He emailed me asking to open it again, so I did on the proviso he edit his post. He has and while its still not real fantastic it's better than what it was.

Awesome stuff :bash: Love the rims! can't believe you've been racing on stock brakes! And to think, here I am complaining about my 4 spot 11.8" rotor setup...

Big respect to anyone who can boast that much HP and use it ANYWHERE but the freakin dyno.

Hi Guys, Seen as your Region Leader hasn't been active for two months I think its time you nominated a new one. Obvious choices for me would be seabiscuit or sammo but you can nominate who ever you like. The ultimate decision rests with the admins though (i.e. we don't want someone who is going to project a negative image for Rollaclub). If you don't want to nominate or comment publicly please feel free to PM me.

Wow... I don't usually lock newbies threads but this ones so shitty I'm going to. I suppose your username is rather apt. Please, speak English, none of this SMS bullshit and do some research first.

Flat black done well is still a beautiful thing. Flat black done with spray cans from super cheap has been done to death and has never looked good.

Did you flush it with the garden hose or did you have a radiator joint flush it for you?

Vehicle information: I bought this vehicle with the intention of using it as a donor car for another project. I have since decided to take another path with that project so it has to go! The car itself is fairly rough and would need a bit of work to get it up to scratch again but I'll go into that later. The interesting part of the car is the engine and transmission. It has a good condition VH45DE and a beefed up standard transmission. The engine itself is unmodified and appears to have been looked after well. There's no noises or hard starting, compression is good, all appears as it should and has done around 120,000km. The transmission has been beefed up considerably. It's sporting a 2900rpm stall converter, kevlar bands and (from what I'm told) hardened gears from a patrol transmission. Its also using an aftermarket transmission cooler. Whatever's been done to it has made it a serious transmission. If you're not familiar with the VH45DE have a look here: http://www.turbo-infiniti.com/viewtopic.ph...38ba90aaf7ec957 It's a seriously over engineered all-alloy motor capable of over 800hp on standard internals. Nizpro are making 1200hp with little more than a valve spring change using twin turbochargers. The motor was the basis for Indy car motors sometime in the late 90's. If you're looking for one of these motors for a conversion, don't miss this opportunity! The car has plenty of other bits to part out as well. It comes with 17" mesh rims with good tyres along with a stainless half back exhaust and misc audio/electrics parts. If you were planning on doing it up and registering it here are some of the things that need repairing. Active suspension reconditioned (2 hydraulic shocks are leaking) Replace LHS wing mirror Some paint touch ups Repair rivet holes where side skirts were ripped off Replace front bar and side skirts Reupholster drivers seat. Replace mascot (crucial!!!) Pics available on request, oh and its pearl white. Condition: Drivetrain - V.Good Chassis - Good Cosmetics - Poor Price: $3000 Location: Brisbane Contact: PM or email [email protected]

Somethind Different - F20c Vtec In Ae82
irokin replied to 1988ae82rolla's topic in Automotive Discussion
On the surface it just looks like another poorly researched project doomed to fail from the beginning and an impulse bought engine. That said I hope you prove me wrong. Good luck! -
Somethind Different - F20c Vtec In Ae82
irokin replied to 1988ae82rolla's topic in Automotive Discussion
+1 If money is no problem, there's your answer. If you've selected this engine just "to be different" then that's a very very poor reason. There's no shame in putting a 20 valve 4A-GE in it then spending the huge amount of money you've saved making it handle like its on rails. Realistically I think if you were genuine about doing the amount of custom work involved in putting an F20C in you probably wouldn't have posted this thread. If the car was RWD I probably wouldn't doubt it so much. -
Fixed.

Pretty common when you change your diet.

I believe there was another attempted spamming shortly after midnight last night but hopefully they were foiled by one of the new anti-bot measures. The reason I suspect this is there's a massive data spike on RRDTool (5 times in excess of our normal data at that time of day). Let me know if anyone's received any. It was only for a very short period so I believe they were scanning members but weren't able to send any messages.

Unfortunatly Rollaclub is solely supported by advertising dollars. A section such as you're proposing is somewhat counter productive in keeping the advertising dollars flowing (as few as they are). Donations are few and far between and fall a long way short of supporting the couple of hundred dollars a month the site costs to run (still short even when the site was sub $100/month to run). Even with the advertising and donations we still fall short of covering expenses so I end up footing the bill month in, month out. It also sends mixed messages to commercial advertisers who come here to sell their wares. Why should I pay when all these other businesses are getting free advertising? If you want to advertise your services you can gain access to the commercial traders section for a lazy $7 and support Rollaclub in the process here: http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?a...&CODE=index

1st Episode Of Top Gear, What Did You Think Of It ?
irokin replied to Budowski's topic in Rollaclub Social (Off-Topic)
The ratings disagree, shows not performing terribly well by the numbers. I have to admit, even as a BBC Top Gear fanatic, I'm yet to watch a full episode of SBS Top Gear. -
mmm, difficult one. It would see whatever we do results in the same moderation load. I think in reality we just need people to use half their brain and follow the rules.

