  1. I'm guessing you want to drift? Save yourself the hassle later down the track and just get a hilux or r31 diff shortened and the mounts relocated rather than fixing/ replacing a cheaper diff every couple of months. LSD is popular as they are legal for road use, where as locked diff are illegal and can be frustrating to drive daily. Disks are better than drums. Disks are easier to work on and maintain although drums will still get the job done.
  2. Looking good oh-ke, how much for the rear shocks if you don't mind me asking? Loving the new addition of center caps on the wheels too; looks amazing! Cheers, Crowie.
  3. How's the rig coming along Chris? any updates for the fans?
  4. Correct, ke70 and ae86 camber tops/top hats are a different bolt pattern to your ke55 camber tops so you'll have to change them over. Good luck; I'm looking forward to seeing some updates on the ke50 soon. Cheers, Crowie
  5. Hey Josh, Seen you chasing some black carpet in the other thread. Just received mine today from knox carpet on ebay. Looks the goods and was only $145 posted, not sure if that is in your price range or not. I'll report back after the weekend when I get a chance to fit it if you are interested in how it works out. Cheers, Crowie
  6. My mistake on the steering arm/steering knuckle front. I mistook the tie rods for steering arms in ke70 and ae86. :hammer:    Just went out and measured my stock ke55 struts, cross reference with the measurements on AJPS: http://www.ajps.com.au/parts/rca_ncrca.asp Of course they are not steering knuckles although they share the same bolt spacing as they go between the strut and steering knuckle. "Fit early Toyota's Celica, corona and AE86 type struts (85mm)" As you can see my stock ke55 struts are 85mm center to center; the rca's that are on ajps are also 85mm. Chillin has also confirmed that 86 struts do in fact bolt up to ke55 steering knuckles, and can also confirm ae86 struts bolt to ke70 steering knuckles. I can confirm that these ke55 struts bolt to a ke70 as well. Steering knuckles/arms whatever you call them do not need to be changed in order to fit ae86 coilovers into ke30-70 and ae71's. If you require more proof then I will happily take the 86 struts from my brothers car on the weekend and measure them too. I can also take a photo of some xt130 struts the bolt spacing for them is 87mm so you will have to change steering knuckle/arm to suit a ke or ae.
  7. 86 struts are basically ke70 struts with bigger brakes larger axle and a wider diameter strut tube. Either way the bolt spacing is correct and the steering arms and knuckles do not need to be touched in order to install. Rianwest may be confused with a popular swap that commonly coincides with coilovers into a ke70 by changing the steering arms to get better lock for fully H3c71c dr1f7s yooo?
  8. Edits: (hurr durr steering arm = steering knuckle) they bolt to the steering knuckle that will be untouched if the bolt spacing is correct between the new coilover/strut and the knuckle. (which they should be as knuckle to strut bolt spacing is 85mm from ke30-ae86) I have put 86 coilovers into a ke55(Identical to what OP wants to do) and I can tell you now we did not touch any steering arms. What you said about the brakes is correct though, if they are 86 struts you'll need to find some disks, bearings and calipers to suit. EDIT Horrible to understand.
  9. Yes you can use them, just take the old strut tops off the coilovers and bolt your k-mac adjustable camber tops in their place. Camber tops/strut tops are never built onto coilovers they are just bolted on above the spring retainer. Most coilovers come with them because it's easier to sell as a package!
  10. ke30,35,36,38,50,55,70 ae71,86 all have the same bolt spacing for the steering knuckle (85mm) although the top hat bolt pattern is different on ke70's and ae71,86's, Just change over your existing top hat onto the coilovers and they will bolt straight up. xt130 corona or ra60 celica coilovers are also a viable option although the steering knuckle needs to be changed over to accommodate the larger bolt spacing (87mm). The top hat also needs to be changed to your existing one to bolt up. Cheers, Crowie.
  11. Christmas in October! New carpet arrived and I finally figured out how to do the ball joints so the sigma LCA's are ready to be put in. Also bought some coilover helper springs to keep my main spring captive when the coilovers are wound all the way down. AJPS RCA's have been ordered to restore some front end geometry and should be here before the weeks end. Big weekend ahead installing above parts and finishing off the cut and polish job I started last week. I may also get around to leveling out my Silvia seats while I have the interior out as they lean towards each other slightly. Wheel barrels are about a week off... getting pretty excited. Enjoy, Crowie.
  12. This may sound silly but have you tried swapping the two hoses going into the firewall over?
  13. Try some ke30-55, xt130 corona or GH Sigma Lower control arms to get the top of the rim under the guard, 195's will be fine on an 8 inch rim also. Cheers, Crowie.
  14. Just read through the whole thread, all I can say is wow! Great attention to detail this is going to be one very tidy ke70. Eagerly waiting photo's of newly acquired rims fitted to this beast. Cheers, Crowie.
  15. Hey girls and guys, I've been attacking my paintwork over the past few days with some cutting compound, after my respray the body felt a little rough and the car had a matte finish to it. Slowly but surly I've smoothed it out pannel by pannel. Looking great so far pictures as always: I also got cracking on the GH sigma LCA's today, had to remove the rooted ball joints, I didn't really have an idea how to do ball joints but I found an article on toymods that helped me a lot. Never the less I got them out after no time and have my new ball joints in the freezer overnight so I can heat the lca's tomorrow and press them together with little fuss tomorrow. Cheers, Crowie.
  16. These work really well, just ease the guards out slowly, don't rush it because it'll end in tears. Good luck :y:
  17. WMMH: test fitting my mates 14x9 -7 mk2's to the rear of the wagon. Words can't describe how they look; still under the guards too
  18. I jelly. Looking good evski :y:
  19. Generally I'm quite fine talking about my car to strangers and tell them all about it if I have time/can be bothered. Although I don't lift the bonnet up or talk about things like security/ where I live. Also make sure I'm not followed home or mates bring people over I don't know. Call me paranoid all you want but until you get your pride and joy stolen and wrecked you wouldn't understand.
  20. lumpy cam in 5k too? my 4k sounds like a 1950's tractor...
  21. YAY! get this beast brapping again and scare some commowhores
  22. This is the rollaclub whore, please tame her and tell me your going to change the paint? what are your future plans? will be watching this one closely. Cheers, Crowie
  23. pcd is 4x114.3 and a good offset to run would be between +10 or +15. The stock offset is around +30 so you'll have an increased wheel base with more grip. Cheers, Crowie.

Fair enough, I've had my previous car broken into twice, first time they stole my $20 head unit and ipod and the second time the car and everything inside it. Not a good feeling at all. Someone blatantly setting fire to a car is just low, and I really hope you find out who it was so you can show them how you feel.

Grr that makes me so mad, not much respect going around these days. I would have been smashing heads together at the party to find who it was.
