  1. Nice work. Look forward to seeing the progress. I have had plenty of FWD cars. Just makes you more creative in the tyre selection & pressure department. Boo
  2. Ke30 is imported Ke 55 is Aussie Calipers and discs are also different
  3. Brother in law has a Honda Step wagon to accommodate your need for a large bush.
  4. LOL :lolcry: Bonsai or full size?
  5. So the in-laws in Japan have bought a new car. The father in law is a Toyota man. Back in the 70's he had a Mitsubishi Colt (saw pics, real old skool JDM beast) Water pump went and blew the engine. So from then on, a Toyota only man. He had a Toyota Ipsom for about 10 years. The Shaken (yearly RWC checks that get more expensive with age) was getting too expensive. It was cheaper to buy a new car. So he bought a Ractis. http://toyota.jp/ractis/ Basically a Yaris with a mini van body. But because he is a petrol head he bought the big block 1.5!, not the 1.3! So on my next visit, I know what I'll be driving!
  6. Thanks for the comment. The last three were from an old gold mining town, "winchester". Closest spot on a map will be Talbotville, another old gold town. Threw another photo in for you, shot from the river. Was by far the best spot.
  7. So I got a week off before Xmas and went camping in the Victorian High Country. Spent seven nights without ever going to a town. No phones, computers, news or tv. Pure bliss. I took two books, the saturday paper and loads of food and grog. Went to three spots and just chilled out.
  8. Where are you?
  9. Hey big fella, What's the step ladder for? Car's on a hoist :blinks:
  10. Ah, Evan, you made the fatal mistake by not inviting me along. I know the place backwards! It all seems easy, until someone looses an eye!
  11. Of course they'll be the original colour! On the corner of Blackburn & Dandy road there is a paint shop. The guy is a great colour match! I plan on getting a litre of colour, & spraying them! I can't help it! Stock is cool! Thanks again ben for the pics Boo
  12. Ben That makes sense. Mine came with stock 'rolla wheels. The only difference was the centre caps had light blue paint around the "T". Not the standard red/black. So I'm super happy with my latest purchase. Thanks for posting up the pics. Boo
  13. Ben, if you've got more KE50 pics, please post them. Got a heap of winfield blue ads to go with it! :lolcry:
  14. Bought a magazine off e-bay. Features the new liftback 'rolla. Ah 1976. Also came with a bonus KE30 ad on the back page. So Dave has come to the rescue yet again and sold me the rims off the T18 he wrecked. This ad confirms they are the stock rim for my humpback. o Plan is to clean 'em up, get the colour paint matched, give them the patented Bamboo backyard respray, fit some tyres(Dave and his skids) and have an even more stock/ugly KE50. WITH WORKING A/C!! :)
  15. Centre road. Dude, they are evil. Sunday is the best day. All the evil f@$kers have the day off.
  16. I'm heading down about 10, tomorrow. I might see you there.
  17. Why do make wanking sound like a bad thing. I'm an eggspurt.
  18. f@$k. Dave will have something! I've got his number if you need it
  19. The sort of job I've done a hundred times, but putting it into words :blinks: You need to go down to your local DIY wreckers and practice, that way if you f@$k up and break something, you can walk to the next car. This job is pretty much the same on ALL cars (read Toyotas) with the same style doors. Good luck
  20. I got into rolla's after I was given a KE35 last year, started googling and then got into this. It's nice to know you're not the only freak in the world. Saying that, if the forum fell down tomorrow, I'd still be dicking around with cars, i'd just have to bore Mrs Bamboo with the latest gadget/fix/amazing thing I'd come up with. Today I bored her with the latest head unit purchase. I saw the eyes glass over after I said "for the car.........' These things come in waves....but Toyotas rust forever!
  21. One camping spot please. Boo
  22. Stroking my own chain.... It went back last wednesday and got A/C controls fitted. Before it went I fixed the heater tap (seal inside had gone) and fitted an A/C button-switch from a 78 crown. Drove home in shorts and thongs and couldn't feel my feet,it's F...... cold! Got out and opened the bonnet. Condensation on the A/C pipes on a 30 degree day, after a half hour drive. Looking forward to summer. Nobbler, pencil me for the GOR cruise. Guaranteed to be the slowest & the coldest! Boo
  23. Benno, You've just shot yourself in the foot. The proper romaji would be 82! Mrs Bamboo is Japanese and looked over my shoulder. hati zyuu-ni is not the sound. Trev, your hachi ju-ni is correct. Pronunciation is what your aiming for. If we're playing the pedantic game, when writing your post, ensure you don't use American English spell check. Itemise comes with an S, not a Z. I am not a grammar Nazi, I just get cranky when people get on a soapbox and have obvious mistakes in their post. And benno, when making blanket comments like nobody here speaks Japanese be careful! I'm calling it. You don't have a clue. daiyo!
  24. Oh the joy. Took the humpback to a friend/auto elec who does air cond. Asked him if we could reserect the A/C and left the hump back with him for a few hours. He vacced it out, put a heap of oil in the pump, hand turned it over to lube it up, put some gas in and tested it. When I came back he said, good news and bad news. Good news. The A/C is tight. Holds pressure, all mechanicals work and is super cold. Fridge cold, amazingly cold. Bad news. The rotary switch that controls the A/C is rooted. Actually the computer that controls it. Yes you heard right, a computer in a '77 'rolla with a carby and points. He found it weird enough to call the apprentice over, and demo it to him. It's not everyday you get a '77 POS Toyota in the shop with a computer controlled A/C! Plan is to take back Wednesday and fit a simple, mechanical type switch/thermostat to the A/C and I can spend the summer in "no power" A/C bliss. Also mentioned, the receiver/dryer has flare fittings, not o-rings. Super uncommon and not likely to be available. A usual replacement on a A/C fix. But if it ain't broken, don't fix it! Boo
  25. Looks to be reasonably rust free. These things are great. A 60's ute with a full chassis and ford five stud pattern. If my drive way bigger, I could afford reg and find one, this would be love. That is a lot of ifs. Tom, I know it's your friends, but I would go down this road. The early 90s cressidas are going for peanuts. Transplant engine, interior, for a rat on the outside, air cond luxury bus on the inside. My 2 cents. Please keep us posted on the build. Boo
