nice, straight lookin ride mate :P why u thinking turbo on the 5k? why not go supercharger? :)
-
you called for me rollaboy? me and my 150mm clearance will do just fine :P teddy is comin over next sunday to have a look, but I'm really quite happy with it i mean that bloody matiz is sitting on the ground, at least my intercooler will clear a normal carpark bumpstop (i hope) nice car corolla gurl, but I'm really not a fan of that kit....or daewoos for that matter. lol
-
i can't believe you just called me a try hard. havnt you ever heard of the concept of peak power, thats at 6000 rpm on a stock 4k if i changed gears at 3000 with the trailer on, i would be flat foot trying to maintain speed, they are not torque monsters so i don't change gears at the same stage as you do in a fowlcoon. (which is a torque monster) they love the revs :P

i don't understand..... :) that's funny. least it was something simple. lol yeah, when i pulled the rocker cover off and saw it there i was like...wtf is that thing lol. quick look in the book and i was like ooooh so thats a pushrod  just put it back where its supposed to be and no one gets hurt :) rolla boy, no one said they would run without oil :) top effort tho, driving for a few days with the oil light on b4 it blew good ol' toyotas :y:
-
lol how? forced induction?
-
i don't think you will ever come up with soemthing that everyone likes, but i think that would look horrid on a ke70, u need something tough, not something sleek (when i say tough, I'm thinkink old toranas etc)
-
cool i may try that sometime. the crazy clarks stuff just doesnt cut the mustard by the sounds of it :y:
-
i wouldnt stress too much about centre caps, i reckon they look alright as they are
-
wooo, go us private folk! lol I'm not really a fan of confrontation either, like ill step up to the mark when i have to, but there are better ways of going about it, and when it involves copious amounts of money, which a new seat might, id be very inclined to stand up for myself and remember the longer u leave it the more likely it is they wont believe u, just head in there and see what they can do for you, it can't hurt. :y:
-
lol thanks :y: yeah seemed alright to me 1: 160 2: 160 3: 145 4: 160 I'm pretty happy with that theyre meant to be around the 160 arnt they, with a minimum of 120?

fixeded :P i spoke to dad and he said the cam follower can only move so far so should the pushrod should go straight back in, and it did when i looked closer it looks like the adjusting screw had risen a fair way, so I'm thinking thats how it got loose enough to fall out the side if you throw abit of valve bounce it wouldnt take much with it slackened off how it was. prob explains the rattle i was getting on start up. so yeah, i slid the pushrod back in, adjusted the screw back down to hold onto the pushrod, turned it around so i could set the valve clearances on number 3 cylinder and spun it over with the plugs out incase id got it rong somehow. all seemed well so did a compression test for fun and then put the plugs back in and she was fairly happy, went for a spin around the block to warm her up, reset all the tappets and she's happy as larry :P so all in all, a pain free excercise :y: here i was thinking she'd broken....silly me, doubting a 4k lol

hey everyone, my unbreakable 4k...kinda broke was just coming home from selling and delivering my spare 4k, k50 and ke70 diff and coming out of the tolls with the empty trailer on i thrash it (its almost law that you thrash it coming out of the tolls :y:) and she sees around the redline in first, up to about 4500 in second then just normal driving but we notice as we carry on up the road shes one very sick little girl, feels like shes only running on 3 so bring her home, and sure enough, cylinder 3 is doing nothing different when u pull the lead off itl. so this morning did a quick test on the plug and lead, no worries. pull the rocker cover off and have a look, the pushrod on number 3 is sitting off to the side, so i pick it up and remove it, easy as that now my question is, what damage may have occured driving 40 or 50 k's with the engine in this condition? and can i just put the pushrod back in and rotate the engine until it comes up against the rocker again, or will it not sit back in properly? also why would it do this? because i set the tappet clearances about 3 months ago, and there wasnt any tappet noise to speak of, could it have been valve bounce? cheers guys :P

rolla boy, how is that you get more power when you arnt running dual fuel? is it because they are able to advance the timing further? u got your license 8 or 9 years ago didnt you? back then petrol wasnt much more than 65 cents, if that, so really gas is always around half the price of petrol. i disagree with you saying that you consume twice as much aswell. ive done some reading and the most people say is 30% more, which when you factor in half the price of petrol, it really isnt too bad i calculated, that with the 1ggte ke70 compared to the 4k ke70, gas will be much much cheaper A) because the 4k isnt enough power i tend flat foot everywhere B) becuase the 1g is lots and lotsa power i will be lucky to get flat foot very often. so just with that you can probably cancel out the difference in economy you get from gas compared to petrol, because the engine see's less time at what so now, i will still have reams more performance for half the price...seems worth it too me :P but my car came with the gas system so yeah, kinda different but what i would say to you rthy is that yes gas can go on any engine. in old engines not designed for ULP u will need oil droppers in the head, or some bullshit like that and as rolla boy said with a stock car, its really not going to be worth it, but maybe if you did a conversion, it wouldnt be much dearer than getting the ecu and getting that wired up. so maybe, when you decide to go something with more power (if thats your intention) do it then, and that way you can run more boost anyway :y: ive heard standard lpg has a RON of 105 and pure propane is 130...mmm silly boost lol so yeah, hope ive helped, and not confused