What I could do is set the "Order topics by" to creation date essentially removing thread bumping all together. Individual users can return to the current ordering by changing the order in the forum view down the very bottom if they so desire. Ideally that would be combined with a Linear+ thread view. The other alternative is to turn off thread replies all together. We provide a very generous PM box space so its entirely feasable for people to communicate that way. Its up to you guys who use the for sale forums. If you think turning off thread bumping would be desirable the option is always there.

OK, I'm able to report the PM system in 3.0.0 is much improved. Instead of treating PMs like individual emails it treats PMs as private threads. You can invite a number of other users to participate in the PM and keeps a full history of all the messages that are part of that PM thread. It doesn't have a forward/back button but I don't think that will be so much of an issue with the new system. Currently the new version has just hit release candidate stage (3 days ago) so we could expect to upgrade in a few months. Regarding minimum post count to use the for sale area. We trialed this in the past and it had some rather bad side effects. We had the people who couldn't be arsed posting X times to get the minimum so they'd just post their for sale item anywhere with a line something like "I'm not sure if this is the right area (bullshit) could a mod move it if it isnt". Of course it isn't the right bloody area and they know it. Then you have the people that will post X times but they post utter shit. Say the minimum is 10 posts and we have 10 people sign up just to use the for sale area in one week. That's 100 rubbish posts that we don't currently have to deal with. Currently we have about 50+ registrations per week and I'm not sure how many are here solely to advertise in the for sale area but I don't think 10 per week is an unrealistic number. As it stands it doesn't bother me that people come to advertise and then may never be seen again. It means more potential items for members to buy, attracts other members through google search and can generate long term members. That said, because we don't have a minimum post count we have to be absolutely brutal in the moderation of the for sale area. Some don't like it and that's fine but the rules are very very simple to follow and if you can't be bothered spending the time to follow them then we can't be bothered giving you the ability to advertise here.

Thats one of my plans. I'm also considering having default saved sent messages that you have to force off. The bot wont be expecting it and quickly fill up the sent PM box. All existing PMs from that particular user have been deleted.
-
Its not really a security hole. What they're doing is nothing more than any other person who signs up is able to do. Basically they're using a human to break the CAPTCHA (reCAPTCHA is still very difficult to machine read and certainly isn't being done in this case), once they're in they setup a bot to mine the usernames of everyone whos not a admin/moderator and then send out PMs. Where there is a vulnerability is in the PM system with the lack of flood control. Even if we apply the patch and have flood control this wouldn't solve the problem, just make it slower for them. They would almost certainly persist but perhaps give us a better chance to catch them. My information is that they managed to send a PM to pretty much everyone but the admin/mods, some 6500 PMs! As I said, there is a patch for this issue but there are other issues with us applying it immediately. Most likely we wont have flood control until IPB 3.0.0 goes live but there are other measures we can take.

Several members have made me aware of a situation where spammers are using our PM system to distribute links to an expernal site purporting to be "The new site rules" or something to that effect. I don't have a solution I can impliment immediately aside from locking the accounts manually but I have a few ideas that I will try to put into effect sometime this afternoon. Part of the problem is that invision have flood control for posts and board sent emails but no flood control on PM's so they can send as many as they like as fast as the server will allow. Obviously for their accounts survival they don't spam Admin or moderators so I need your help finding these spammer accounts. Once they're found I will do my best to delete the PMs from the database before some users even read them so if you get a PM notification but no PM you'll know why. If you get one of these PMs: Don't click on the link Check this post to see if the member has been reported If they haven't please post a copy of the PM along with the username (without a clickable link) Delete the PM List of reported and locked accounts: zuratikl Thanks, Ben

From what I can see you have one post that's been deleted recently (I went back more than a month) the contents of which were: I'm sure you can understand that in the context of a for sale thread that just looks like rubbish to a moderator and hence it was trashed, just like dozens of other similar garbage posts are. Having a single post deleted is hardly a vendetta or frequent occurence. If any of the moderators did have a personal vendetta rest assured I would be out to stop that kind of behavior quick smart. If you do think this is the case I would appreciate a PM as I don't have the time to monitor every post on the site in order to be proactive.
