Hope Ben doesn't mind... They fit fine and as far as I know these are standard guards so with a bit of a roll etc they will be fine. Also, these can be had from any tyre shop these rims so there is no reason to buy them from that place :bash: Shop around you should be able to get them for about $200 a rim plus tyres. -
Went down today and bought an item. Friendly to deal with as always :bash:

Why would you convert from manual to auto anyway, your going backwards :bash: If you want an auto then buy an auto :D

M3Low'S 3Rd Ke70!!! As Well As Turbocharged Mx83
LukeAE71 replied to M3LOW's topic in Rollaclub Rides
Welcome.... I reckon I saw this being trailered down Kenihans Road one week night a few weeks ago. It looked in reasonable nick from what I could see. Good luck with the project mate and keep us updated on your progress. :bash: -
I wondered whether you were home, but I didn't see your rig out the front. You should have come over and had a geez :bash:
-
I didn't make it.... but car is running well now can't wait to get out there on some cruises. :bash:

I just spent the whole weekend driving my 20V AE71. It is wicked fun to drive :bash: No issues to report so I just had fun all weekend in it, even gave the wife a drive :D

I saw this car at Fours N More last night when I was picking up mine. It is in good hands there they do good work :y:
-
Should I bring mine out Tom???

I had no choice but to run the set-up I did. I could not run a standard ecu and I was not interested in the expense of a custom airbox set-up. I get what you are saying though and if you were running this in a FWD format where stock ecu can be utilised it is not worth the expense of aftermarket etc. :) Interestingly enough the tuner has his own AE82 with stock 20V running stock air intake and stock ecu and he showed me the power graph as opposed to mine. There is literally 5 kw difference between the stock set-up and mine but as we discussed I had no choice in the matter. Either way I am happy with the result and it wasn't all about power, it was to upgrade for a nice daily. It shits all over the 3 speed auto 4AC :y: I had dyno runs with both sets of trumpets and there were some interesting results!!!! I am going to hunt around for a KE30 brake booster this weekend and yes I have noticed they are much smaller. I wonder though what the trade off would be regarding pedal feel :lolcry: Anyway.... update: I took the car home last night all tuned up. It is really nice to drive. I didn't really get a chance to give it too much stick as I was too busy keeping an eye on things, making sure everything was running well and my custom cooling set up was working well. I am too careful sometimes and think I should have just sunk the boot in. I am pleased to report absolutely no issues (touch wood) and it is running sweet. :y: I gave it a little squirt in third up hill on the freeway and let's just say the kid next to me in his Magna was a little confused as the sound and movement did not match what he was seeing if you know what I mean. He gave me the thumbs up when I turned off, lame I know but I enjoyed it. Tomorrow is go time, going to take it for a good run and give it some well deserved treatment :y:

From what you post (here and elsewhere) it sounds like you have done a lot of research. Well done, most people just jump in without knowing much and can be disappointed with the end result. I researched the 20 valve thoroughly before I went through with it. I haven't had my first drive yet but I doubt I am going to be disappointed :y:

There has got to be a balance between time spent with family and time spent on your car. I know when I have upset the balance because my wife whinges at me to no end..... During that period if I even so much as look at my car I get told off. I sometimes go out and work on my car when she goes to bed, she can hardly complain I am not spending time with her when she is asleep. This also has it's downsides though as there is no special cuddles when you return to bed at 3 am in the morning nor is it much fun working outside under the carport in the middle of winter :y: I made it sound like my wife is a bitch, she isn't :y:

I am aware that there are a few 'grey' areas with this build. As it was supposed to be a budget build I am not going to go to the expense of getting it engineered. I am going to maintain a normal sort of ride height and I don't do skids and stuff so I don't plan on getting picked on by the 5-0. As it is the car looks quite subtle so I will rely on that to get me by. Also if a Police Officer has a casual look in the engine bay it doesn't look all that flashy, no shiny stuff, no big turbos etc. The local officer has already looked at it when he came past my house one day and commented on my nice weber carbys :sob: Shows how much they know hey :no2: This is also the last time I will address the legality of this build. 8/ Why would you buy an airbox..... you would spoil the no. 1 reason for having the trumpets!! Induction Noise  Get on youtube and search for 20 valve with open trumpets, the sound is absolutely horny  The bark I get from the T3 ones is insane  I'm not sure where I said it was better than others :P I'm not so concerned with the power level. It was more the fact that it runs and well, makes good power and also it was a second hand engine that I bought untested for like $700 so you just never know what you are getting. I am glad it pulled off and turned out to be a good engine. :y: I might make some changes later on, cam gears etc to see if I can break the 100 rwkw mark
-
BUMP this shit right to the top..... It made 91 rwkw's on the dyno Not bad for a stock second hand ST I pick it up tomorrow night 8/
-
No problem, they have just been slack and because I haven't had time to chase them up they have let my car sit there not being worked on 8/
-
You have bitten off a lot here, I only hope you can chew it all 8/

Update: Still have not received the car back from the tuner. It is supposed to happen later this week but I’m not holding much hope as it has been there nearly 3 weeks now. I would chase it up more but it is hard working full time and over the other side of town from where the car is. I have been busy at our local U Pull It Self Serve Wreckers lately. I pulled a full manual conversion kit out of an AE71 including Pedal Box, Master Cylinder, Gearbox and Tailshaft and Crossmembers (still can’t believe it was just sitting there and noone had taken it),. I have demolished it of all the manual parts well and truly. I plan to keep these parts for another project as they are getting hard to come by and I had to pay a huge price to get them when I converted this car. I thought $10 for the pedal box from U Pull It was a bit rough 8/  I also ripped two wind deflectors for my front driver and passenger door from the car which cost me next to nothing and are the ultimate nana mod. Hopefully I get the car back this week and can put up some more pics and a video for you all. It has been a long wait, and it might finally be over :y: Pics will be up another day of the wind deflectors on the car... haven't seen the car in a while :sob:

Would be interesting to know how much he would charge to do other people's KE's into two doors. Some people would be very keen I would imagine :bash:
-
ah ok.... Well I just did a little google searching and found a pic of a two door with flat front and got a little excited. This thing needs a flat front conversion then it will look pretty close to a jap TE71. It will be full of delicious awesome and win when this occurs :bash:
-
Nice... I have seen pics of this in various forums. It was for sale recently did you buy it? More importantly is it still in SA? Is it registered as a two door? Give us some more info most people would be keen to know :bash:
-
You and me both!! Was really looking forward to it today being a long weekend and all. If it takes much longer I feel it would just be easier to set it on fire :bash:
-
The bank balance needs to recover a little before brakes anyway  Just got a call from the tuner and the car won't be ready until next week now :bash: :y: :D :bash:

This car is more of a daily driver for me.... so I am not too fussed about it's overall handling abilities. I am more concerned with it being comfortable and safe. I know it sounds completely different to what everyone else goes for but I built this car for me. :y: I have my eyes on the T3 brake setup, and that only requires an upgrade to AE86 struts from what I have read so far. yum :bash: For now though I will enjoy as is. I have envisaged that the theme, etc will change for this build so when it is less required as a daily things will start to get more hardcore. Thanks for the nice comments Trav - makes me :D