it may not even be because he was large in stature, if hes anything like me and having a bad day he probably threw himself into the seat in a huff. still shouldnt break the weld, and neither should a fat man, so he may have saved your life in a crash, better to find out now that u have a dodgy weld rather than 40 metres down the road still strapped into your seat (i heard of that happenin in an excel :y: ) but yeah, like everyone has said, go back, ask to talk to the manage, be nice, be polite, and then when they start saying "listen lady, we didnt break your seat" thats when you start making a scene, managers will do alot to make sure their potential customers don't see a dis-satified customer. is dis-satified a word :P maybe its unsatisfied :P private education and i don't know, woo go me! lol

at least u had the right end pointing towards the water :y: just to keep the idea rolling.... i just sold my spare 4k, k50 and ke70 diff and driving home, comin out of the tolls with the trailer on, empty so no more than a coupla hundred kgs, i gave it a bit of a thrash (read: redline) and then me and my mate are like, oh yeah, not soundin too healthy, and I'm like, shit she's got no balls, so limp the next 40 k's home, and it feels like only running on 3, so pull leads off one at a time, yep, sure enough, cylinder 3 is doing nothing. sooo, just sold the spare engine and on the way home from doing that i root the current one...oh the irony :P but yeah, i feel dum now, id been saying "ill look after this one, until i sell it coz i don't wanna rebuild it, and the other car is still a few weeks from finishing, and what do i go and do....blow the bloody thing up. hoping against hope that its just a lead or plug thats rooted itself, and if not that maybe a broken rocker, and if not that a munted valve not closing for some reason. i wont mind tooo much if its any of those, and I'm blowing no smoke, so i can't see it being anything else. but i still feel like an idiot :P
-
but not as tough as chuck norris, he'll just round house kick the paint off them back to a nice finish :y:
-
superglue works? what brand? my crazy clarks stuff didnt :P but then the spare parts car seal wasnt too bad :y:
-
it depends where that k50 originated from, as the speedo gears in some k50 are different to others. coz i pulled mine out and gave it to...him down in tassie, forgoten his nickname on here, but anyway, printed on mine was oh shit, ill find the thread, i can't remember hmm, falken ke30 is his name on here, and yeah the one out of his k50 had 5x19 stamped on it, and mine from the ke70 had 6x20 so it could have been somethin as simple as that maybe? hope that helps, might do slightly, the rest i have no idea
-
that part is evil, mine always falls off when i crank the stereo, really should sikaflex the bastard in would prob help seal up the boot from this moisture aswell, but the thing is theres bungs in the boot, and they prob let a little moisture in too. and where the quarter panel meets the boot floor panel, right down the side on the bottom, like the very bottom edge of the rear quarter panel, usually there are gaps in there which allow moisture in, but those might stop the bottom of those rear quarters rusting out quite so much, but in my opionion get something that will stop it rusting and spray it all in that, of course i didnt do this when i had my car stripped back, but if i do it again i will hope this helps :y:

alan, be my friend? hehe, love your car mate

ooh, anyone that hasnt heard, i got the car for 1300 :y: getting close to running now aswell, intercooler, exhaust and distributor mods left to do ke70-84 - depending how much you know about cars etc putting a dirty neesan engine in wont be any more difficult than any other conversion really. you will need to modify your crossmember so the engine sits on it properly, yes u will need the silvia box, and to change shifter position is easy, just grab the angle grinder and remove the bit of metal in the way of the shifter you would want to uprate your brakes, which will be the same as any other conversion and you will have to get the ecu wired up, or wire it in yourself, this is not something i want to try, but it wouild be well worth the result your stock diff would prob hold up _ok_ for a little while with the ca18de, and when you get bored with that you can go to the ca18det without too much trouble and maybe just a diff upgrade at that point would also have to convert fuel system to efi for the ca18de i think thats about it isnt it guys? but ke70-84, an engine conversion, if you love you ke70 if always gonna be well worth the effort, maybe get a el cheapo rustbucket to do the initial fabrication work into, so u know how it all works and know your issues, then put it into the car you want it to go into, as you already have the engine i think that may be the better option, coz if not having a daily driven project just doesnt work hope this helps and havnt scared you off, if ive mislead him, feel free to correct me guys :P
-
when you accelerate, and you puttin a lot of torque thru the wheels one will spin quicker than the other coz of flex in the drive shafts (whatever they call them) coz the diff in a fwd is rarely dead in the middle, so what happens is the car pulls to one side quite seriously when you give it plenty of right foot... basically car trys to aim itself at who you are dragging, lol
-
lol i remember skimming over that post in the email and opening the link expecting to read it proper and had deleted the email by the time i realised it had gone bye bye :y: i use photobucket its pretty great
-
coz theyre the spawn of the devil :y: yes it was. its hardcore uber nerd for "I'm a fat shit with no friends, and coz no one will ever like me ill make them hate me"
-
but that means you can't do hard launches very well. it comes with the territory of having a forced induction fwd car, not that i would turn my nose up at it :y:
