill Rd Go through 2 roundabouts About 6 mins go 2.8 km Turn left at Williams St About 1 min go 0.7 km Continue on Lascelles Pde About 1 min go 0.9 km total 25.2 km there you go. can probably figure out that its not going to take long to get there but i tried to make it an interesting but basic route
  11. get the head re-faced, they take a tiny amount off until it is flat (usually 20 thou) the corrosion is normal on any old engine, my 4age one is worse than yours just get the head skimmed and it should be good, also don't forget to remove all of the old gasket from the block and sand it was a very fine (240+ grit) sand paper to make sure that its a nice face to bond with
  12. have you tried checking the basic things like timing, points, dwell and compression?? you might want to try replacing the points and condensor if theyre old just to be safe timing should be around 8 degrees BTDC on 91 octane
  13. basically it has a light that flashes to tell you whats wrong. drove it the other night and it drove alright but only on 3.5 cylinders, found out yesterday one of the injector plugs had fallen off causing it to run rough as. then we measured all of the valves clearances to try and shutup the valve tapping, we ground down some of the shims so the gaps are correct now on all but 1 valve which is only a thou out and its now running rough again. symptoms are: sounds like its running on 3 under load, whilst foot of pedal and decelerating it runs fine, if you floor it it actually decelerates and stumbles to get any power i tried retarding the timing as it sounded hard to start and sounded like it was pinging, but that only gave it less power and more of a stumble advancing it makes the started motor struggle like a bitch to turn it over we have tried another: map sensor, dizzy, throttle body and checked the timing with the check connector shorted any ideas?? weve racked our brains for hours on end only to get headaches could this cause any problems?
  14. hahaha probably saw the new jet engine on youtubre where they throw bag of sand into it to prove its indestructable :jamie: this can't be serious
  15. turn left at karawara shops (coming from freo direction) and take the 2nd entrance into curtain uni, its right next to some soccer fields. can't really miss it
  16. do you mean air ride suspension? if so HAHAHA air ride on a ke70 USE THE SEARCH BUTTON this has been covered heaps of times, here are a few http://www.rollaclub.com/board/?showtopic=25397 http://www.rollaclub.com/board/?showtopic=...=30#entry286130 this is good one here http://www.rollaclub.com/board/?showtopic=26903
  17. haha back seat drinking is funny, drove all the way home from bunbury with dad kicking the back of my seat yelling "ARE WE HOME YET?" haha funny thing was is it was his RX8 :jamie:
  18. alright she runs now had a guy over and he helped out by swapping parts over to test. although its only running on 3 cylinders ended up being the temp sender to the ECU on back of the head not working properly, once the engine is warm the ECU's pre-programmed map and runs and revs beautifully (keeping in mind only 3 cylinders are firing) had a drive of her on "private" property, SO EFFING LOUD and feels like triple the power of my old 4K
  19. 24th sorry, was reading calender wrong :$ that will be the day i get my P's :P YAY who wants to buy a 17 year old a beer?? JK haha well this sounds like its going to go off nicely, should i advertise it on ae86 DC as well or does someone have a grudge against them??
  20. alright my cam timing was perfect, belt was a little slack but thats normal after you run it for a bit, the problem now is that when you go to rev it it dies and then picks up, like the ecu is responding too slow
  21. alright update: wiring fixed idle perfect and revs fine timing is good but when you go to rev it it dies first then builds up as if there is a delay in the map sensor or something. the vaccum hose to the map sensor is about triple the normal length, would this cause it?
  22. little update: just got word from dad that he has fixed the problems with the wiring, interferance with one of the wires was confusing the ECU. but it still runs rough so that means that the timing is out on the cams i suspect the exhaust as the dizzy can't seem to get the right timing which would make sense as 1 tooth on the exhaust cam would put the timing out on the dizzy. cheers trav_555 for the idea :D i spent like 2 hours putting the cams in and the belt on right just to find its wrong anyway :P well i'll definately learn from that mistake
  23. the fan i have moves enough air that it actually blows all around the engine bay so it should be ok, also the line is in a special spot that wactually does get a little bit of a breeze when your going forward. eventually I'm going turbo and when i do I'm going to replace all of that stuff so its all new/refurbished instead of just second hand, will also get larger fuel line and redo all of the brake lines i was thinking about making up a lil kit that takes the the ae71 clutch line and attachs to a new line which clear the extractors for people so that they don't need to buy/make a line, this was sorta easy to make but only because i am very patient, was thinking about making a kit for around $30 which is the cost price of the fittings and tubing that is included in the package, so almost no benefit for myself
  24. by the way if everyone agrees i have a good route to go to zig zag then chris's for initial D :P ive got the best spot to take photos up at the zig zag.
  25. hmmm i want a ke20 too, was going to use it as a daily while the ke70 gets built up, then after that 5K-T :P YUM we should start around 5pm i'd say, best time for pics is twilight (not the movie) up in the hills, got an epic picture of shah's ae86 with him leaning against it. is curtain uni in bentley too far for anyone? i think its pretty central to most people, 26 october at 5pm? anyone have a really good camera?
