Gonna strip off the busted/bent bits and take it to the bodyworks to see if rails are straight... If they are she lives... :) If they aren't she dies... :P $$ are non-existent right now, so its gonna take a while. I'm already sick to death of walking too!!

T2L sounds like the corner. It comes up quick too...
-
Hows that front apron/ stone tray thing?? Reasonable condition?? I may still have one up in Devonport.... But I'm not sure. Bumper is still good (surprisingly)
-
Any Hobartians who know the corner in particular (rh sweeps into a hairpin left, with a big oak tree on the outside of the off camber sweeper, where it becomes the hairpin), and saw the footage of the mini can see PLAIN AS DAY that the car was way, way , way too fast into the hairpin... Clipping a wooden barrier on the outside of the corner, just near the oak tree wouldn't have helped the braking distance either!! The corner would (or should) be marked as a 'triple caution' (for any rally-heads amongst us)... That'll give you an idea of the approach. For non-rally-heads, 'triple caution' is a navigation term meaning 'slow the f@$k down!!' Demuire should be able to enlighten us to the corner in question, describe the approach, what the notes or route chart say, and what sort of speed a mini cooper S would come in there at. (or not Demuire, your choice) :P Heresay says people were on private property, and were possibly moved by saety crew, then wen't back there once the safety crews had gone. Its called bad luck... Motorsport IS dangerous kiddies, and that danger increases if you are stand in a f@$kin' stupid spot...like a run-off area!!

:P Didn't die straight away. We had to travel down the road about 1.5km to a house (she heard the impact, and was already out of bed). She got her son to go up and shoot the bastard. I could have ripped that f@$kin' deer's head off with my bare hands, except there was a girl in the other car... So I wasn't allowed too. She was traumatised enough!! I thought later, the taxidermed head of said Deer mounted on a "Toyota Genuine Parts" sign (head coming thru the O in TOYOTA) would be a cool trophy!! :) :)

Whats Needed To Connect Swaybars To A Ke36?
st.nick replied to Raven's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
I was advised against fitting sway bars... especially to the rear!! For that exact reason; lifting wheels off the deck. A fully sorted, swaybar-less rear end would be alot better IMHO... Swaybar for the front should be the last mod on the list too (even lower in priority than Konis and adjustable tops apparently). I'm only going on advice from someone who is quite a bit of a suspension guru. -
UPDATE: April 29/30 2k6 Collected a deer early in the morning. Damage is fairly extensive, but thankfully majority appears to be non-structural (ie rails don't look damaged). However, if there is structural damage, it'll more than likely be 'good-night Nurse'... Lets hope not :P :) Stay tuned for more pics and documantation of repair (maybe some structural enhancement too??)

My KE36 van copped the wrath of a rogue deer on Saturday morning on the way to Targa. Ran across in front of us at (THE SPEED LIMIT)... Impact carried the deer about 30m up the road, and it then skidded to a stop after a further 20m. Damage is extensive, but thankfully appears to be all above bumper height. Fingers crfossed the chassis rails are unaffected. Bambi totalled 3 driving lights, grille, drivers guard, headlight, bonnet, radiator and support panel, and thermo fan. (I haven't started pulling off bits to find what else is damaged) Believe it or not the bumper and front apron were not severely affected!! My next question... Does anyone have a 'front cut' (forward of front wheel arches) in good condition with minimal rust that they want to be rid of (or sell). Bastard... Not a happy camper. :P
-
Update: James... You were probably the last rollaclub member to see the van in its former glory... My Targa stage ended up being a disaster!! We had plenty of officials in the end, but Wilmot stage ended up getting downgraded to touring (no competition).... One reason being that we were mere MINUTES from sending in the first 'fast' course car (Evo IV Lancer 'Zero Tango', at racing speed), when some inbred f@$kwit cruied up to us in a falcon ON A CLOSED TARGA STAGE IN THE WRONG DIRECTION!!! :P This caused serious delays, and forced the stage to be locked down. by the time it was re-secured and ready for competition, Command Centre said we had lost too much time to run the stage, and advised me to downgrade it... This was due to be the last time commanding Wilmot stage, and I wanted it to run smoothly. Adding insult to injury, we hit a deer on the way up in the morning, and totalled the panel-van!! (see 'game-over' thread) :) What a c**t of a weekend!! :)

In Reihard Klein's book "Rally Cars", the TE27 Levin is listed as: Live axle with coil springs and telescopic dampers. Also 185BHP with 16 valves and fuel injection... :lmao: Works car would been some fun!!!
-
Didn't the TTE works 'mangos' have rear coils??
-
Anytime you like, princess :lmao: Its easy... just practise, practise, practise!! :hmm: HAHAHAHAHAAA!!!!!!

(shit... that pic of the mini is a little bigger than anticipated..)

