  1. Quick question. Is that a ke55 dash? I have a 4/77 ke35 and I've got the early dash. Was there a change over? The rest of that car is very 35 so WTF?
  2. Took the Humpback out today on a shopping excursion with Mrs Bamboo. Some of the comments she made over the course of the day. It's not really fast, is it? I think the orange one looked better The heater is good. ( I spent a lot of time fixing controls and the tap to get it perfect, this is Melbourne!) What's that smell? My brother said the same thing this morning. The car has been locked in a shed for 4 years, and it's a 33 year old car. I have pulled the interior out and gernied it all. Still there is that FUNK of BO/CIGS/FARTS etc. Can't put a name to it, it just smells. As my brother said, it's not even good old car smell. More dirty, chickeny! I went to a candle type shop. I didn't even know about these places. They sold me some odour things that go in the ashtray. So now it's half seabreeze and half FUNK. I've got new carpets and seats to go in. I hope that cures it!!! Still, its running well and a nice drive. The hatch is already super handy. I cleaned the heads on the tape deck. It's been along time since I've done that. Found some old tapes. Crystal clear..for a tape. Got that stereo sound!! One last comment. It's 2010...why are you still tuning radios with a dial!!
  3. I know one in Melbourne. The old boy has gone. The apprentice bought the business. Their rep in the area was/is gold. So there is another solution! TRD I've seen the tool. Didn't know the manufacturer, but knew of it. Thanks for the insight.
  4. Good post Robert. My datto had saggy rear suspension, like all old indie rear ends do. As you said, a good aligner can fix it. I was cheap and got a strut bend. It can be done!
  5. I dispute this. If you need minimal camber change, find an old skool wheel aligner. One who only does wheel alignments. They can do strut bends. No you wont get 4 degree camber, but they can give it a little and sort out alignment!! Is it true? I have had it done on a datto 1600. Aligner even compensated more camber for the drivers side because I didn't have many passengers. Yeah, I know I'm not that popular!!!LOL
  6. Found these from my apprentice days. Gave 'em a clean. May even use them again. I don't think I asked to borrow 'em. Ah well. Comfiest overalls I ever wore!
  7. Holy SHEET. It looked like it had a nice interior but hadn't been washed in about 10 years! Still had overrated, original L number plates with a dealer surround!
  8. Across the road from where I bought the Corona. It was like the whole street had 70s Toyotas! Used my shitty phone camera
  9. Nice work. Looks like a good firsty. I'm sure you'll love it. Could you PLEASE ditch those hubcaps? If you want to have caps, head on down to pick a part and start searching for Toyota caps. They'll be cheap and look a whole lot better! Time for you to get out there and enjoy!
  10. Well, I picked it up today. I was Considering doing her up and making a cruiser. Luckily it wasn't too expensive. I had forgotten just how slow old auto coronas really are. I can ejaculate harder than it goes! Shame really, cause its got almost no rust and runs really well. came with all its receipts from new, in a file. The guy I bought it off got it in 1984 with 16,000 miles on the clock. He put a reco engine in it at 80,000 in 1992. Cost him a grand! If it was a rolla I'd be all over it. I know now why these aren't that popular. Still it's got some interesting stuff on it. I think the caps will look horn on the 35. I like all the AMI stuff like the badges and seat belts etc. I'll just take off what I want/need and then start parting it out. enjoy the pics Boo
  11. I don't think I'll get an answer, but I'll put it out there anywayz! The 50 handles sooo much better than my 35. I think that the suspension is set up for a 2tc..so the k engine is not stretching it. Anyone know the suspension specs between a KE35 & KE50? Not really that worried. Just love the fact it corners FLAT. Look out Arthurs seat!! Boo
  12. UPDATE!!! The humpback is on the road. Another 70's Toyota back from the dead! I transferred the plates from the hard top. Looks like my brother will have the spanking plates! Just sorting out the little stuff (like actually paying for spark plugs and not using whatever was laying around!)and ready for the Arthurs Seat thing. Looks like my brother might come too in the hardtop. Oh and as for the discussion on vicroads. went to Oakleigh today, No Probs. If you want bad, try Frankston. They have caused me some grief in the past!!!
  13. cross the leads and back fire start the engine. If there is any shit, it will blow it up through the carby. Easier then removing it
  14. That sounds like ignition. I reckon it might be something simple like a faulty plug or lead having a "break down" underload. As you said it's getting fuel there. The simple things first before you start ripping it apart. Remember the carb was working aok on the last engine. I've seen new plugs fail before!!
  15. Car is still in the old dudes driveway. Didn't really want to snap away while we were chatting! Picking it up next week. Pics will come then. This a photo the old dude took. Car looks 10 times better in real life!!
  16. Hi my name's bamboo and it's been 4 days since my last drink. That's not so bad. But it's been only 1 hour since my last car purchase. I'm home with my hands smelling of petrol and that dreamy look again! It's been less than 2 months since my purchase before that. Stand by to see a two owner 1971 RT81. First owner was a WW1 vet. Comes with all receipts etc. one spot of rust on LH front guard and bonnet rust. All trims intact, interior in good nick except the dash pad. Has some cool features like AMI seatbelts. Fuel pump has stopped working, but ran well with petrol down the carb. Towing home next week. More friggin photos to come.
  17. Yep. Next time your free Dave....I'll have a Humpback!
  18. Anyone who has seen the other things I've done knows I have no patience! If I get a project it must be done. And so it is! So from purchase to RWC is TODAY :P :bash: I'm the happiest monkey in the shed. Just gotta book it in for rego! Bring on the next cruise!! Boo
  19. I was impressed with the way Spain played, they deserved to win!! Just one more early morning to go. Still, I'm going for the Oranje!!
  20. Nah, that's the day i'm booked in for the RWC. Next time
  21. Well this is it, after dicking around with engines for two weekends, I now have a 4k powered humpback. Painted my favourite engine colour, Chevy orange. I also have some XX rims on loan which I quite like. I like stockies, and they seem to suit the car. RWC next week and it'll hit the road, ready for the next cruise! I also got around to decoding my car. No surprises really. K E 5 0 Right hand drive Liftback Manual (5speed) Deluxe Q- Australian Market Silver with a black interior and a 4.3 diff. As I said, no surprises.
  22. All my predictions are OUT! I now figure it'll be Germany v Netherlands. After what happened to Australia..... Go the Orange. However, my head tells me that Germany will take this one!
  23. he sits shaking in the corner.....two whole days and no cup!!!! :) please come back!
  24. Sounds good. Meet at Morinington Park on Schnapper point drive Take the Esplanade from Mornington to Safety Beach. Go to Arthurs seat. Somebody come up with a date and a munchie place please?
  25. I just wish they'd pull that Ronaldo castrol ad. It's doing my head in! I was stoked he is out, just way too smug for my liking. I agree with your predictions, but I think Argentina will pump Germany and an all South American final.
