Cut and shut bellhousings are done frequently but not on corolla gearboxes and usually only when there is no other option. If you have the skills to pull it off, go for it, otherwise start trawling for a K-T bellhousing. Theres a reason people are pointing you in that direction.

I can't answer your question with any certainty but I'd imagine the KE70 diff is going to be wider than a KE30 diff. Probably starting to push the limit a bit.

The CA20 is a lump of dog shit frequently replaced by CA18DETs.

I agree with philbey. The only real weak part of the K50 is 5th. I've chewed out one already and I'm on my way through my second. The gearbox isn't really designed properly for constant 100km/h cruising.
