  1. checklist: use water? no air in system? fan/airflow ok? no gunk in system? system holds 100 odd kpa? cap holds 100 odd kpa? thermostat opens? waterpump pumps? timing to around 15degrees? hg does leak? system pressurises too fast? bubbles in coolant?
  2. Haha thanks for the support. To each their own.
  3. Firstly, what car do you have? haha. Does it have power steering, air conditioning, manual/auto? If you can get a silver top they're slightly more powerful. not worth the extra money IMO. get your car regod with a 4ac, then say you blew it up and replaced it with a 4age. The RTA won't know its no the same.
  4. Dan's finished her! Super straight, he's a boss panel beater. keeps you up to date and in the loop. Honest bloke, can't recommend him more. She will be present at Winterfest on Sunday. Pics after then. Bumpers going on next. Then new suspension I think.
  5. How we looking for the 22nd? Getting excited.
  6. 5k definitely worth it, even if it takes you a week. I'm sure you know someone who could help with the conversion, its the simplest swap you can do. cheapest way is to flip the leaves and cut the fronts.
  7. rollaclub faq. all the info you need. there is a link on the rollaclub homepage. http://www.rollaclub.com/faq/index.php?title=Tech:Engine/A_Series/Converting_to_RWD
  8. I think it'll look a tad plain without anything on the side, but I'll have to see what it looks like. I'll leave it without so she matches yours for a while, haha. I need a new beaver panel, can't seem to find a straight one anywhere, mine is pretty messed up at the moment :( If you go past a wreckers in the next week or so and find one please let me know!
  9. ryco filters are now the same as the thai produced toyota filters. without the guarantee, if it fails. ryco filters from repco autopro are about 10-15$
  10. dan scutella, the bloke with the clean red 86 thats been showing up to meets. good bloke. its 2 pac white, with a clear.
  11. ʞ©$ɟ yea they look sick, super jelly. needs more low i think. can't wait to see it in the flesh.
  12. Id really like to make her look as 80's as possible, but I'm so indecisive... Cheers, trying not to be a crazy drift car. If you hadn't heard, the resident corolla makeover man Dan, is painting Nancy as I type this.
  13. Sorry about the wait, this is basically it. I hooked the power up directly to start off with, so when the ignition was off I could still adjust settings eg.map config.
  14. I'll have to when I get on my computer, the setup is the easy part. In the instructions it has the 4 types on ECM. Which one did you make?
  15. Haha ghetto, I love it! Do the cosmetic stuff last. Make sure she runs. Good score with the 5sp shame about the bonnet scoop, she'll come up really well. Gl mate
  16. Yea sorry I got 2 different systems mixed together, haha. You won't need the igniter. Sorry. The shielded cable is a good idea to and for the distributer, I found with my setup the signal kept oscillating every now and then causing a double spark and pre-firing.
  17. Hey mate, nice progress! With the jaycar ignition, I used the stock cool, with it's ballast resistor. You'll need to source an igniter too. I ended up using one from a generic igniter from a 80s range rover. Make sure you use proper insulated cable otherwise you'll get crazy electrical noise. Edit: just get a standard efi map, program it in. You'll have to tweak the map as you go along. A dyno is probably your best bet, but it's possible going up nd down hills all day. Good luck!
  18. Well done for keepin with it. Can't wait to see it, contemplating coming up to see it in person haha. Have you thought about sanding of the paint on the polished surfaces and repolishing them?
  19. Truly amazing Ben. When are you going to do my car? Haha.
  20. I was going to get a sign writer to do the stripe. It's going I be black to match the wheels. I like the idea of a short thick stripe, from the tail lights to halfway through the rear door. I'm gonna throw some ideas into photoshop see how they go.
  21. Thanks guys! I'm goign for not too over the top. but still out of the ordinary. Chrome bars going on next, and hopefully some new paint. If anyone has ideas on pinstripes I'm very impressionable at the moment haha.
  22. If everyone had a million dollars to spend on a drift car they'd go out buying coilovers etc. If you have enough money to spend on BC Ebay specials, might aswell get someone to make you up a set, specifically for your car. I was quoted about $1500 for custom ae86 front struts with height adjust, calipers, discs and pads. Decided I didn't really NEED them. If you don't have that kinda cash laying around, to spend on a drift pig. then random short stroke munroes will suffice. I'm not saying theyre the perfect shock for the best drift performance, and that's what mark block collins use. You don't need big bucks to spend, to achieve a decent car, is all I'm saying. I haven't seen an ajps lock spacer, so I'm not 100% sure on those. This spacer, the ends of the rack itself had offset threads, so the spacer wasn't perfectly flush with the diameter of the rack, and initially stretched the rack seal. The general population of racks might not be the same, again I don't know. It's not really a problem, but potentially could case a leak if not checked every now and then. But then again, a ke70 manual rack is free from most guys on the forums. EDIT: I'm running cut springs with short munroes in my car, No problems whatsoever, I've been in cars with coilovers all round and it's a much of a muchness. In my oppinion not worth the $1000 extra.
