How's this rig going? any word on the wagon trailer?
-
Looking good benhachi keen to see this beast with some flares on
-
I'm keen, what time do you normally get there? No use me following everyone on the highway though, my car struggles to do the limit let alone what yours does in 3rd haha

It would be great catch up soon Carlos, maybe a small QLD - rollaclub meet in a few weeks? Brakes are great I speed up just to put the brakes on :P Little update: Finally got around to repainting the inside of the front guards to cover up the hideous red over spray left by one of the previous owners. Little touches like this really neaten the car up. Hopefully have the whole underside of the car done by the end of the week. before and after shots:

How much did it cost you if you don't mind me asking?

Looking good mhmills, twin charged K sounds interesting keen to see how that works out. Did you by chance get your strut brace off yahoo japan? Cheers Crowie.

I need a sham-wow... I'm drooling everywhere. Looking amazing mate I am seriously in love with this car. Cheers, Crowie.

Holy sheeeet this thing is nuts. Well done Wez; tight fit in the engine bay but I'm sure it will be well worth the trouble. I want a starlet now

N14 pulsar booster and pajero booster, I did a big write up on page 7, check and see if your fire wall is the same, may be able to work out what booster you have.

Fixed my brake rubbing issue, the calipers weren't returning and created heaps of rub from the first time I pressed the brakes. I though this was normal for new pads and rotors until they rubbed so bad I couldn't get out of 3rd. I tried everything I could think of to fix it, Finally played around with the booster and master combo and found a nut on the booster that engaged the master and wouldn't release pressure. Felt the brake pedal after releasing the nut and I have a lot more movement and push before the brakes engaged, Softer pedal with lots of bite compared to what I'm used to. Needless to say I nearly ended up through the windshield after I pressed it for the first time at speed :laff: Also quoted up the rim widening for my wheels, for those who are interested 400 each rim for brand new bands outer and inner and 60-80 for gutter rash/buckle repair. Hopefully they will be under construction by the end of the week. Cheers, Crowie.

My car finally off stands after 3 days of tinkering. Time for some brappin

It's a really worth while upgrade and it was quite cheap so I'm stoked with how it's turned out. These brakes need to bed in properly as the pads on the front slightly rub atm as everything is new, my pedal is firmish although I'm used to it as I've been driving my car around with a broken booster ever since I've owned it haha.

As I explained before my brake booster and master weren't up to the task of powering my new coilovers. So today I went about upgrading the booster and master to suit. Made a little tech write up to show what's involved as I think some people would benefit from it. N14 Nissam Pulsar brake booster and pajero master cylinder into ke30,35,36,38,55. Firstly remove the stock booster and master from the firewall, it's quite awkward getting to the 4 bolts on the inside of the firewall. I can not explain how good the following tool was to get the nuts on the booster. Flexible T piece with a long 12mm socket helps so much getting at those impossible nuts without removing the complete dash Then trial fit up the new booster to the firewall and mark out where the clutch cable input and rain lip need to be modified. The wheel arch also needs a slight tap to fit the booster, this is easily done with a hammer and piece of wood. grind a small section of the clutch cable input away and file smooth as shown also use some pliers or a hammer to lift the rain lip slightly. Next the shaft of the booster needs to be modified to reach the corolla pedal, trial fit the booster measure the distance from the center of the booster shaft and the hole in the brake pedal and make 2 steel plate to suit with a 8mm hole in each to suit the pedal pin. Fit the booster to the car and fit the booster pin through the pedal and make sure it has full movement. I had a problem with the n14 master cylinder, the brake line input is on the wrong side and when mounted to the booster the lines are unable to be fitted due to the strut tower. This is where the pajero master cylinder came in handy, it has the same bolt pattern as the n14 master. The brake lines mount on the right side of the booster so they don't interfere with the strut tower. Fit the pajero master and bleed the brakes and your done. Please note that this upgrade should only be done if you have upgraded your brakes as the combo is quite large and will be too touchy with your stock brakes. Any questions please don't hesitate to ask me. Cheers Crowie

The coilovers and brakes I picked up for $450 already assembled, also came with a spare strut leg and pajero master cylinder that came in handy today.