As I'm sure some of you are aware, we have Targa Tasmania asphalt rally happening all this week down here is TAS (Woohoo... We're so lucky!!) And, as I'm sure some of you are also aware, A couple of our forum members have pulled on the 'brown trousers' to go fanging around for a week... Here's Demuire's ride. 03 Mini Cooper S (S of course being supercharged) Tom210 is also competing, in the 'silly seat' of LC's 4AGE 20V powered clubman... couldn't find a pic... will have to snap one tomorrow :) Stay tuned campers.... More soon :lmao:

Is that PRC/ CAMS/ whatever Uk governing body legal?? Hmmm...
-
He he he... Depends who the audience is :hmm: No point pulling out crazy mash ups if you audience is a bunch of pissed, un-appreciative, top40 listeners. If anyone saw the American Music awards, what they did with Madonna and Gorillaz... Ive been doing that for a while. Not playing any clubs atm tho :) I'll get back into it sometime soon :lmao:

Nice looking unit... However, I'd be expecting flares, Levin bonnet, grille AND mirrors for that price!!! Oh and some rally flaps and kevlar underbody protection too!! And 2 carbon-fibre Peltor helmets!! But the thing would f@$king fly, thats for sure. I'd be VERY interested to see the specifics of the suspension setup. And... uhh... What does "turretted' mean??

Day 4 is Saturday, APril 29th. I am leaving here early that morning 0530, travelling up thru the central plateau and Great Lake regions to Devonport, then thru to Wilmot. Damn fine drive. Road closes at 1130 and re-open at 1630 (tho it may be earlier if thigs go well on previous stages). Travelling straight back to Hobart after the stage, possibly the same route as travelled in the morning. (Might stop at the Great Lake pub for a meal and a Beer??) It'll be along day, but a good chance for a nice drive, and some up-close sampling of some pretty sweet "automotive pornography"!!

It is more socially acceptable for males to go out and shagg everything they can, coz that's how its been since forever... Where as females are still seen by society as fragile, vulnerable, etc. A male who has a good 'tally' is a STUD :P, yet a chick with a good 'tally' is a SLUT :P in society's eyes. It is starting to change.... slowly. A woman who'd been with 8 men in the 1940's would be seen the same way by socirty as one who has been with 200+ today. As for Nitephyre's point... Its all true!! Most (Mere) Males :y: are attracted to the 'danger and excitement' of a bad girl... same as girls are attracted to jock-type f@$khead morons!! (sore point?? You betcha!! But thats another story altogether) Reasoning for this is that a female is looking for a protective, warrior type, to protect her from the prehistoric monsters (hence most women are attracted to fit, rough-around-the-edges, muscled figures) A guy could get laid anytime he wants ( I have a mate that does it.. bastard)... The reason it usually fails however, is coz what Males perceive as perfectly reasonable flirting and advances, more often than not misses the mark with a female's interest. Not knowing what women want I guess... Whereas a female can get laid anytime she wants, for the simple fact that sex is deeply ingrained into the male's subconscious urges. These urges hark back to prehistory, when procreation was important to the survival of the human race as a species. Women have moved on from this... But Neanderthol-brained Male still hasn't. Bottom line... Average male will shagg anything!! History of sexuality: lecture 1... over.

Not a 'musical instrument' as such but, Does a pair of Technics SL1200 turntables count?? :P Can't play music or compose to save my life... But sure can pump up a crowd with other people's tracks!! :P

My lil KE30 2dr sedan was my first car... and I still have her!! She copped lots of abuse... Sideways, outta control in the rain around a roundabout...on my Ls.... with 3 other dudes from school in the car!! Nearly ended up on the traffic island on the exit of the roundabout. The day I got my P's... carload of dudes... trying to do foot-on... BANG!!! No sungears left in the diff. OOps Also airborne over a crest, missing a corner and ending up in a (thank God fenceless) spud paddock... Buried to the sills in soft red mud!! Using her as an official car for a club rally. No helmets, harnesses or cage. Scaring Dad as we flew along gravel roads!! Beating a VL thru a twisty road. VL owned NOT happy!! And... err... the only car I have shagged in!! :P  (Owned the BMW for 3 years and STILL haven't christened it... :hmmm: I'll have to fix that!!)

Man... You aren't alone here on that aspect I'm sure!!! Not that this statement helps any... :P

What Carburetor Model For Ke70 (4k Engine)?
st.nick replied to ryu's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
Gemini carb is a common mod too... A few of the guys on here have done it, and as Nick said above, research will bring up ALOT of info. Check out the Gemini option, as I may also try this one out on my 4k sometime -
Even better... Try 505BHP!!

I orginally wanted to learn to drive in a 1968 Chev Impala!! :P I happened to see a little orange KE30 2dr sedan in a car yard... The impala idea went out the window.... and the rest is history. Corollas are great coz they are so easy to work on, so straight forward, easy to drive/thrash, and the Toyota Family parts interchangeability (celica/ corona stuff fits) is awesome for modifying them... GO THE ROLLA!!!!
