  1. My brother is still getting around in the old goon. He's finally taking some pride in his cars and keeping the wagoose clean. Now sporting ke36 rims, caps and a ke55 five speed with an exedy clutch. The things i do for free!
  2. Funds keep growing. Still more is needed. Oh, I'm now not only Bamboo, I'm also the silver fox!
  3. Sorry, 16v black with blue writing saying 16v. Basically, not a red top.
  4. Twinky at centre road Blacktop and mostly complete.
  5. I checked today. The top screw hole has pulled through on both trims, so they're ucked. You can have em if you donate. Bamboo
  6. Shitbox Rally 2012 The story of three blokes, a Corolla hardtop and a very big country. About a year back, a friend of mine, Mike, began talking about the “shitbox rally”. This is a long distance rally that raises money for cancer. The reality was Mike just wanted to have a ball road tripping in an old car across the country. 2011’s event was Brisbane to Darwin The name of the game is to get hold of a shitbox on a budget up to $1,000. This includes registration and roadworthiness. If you spend a lot more than the $1,000 budget allowed i.e. you cheat, the rally will take your car from you. When this year’s event was announced, Mike was pumped. Melbourne to Cairns via Cameron’s Corner (where SA, NSW and Qld meet) from 14th to 21st April 2012. Mike then recruited two workmates, BJ and me. Although now working in the public service, both BJ and I are qualified mechanics with a “thing” for Toyotas. Now we needed a car. About three years ago, Mike had given me his old KE35 Corolla hardtop. The reason it came so cheap (free) was because of the huge amounts of rust in it. I bought a welder and started plating. I got it looking good and drove it for about a year. I then passed it on to my brother the bricklayer. He then used it as a brickies work wagon. You can imagine the results. It has also developed more rust. My brother replaced the hardtop with TE278U's old KE38 and I inherited the hardtop. So as it’s still in my name, has been both Mike and my car and BJ has had the privilege of working on it, there could be no other car. Known by some as “Hong Kong Phooey” (Phooey for short) and by others as the Mustard Ferrari, three grown men are going Melbourne to Cairns in a Rusty KE35 two door hardtop coupe with a 3k, 4 speed and vinyl interior . Fights have already broken out over who is sitting in the back. We’ve rounded up some 14” lite ace rims with light truck tyres to help with the gearing and road conditions but more is needed. We need struts and springs because it has some front bounce issues. But most importantly we need FUNDS. Remember it is for a cancer charity. For donations tax deductions apply. Also if you have a company, for a minimum $100 you can sponsor us and have your sticker on the car. Obviously we’d bring the car around and have a bit of a photo shoot at your business etc. So there you have it. The sponsorship/donation site is http://www.everydayhero.com.au/mike_and_the_mechanics Thanks for your help Bamboo
  7. All, Myself and two mates are taking part in the shitbox rally. 7 days from Melbourne to Cairns in a KE35 via Camerons corner in april. Yes, three grown lads in a '35 from bottom to the top in a week. We NEED donations (to the cancer council) as it is a 4 grand minimum. All donations over 2 bucks are tax deductible. The car is? My old hardtop. If you have a business and donate over 100 bucks you'll get a sticker on the beast. Please give. I'll post a heap of pics for shits and giggles that go with it. http://www.everydayhero.com.au/mike_and_the_mechanics Bamboo
  8. And if it needs to be said, I'm always in. I'm happy to pick up any shitty tasks that need doing.
  9. Is there a footy game on? Every time I travel west, people want to engage me in footy talk. Doesn't have wheels? Not interested!
  10. Now I'm not. Mrs Bamboo has booked a holiday!
  11. You're on
  12. Confirmed. My brother lives down your way Pozman and now drives Dave's old '38. He used to drive my old '35, but it wasn't very practical to carry tools in. I left the Rolla club sticker on.
  13. Spring has almost sprung. The idea was always to spend the shitty winter fixing the civic so I could enjoy it. Melbourne is starting to feel normal again so I took Mrs Bamboo and the fur kids out for a Sunday drive to a park in the hills.
  14. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/PERFORMANCE-7inch-CRYSTAL-H-LIGHTS-SEMI-SEALED-/300227052421?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item45e6ed4385#ht_2772wt_922 I picked em up to save freight.
  15. Sorry to be picky Parrot, but on petrol powered vehicles 83/00 is on applicable to vehicles manufactured from 2005 onwards Thats the thing about ADRs. Manufacture date is key. When I presented my 2/76 Honda to the EPA I learnt that the first pain in the arse pollution laws kicked in 7/76. Got a sniffer in the bum and nothing else. With an open air cleaner. The same friggin thing I got the canary for!
  16. Not finished, but getting there. Plenty of faults I can pick on. I can't cut the paint until it hardens up. Still ok from a far, but far from ok!! I'm having fun buzzing around in it again, and it looks a damn sight better than before. the 13's give a heap more traction, all the better for ripping CVs apart.
  17. Another weekend in the shed. I went JDM with the front indicators. Cleans up the front nicely. Just gotta put the interior in and off we go. Needs a cut, but it's been so cold the paint isn't hard enough yet!
  18. I was under the bonnet of the '73 silver wreck today grabbing a few things. '73 civics are pretty rare things, a bit like the first ke10s. My turquoise beast is a '74. Until I saw the silver one I always assumed the civic didn't make it here until '74. I noted today that the stickers under the bonnet were different. There is an extra one near the radiator. Luckily the glue is so dry it just peeled off. So I glued it to mine. On closer inspection I realised why this sticker only came out on the '73. Check the Japlish!
  19. Nah, I reckon you A boys have me....just  things are happening in the rear. Even though it isn't "hondamatic" any more I thought I'd keep the badge. Manuals just have two rubber plugs where the badge holes are. And it looks more granny
  20. Centre road wreckers has come through again. I've scored a set of genuine bumper over riders and Honda mud flaps. Painting is finished and assembly has started. The goal is the next donuts cruise. I challenge any k powered 'rolla!
  21. I'm showing my age, but it's not what you say, it's the passion you use. And metal isn't the speed of the drum beat..that's thrash! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a444oGYCWmY
  22. A horse with dish? Or a horse dish?
