A set of valve clearances A bucket of compressed air And for the apprentice who gives you the shits, the explosive bit of a party popper, half way inside a cigarette. Puff, puff, boom!

my 2 cents TE51 (close cousin of the KE50) http://www.google.com.au/images?hl=en&...q=&gs_rfai= edit: TREV your right TE37 Grill has a different angle. I can see how they can be confused.

My hands all lubricated, I can do 2 reps of a K50 'box. After that it's usually in the hole. Lights on and no hair around it! If you going to lift stuff over your head, you gotta have a reason

Commas are not spelling. They are grammar! -

Babies know that the louder and more often they cry, the faster their parents will show up at their cot! Might I suggest you eat a bag of concrete. -
Sounds like cheap wheels to get you camping. Although I have a soft spot for Toyotas, the Mitsubishi should do the business. When your ready to upgrade, head down to the local backpackers and sell it for a profit

On Friday, the N13 got a RWC. Not bad, my blood blister gets a perfect car for $750, on the road, in 2 weeks. Best part is the car has now left my driveway! Oh, and my sister commented on a test drive, what is that clock to the right. (tacho) She said she'd prefer a clock to a tacho! You cannot win!

No idea whose it was. Still had original A series rego plates. Had straw hats on the parcel shelf. True granny spec. I left it alone. :jamie:

Small update. Finally got the number plates re issued. Shiniest thing on the car. Still waiting for Melbourne's drought breaking winter to end, before I attempt paint. Also re wired the cig lighter to accessory power so my radio/usb player actually turns off with the ignition. Managed to blow a radio fuse and found out the radio fuse is the mini 5 amp type last seen on really old holdens. Got some tin foil and a regular size tube fuse and adapted. Then went to the supermarket and spied a stock ke55, I had to park next to it. Got the phone out and took a couple of snaps. Grainy, but give that 1970's brochure feeling. Inside the '55 was stock with a traumatic. Had the original console with tape deck.

cool bathurst photo of a KE10. picture is copyright, so link only. http://www.autopics.com.au/cache/item-7679...c.html?cache=no http://www.autopics.com.au/cache/item-5611...c.html?cache=no

I used to enjoy Bathurst. Until it became a no horse, vanilla slice race. 2 makes, with no real variations is not that exciting. You can lay a bet and there is a 50% chance you'll win. Why was this race invented? To have car makers show their wares. Loads of manufacturers in different classes. 'rollas were raced. And now? It is now just a way for 2 car manufacturers to have bragging rights on cars they don't build. Just make sure your girl friends are safe, 'cause the bored lads will be on patrol.

New date means I'm out. Got that weekend booked taking the 'cruiser up into the Mountains. Any one fancy their 'rolla beaten over 50 klms of dirt road up a mountain, down the other side and dragged through some creek crossings is welcome. I camped there last July in snow! My "other Toyota" needs love too.

As you stated, practice. Advice given to me from a boiler maker, mess with speed and voltage until you come up with the desired weld for your project. It'll take a bit of patience, but you will know when you've hit it. No blow holes and clean welds.

I vote the L300 Mitsubishi. Van = Good
-
this is a little too expensive http://www.carpoint.com.au/all-cars/privat...id=126A81B915FB Van? Before my trooper, I had a tarago. Luxury vanning. just kept getting almost stuck, and rivers started to frustrate me. But it was one owner, overrated and under 2 grand.

Worth looking at. Nice inland car. Seen some mountain mud with those tyres.

Thing about looking for this stuff, you gotta travel. I got mine from Mildura, 700 ks from where I live. Being inland, it had never seen salt water. If your in QLD, all the trucks end up on the beach. So it may prove difficult. Moparman is right, some 4wds are POS, but I've seen some early hj45 diesels that are cheap that are real gems. This is because they are not a luxury mobile, but a Truck. In Victoria and NSW, I'd say you could pretty much drive anything. After that I stick to my original post. TOYOTA. The other thing you see are Suzuki Sierras. They will go anywhere, but dislodging a kidney is a real possibility. On the plus side you could fit a 4k for that 'rolla feeling. :) try this also http://www.exploroz.com/

I have the 2H diesel. The engine choice depends on where you want to go. If your going to hit the desert, some remote places only have diesel. You see petrol at most places along bitumen, but get out the back of NW QLD and beyond and LPG is not very common. If you're going to head into cape york, petrol engines won't do. Anywhere you do a river crossing and the water comes up to the dizzy = fail. I bought a diesel because I never wanted to find out there were places I couldn't go because my car won't cut it. I have 190 litre duel tanks. Depending on load and driving style (not hard 4wding) I can get up to 1400 ks out of two tanks. But when diesel is 1.80 a litre, you can spend the price of a 'rolla at the petrol station. Those 4 cent off, plus another 4 cents discount supermarket servos start paying off over 120 litres. Servicing on a diesel is simpiler as well. A well sorted diesel just needs oil changes. No messing with ignition stuff in the middle of nowhere.

2H = Non turbo Diesel. 2F = Petrol, more power, more fuel.

I drove a HJ75, 2H around Australia. 20,000 ks with no probs. But like all cars they do need maintenance and things can break. And parts aren't exactly cheap. A well sorted one will go forever. And when you get beyond the cities you realise....this is TOYOTA country. A mate working at a 4wd workshop in broome told me about a massive rack for 'cruiser parts, and almost nothing for Patrols. He had a Patrol. The others....You get what you pay for. The bad with the trooper.....IT IS SLOW and the ride can be a little rough. Check http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?showtopic=36858 So I vote for the TOYOTA

All those gaskets are the same I recently fitted a ke70 4k in a Ke50 which had a 3k. I used all 3k gaskets and they fit ok. Note, for the thermostat, it's the large part that bolts to the head.

Don't limit it to the three. Do all the C's Crown, cressida, corona Name? Toyota C wrecking!
