umm Centre Road, is in Centre Road. Clayton/Springvale. It's about 5 minutes from my place. Evan G tends to pop in when he gets motivated to do a centre road trip. There is a sweet ke55 round light grill there at the moment. Gotta be quick. This may be argued, but the most RWD 'rollas pass through here. I get the bonus of livin' so close. Boo

Aaron, The grills turn up at centre road wreckers now and then. The last one I saw, about 2 months ago got crushed. I'll keep my eye out. If you source one before me, just post it up so I know. Otherwise, the next one I see I'll grab it and pass it on. My brother is driving my old KE35. When I had it the grill got a few comments. I'll call it. tassie, including Launceston is a beautiful part of the world. But for car bits, it is a boat ride away from the main land, so you may call it woop woop. I'm Melbourne born and bread, but I appreciate how far parts can be for my southern brothers. I say that knowing that some of the best rollas in the land come from the low k island to the south. (including Taz Rx). For some the cup runnith over, others it is a desert. Great idea, and look forward to updates.

Idle jet may be blocked. Quick fix is to swap number 2 and 3 plug lead over and start it up. Using a bit of gas pedal, it'll backfire. This will clear the idle jet. Swap the leads back to their proper place and it should idle. This is the no money fix. Boo

M engines naturally run warm. All blow head, pun intended. But they go forever, it's a Toyota after all.

Pop off the clutch cable circlip unbolt the cross member wriggle it out. It's hard to say you haven't missed something without seeing it.

Spent the unofficial Melbourne cup long weekend in gippsland. Drinking way too much, water skiing in a mate V8 boat and crossing rivers that no 'rolla could cross after the recent rain! Also got my centre road wreckers roof racks on. 9 bucks each. Off a mitsubishi van. As much as I love the 'rolla, this is the car to see Australia in!

On the last cruise, I thought I'd get away with it. I gave the humpback the "garage" spray to get rid of the surface rust, not mention it, who would notice? All the eagle eyes did. Imperfections a plenty. Here are the results. Boo

So we all agree. The factory redline is 6250. It isn't recommended, but the question asked was, "what is the redline"? I usually don't go past 4500.

E, you are correct, power is under the redline. Where the engine won't break is the redline! I hit 6 grand coming out of the park in Buxton. That was FUN

I've got a factory tacho in my KE50, it came with a 3k, and the redline is 6250.

It's only paint. My first trip after finishing my valiant (7 years) was to the painter, to get all the nicks fixed. My worst was when I scratched it, threw a stumpy screwdriver in anger, it bounced up a scratched the drivers door! It's one of the inevitables in a long term project!

Now I'm worried. Don't worry about the murder thing. Just sleep where all the truckies do. Get RACQ total care. They'll tow you home from anywhere. (well RACV do). Best 160 buck insurance you'll ever spend!

Matt, There is only one way to test the car, drive it. As for the rubber, go slow....that way I might be able to keep up!

You'll be fine. My theory is your not going to the moon, just down the road. So on your trip, they have these things called shops. If you need something, you can buy it. I'd pack: Points One front wheel bearing (pre greased for convenience) Length of heater hose Water container (empty is fine) duct tape zip ties Length of wire handfull of random nuts/bolts test light/fuses and the most important thing.......tools Because if you haven't got the tools, you can know what's wrong, you can't fix it! Drivers door lock problems? No money fix required? Try the "Bamboo" fix and swap drivers/passengers locks. Although this recently backfired when my brother rang me. I sold him my hard top KE35 which I had done my patented swap. A clip broke in the passenger door which required a "break in". No other access available. He's a Brickie and used a trowel to lever the back window, and a rod to push down the winder. Still it's a free fix to those driver door problems!