Got a n14 pulsar booster and master although I've found that i can't use the master on the corolla due to the lines hitting the strut tower, I'll go into detail when my photo's upload. Thanks phill, hurry up and put a thread of the wags or the 20. Gives you more motivation when people are watching haha

Just spent the morning down at nizz pro going through 180sx and silvia boosters and masters... after speaking to NISROLA about the upgrade he has. It seems they don't fit my firewall (to round) in terms of the rain lip and clutch cable input hole. The boys did find a master and booster from a n14 pulsar that looks like i could possibly squeeze it in there so i'll get cracking this arvo with lots of photo's. Maybe the ke30 firewall is different in terms of space compared to my 38... or maybe NISROLA has a similar booster to the n14 or n13 pulsar that was sold as a 180/s13 to him. Either way I'll nut it out and get some good info on upgrading the booster and master on a ke30-55. Cheers, Crowie.

Thanks man, Not too hard to convert just time consuming. They are a "pedders build it yourself coilover kit" welded onto a xt130 Corona strut that had the spring seat ground off. xt130 hubs, steering knuckles and bearings, ra60 celica rotors and mx62 Cressida calipers.
-
Ok, while fitting the coilovers I ran into a little trouble; corolla(ke30,55,70 and ae86) steering knuckles DO NOT FIT the xt130 struts. luckily these coilovers came with knuckles. The outer tie rod ends looked like they have never been changed in the cars history and were impossible to get off the old knuckles, so i had to remover the knuckle then unwind the tie rod from the tube and replace them with the xt knuckle and new tie rod. From the day I first bought this car I knew the brake booster was rooted, the brake pedal was rock hard and needs quite a lot of force to pull the car up; needles to say the brakes still functioned ok. The mx62 cressida calipers have a much larger piston area (almost 50%) so a lot more fluid needs to be displaced for the pistons to move and create force on the disk. Today I got all the brakes hooked up and bled ready for a test drive but I couldn't get any pressure in the pedal on the first 2 or 3 pumps. I've put this down to rooted booster and small master cylinder not moving enough fluid in one stroke to compress the calipers. So tomorrow I'm off to get some Dirty datsun s13 or 180sx booster and master combo to team up with my larger brakes. NISROLA has given me a few tips and hopefully I can nut it all out tomorrow. I'll write up a tech thread with lots of photo's for anyone interested. It may also be a good idea while I have the whole dash apart getting at the booster that I replace my crap cracked dash pad with a minty fresh non cracked item. Really enjoying working on the car at the moment, I'm researching to all hours of the night about random things to do with the car and what I should be looking at next to upgrade... I've got the corolla disease! Cheers, Crowie

They look the goods man, they'll look great on your 70. I'm running 14x6 +10 up front and 14x7 +-0 on the rear, not as much room in the ke30-55 series compared to the 70's but i'm determined to run my current rears on the front and widen the rears to 14x9 or 10 in the near future. This was my current set up until today artofliphkd, it consisted low king springs and a Subaru brumby short stroke shock... not to sure if you get the brumbies over in Cali. UPDATE TIME: Coilovers are in! but car isn't road worthy yet. More details in next post... this mini laptop grinds my gears to type with.

Black louver for sure Spencer, I demand MOAR pictures of the rims preferably some showing the face. Looking sexual! One of a few 70's I like. Good work cheers, Crowie.

So glad dreamers stop using this site and posting stories about how sick their car that never actually happens is going to be. Go back to boost. cheers.

Agreed. Looks dirty in 99% of cars and the remaining 1% are just faggots for following the fads like stretchers, flippy floppy fringes, and tattoo's that mean $#@% all. But that's a whole different argument.
-
Totally agree, the machined edges give the wheels a completely different look, can't wait until the fronts are also red I think it will make the car look 100 times better. What type of rims are you looking at putting on your car? specs? Cheers, Crowie.

+1!!!!! 32 people with rolla's in one place

WD40/inox the bolts and longer poles and more force!!!! that's about it for my advice, other than that you'll have to source a rattle gun. Cheers, Crowie.
