Wow, those early 'rollas didn't have a lot of horsepower.

I wish. I spied a Scamp in an industrial estate near Melbourne airport. But it has been out in the weather a long time and the body is shagged. I'll keep looking though. I like the idea of a 2 cylinder aircooled screamer.

Nah, tight arse acrylic. I'm going to clear coat it and when it hardens, cut it. I think I'll pick Ben's brains for the detailing. Few more weeks and I'll start screwing it together.

So I was thinking today, we've got lists and pics of our cars. What about those cars that haunt your past. One you wish you hadn't got rid of. Others your glad to see the back of. These are my pics. I've still got to scan a heap more. Please post yours. Bamboo

Sold this a few weeks ago to a couple of mates to use in the "shitbox" rally. They drove it home from my place. (about 40ks) They keep threatening to start a thread on the build. So M and BJ, start a thread! Oh and they need a bonnet. So 'rolla peeps keep your eyes peeled. Seen death proof? That's the car's theme. Stuntman Mike's beast! Bamboo

Sounds like a trip for the LANDCRUISER. Vehicle comes with it's own accommodation. I can't look that far into the crystal ball, but if all the moons align, I AM THERE. Bamboo

As it's a little chilly at the moment, I've convinced Mrs Bamboo to allow panels inside the house to dry in between coats.

Ok, The 'rolla is nice, safe and reliable. I agree, that's why I have my grandpa car. I got the civic going with a manual today. Holy SHEET. Chirping through the gears up the street. The last time I had one of these I came within 1 point of loosing my licence. As this was Mrs Bamboo's first car, I'll leave her with the last word. On her first ride she said, "It's not the same car". Attending cruises to follow. Bamboo

So I decided to cheat on rollaclub and join a Honda forum driven by the fact I've got a first gen civic. http://www.1stgencivic.com/world/c1zr/m1/forum/index.php The forum is friendly enough, but the size is tiny. If three people are on at the same time, it's considered a win. Saying all that, I plan on meeting the few in VIC. They seem oldskool cool. Permission from the TCCAV requested to invite them to a TCCAV donut meet? Bamboo -

um, did I go over it? Well, lets just say i used no happy fat before I gave it one. I took RH Door Rh Guard Dash All seats pedal box and shifter indicator switch assembly trims rear bar Basically anything on it that was overrated. I just could not help myself. Now with those parts and the parts car I am well and truly set.

Picked this up today for 80 smackers Spiders were free. Been sitting behind a shed for a number of years. Was a receipt from 06 for a new radiator. Coolant is still very green Has a new exhaust. It was running and used to teach kids to drive in, then dad stole the alternator for his generator. So then it sat. Body has surprisingly little rust. Just no paint. He didn't want it to go to scrap, so all the goods bits will be going on the other civic. boo

I keep seeing threads started asking how much is it going to build XXXX engine. I've just finished my 4k, so I've done something I rarely do. Work out the exact price. I had some tools already, so I've only calculated the tools I had to buy. I also chose to build a second engine with a damaged sump, so that was also an extra expense. I could have built my own engine, but I chose to drive around with the old one while I was working. I utilised e-gay a bit, waiting for the right priced stuff to come up. Build time was around three months, but then it took me three months to extract a digit and fit it. Oh and as always, thanks for your help Dave. Engine $ 50 Sump $20 Sump gasket $20 Vrs $30 Pistons $70 Head machine $60 Valve lapping tool $12 Valve spring compressor $35 Welch plugs $12 Sealants $15 Paint $15 Total = $339 minus tools and engine block/sump = $222 Motor is now super quiet and smooth and has quite a good amount of puff. After run in, I'm going to give it some stick and see how it really goes. I've ordered a carby rebuild kit, so that's the next job. Bamboo
