I'll be coming down for a looksie at all these Rollas. I live close to Birdwood too :bash:
-
These also double as the most period correct tow vehicle for your KE if you ever need to :bash: and also from the Toyota stable
-
Believe it or not someone in Adelaide also did this, so that makes two that have performed this stupid feat :bash:

Pics of trumpets as promised You can see the trumpet is just touching the brake booster.. prob needs about 2mm taken off the rim to make it fit. The sounds is insane. :bash: Yes my engine needs some tidying up, when it is running I will turn my focus to making it look pretty!!
-
Well the car was sold so I am guessing the motor sold too.... :bash: Just as an indication you would be wanting at least $4000 plus for a 7AGE package like this one....

Trav I spoke to the tuner and it turns out he is the Microtech Dealer for SA. He reckons that the car will perform much the same, but with a bit of a difference up top around 8000 rpm. He said I will miss about 5 - 6 kw also in overall power. I told him I was reluctant to pay the extra $300 at this stage and for him to just tune it. He is getting me a quote for the remap and said he can get better deals being a distributor for their product and it 'might' be cheaper than $300. I hope he is right. Even then I will have to have it tuned again after the remap to get the top end (8000 rpm) plus power right. I bought my Microtech brand new and I have already paid for it to be installed selling it now is not an option :P As far as engineering goes here in SA I should be ok as is. My car was originally an AE71 so 1.6L and the new motor is 1.6L. Also the engine prefixes are the same (4Axxxx) so it will just be a simple advise of engine no. change. I am going to run standard suspension with lowered springs (4.5kg rear and 6kg front). After driving it the other day even though it was not to it's full potential I can see the need already for some sort of brake upgrade :bash:

Sounds to me like the original police officer was supposed to send you to regency but didn't so they sent out another one with a "report from public" so they could finish the job properly. Trust me it has happened before. Nothing you can do about it though mate. Have a read in the SA Section there is a thread about how to make a KE70 with 4AGE legal. A lot of work though and it has to be done right otherwise you will be paying for lots of inspections. It may pay you to clear it with the 4k in there and then put the 4AGE in and hope for the best :bash:
-
You can't tease and then not at least put up a pic.... trial fit pic... come on :bash:
-
What, you think you might need a bagful instead :P I would make a comment about why you would install a harness only to sit on top of it and continue to use the standard seat belt but then you would call me a smart arse. Anyway enough, if you don't like people's comments/opinions/suggestions/advice either don't put up a rides thread or don't reply to the comments :bash:

Far out he is tiny... you get a real sense for that seeing him against a person Congrats mate and good to see he is coming along well :bash:

4age Into Ke70 / Ae71 Conversion - The Step By Step Noob Guide
LukeAE71 replied to Teddy's topic in Engine Conversions
About 4 grand depending on how much you do yourself :bash: -
Mate - lose the attitude :P As I see it he was only trying to help and it looks like he has built a few cars too. If you don't want advice or comments in your thread, don't post it up here for all to see. I have a rides thread, and I put it up full well knowing someone probably won't like some things I have done. I don't mind as the car is for me not them. If I was doing something unsafe or wrong, I would want someone to point it out Time for a teaspoon of cement for you young man :bash:

Thanks. I also found some info on Toymods yesterday which explains it as a common problem and some possible fixes.

Either you have really pissed someone off or you were doing skids somewhere in Adelaide.... Which ones it going to be :bash: People don't just randomly call in no. plates for the fun of it :P Also, it is simple I just wouldn't have gone home. I can't see how the Police had jurisdiction to come onto your property after a report from the public. I reported someone once because they busted a skid and nearly ran over my wife and nothing became of it. PS - was the officer the same one who defected you earlier?? Or from the same station. If it was he probably realised he should have sent you to Regency the first time so he came back with a dodgy report to do so. Check the defect notices and the officers no. If it was I would be making a complaint.

Come on guys play nice..... :bash: WGMG: Radio Censorship - it has to be either all or nothing imo. Why is it ok to have an ad about a film that describes things such as "going down" and "sucking" (and believe me it is about that) and it is not censored yet a song where the lyrics are "god damn" the word god is censored out. I'd much rather explain "God Damn" to my kids rather than "what does going down mean daddy?" when young kids are in the car. I don't even have kids yet but damn it grinds my gears :P
-
Do what you want mate you don't have to justify yourself to anyone :P Build your car the way you want, and you will enjoy the fruits of your labour :bash: PS - Superlights can be had for around $800 per set if you shop around - plus tyres of course

+ 1 whenever I see one I call it a Daewoo. I even asked one woman once how she felt driving her rebadged Daewoo, needless to say she gave me a funny look and flipped me the bird :bash: For the record I was in a f**k of a mood and she had cut me off in the carpark. I don't normally try and offend what people drive :P

Microtech LT10S I will get the tuner to run through how to use it. The book for it is still with the last mechanic and I haven't bothered to go down and collect it yet. At the moment I don't wanna play around with it. :bash: -
Thanks Andrew they arrived just in time :y: I am little crabby they have to be molested but that is not your fault. On the T3 website they fit fine because the car is LHD and no brake or clutch cylinders to get in the way. They nearly fit and it is sooooo close :hmm: I took a vid on my phone so i will msg it to you hope you can receive vids  EDIT: got a call from the tuner today to advise that I have a base map for 3SGTE turbo on my Microtech. I am now going to be asking some questions of the seller. I am not pointing any blame at this stage however the packaging had 4AGE 20V written on the outside so someone has made a stuff up. As it will be $300 for a new base map I am not impressed at all. :bash:

What Is Correct Operating Temperature 4age
LukeAE71 replied to LukeAE71's topic in AExx Corolla Discussion
Thanks Taz. Radiator has been repaired and working well. I am unsure when the fan turns on as it is triggered by the temp sensor and turned on at a set temperature by the ECU. I have been unwilling to play with too much on the dash display in case I f&&k something up. It is not triggered by a water temp sensor wired to the fan as those tridan ones are. I now have some questions for the tuner today :bash: -
Finally got my cooling system sorted out last night, works a treat now and no leaks at all. It gets up to temperature quite quick and you can really keep a close eye on the temp due to the Microtech dash display. Money well spent with that thing. Also fitted my new trumpets, sadly they don't fit by about 2 mm. The only area of concern is that they touch the brake booster just. This was more emphasised though when cranking the engine over and also when shutting down. When it was running they do not touch. While it is being tuned today I am getting them to machine a smidge off so they will work. I still ran it with them on, and my god the bark from them is amazing!! I imagine they will give more power than the ones I have on there at the moment too. Car is being tuned over the next few days. They need it for a few days to get the cold start right. :P I took some pics last night of the trumpets on and will put them up tomorrow. They look awesome :bash:
-
Ok so I am running a 4AGE 20V ST in a RWD configuration and so have a custom cooling setup. It is a non-bypass system. At the moment I am running an 85 degree thermostat and as it slowly opens the temp gets to probably 96 degrees before it is fully open and the coolant starts to do it's thing again. What is the actual normal operating temperature for one of these motors? I am wondering whether I should invest in a lower temperature thermostat but then I am concerned that the engine will run below the normal operating temperature and this is no good either. I understand that engines and their parts are designed to operate at desired temperatures due to tolerances etc. Looking for some ideas and discussion thanks. Luke

With a 7k in he should be able to does it up well :bash:

Yeah it does work and jumps all round the place. At times it hovers around where the Microtech Dash says the rpm is, but not accurate, and at idle well it just does not move at all. It may have something to do with calibration of the dash tacho to speak the same language as the Microtech Signal.
