that could be tricky. I've seen similar (not the same) in 80's taragos. It had the silver face. I also think the early hatch type (sv10?) camrys had something like it. I take back the nissan thing. It's time to hunt down early 80s Toyota luxury. Maybe cressida? I was stoked when I saw my '50 came with it's "in dash" tape deck. very 70's though. Boo

They had a big clean up. Last week there was only one *E7* flat front. They were aussie built so I imagine some nissans may have came out with the same cassette. Do you have a close up? Boo

Or use woolworths oil for start up - drop this after half an hour - I use this to clean, just in case. Also, never use rags, the little bits don't break down. Always use paper towel. Penrite running in - I usually give this 500ks Then penrite everyday oil - old cars love old style oils. The other one I favour is Penrite HPR 30. It's old faithful. Then i look around my garage and realise all my cars are running some version of penrite, I think I'm a little one eyed. GTX3 is for multi cam engines. GTX2 is old skool I've found with synthetic if you try and run in on it works so well, it won't allow any wear and the rings never bed! Just my 2 cents Boo

Alright, I've been doing my home work today. If I've fluffed any of this please post and I'll correct. I don't have the specs, but I think I've nailed the part numbers. From what I've seen, the letter will vary but the numbers seem to stay the same. So it could start WP, RWP, QCP. Depends on the brand. Anywayz 757 KE1X 1966-70 Has only heater/bypass pipe coming off the rad outlet pipe 797 KE2X 1970-75 Has only heater/bypass pipe coming off the rad outlet pipe 835 KE3X KE50 1975 to 4/78 Has bypass coming off rad outlet pipe. Has 13mm pipe coming off left of pump for heater hose 859 KE3X KE5X KE7X 4/78 to 83 Has bypass coming off radout let pipe. Has 7mm pipe coming off left of pump 897 XE7X 83- same as 859 but allows use of viscous fan. once I get some more confirmation and specs I'll do as philbey says and chuck it on. I may need help with that philbey. bigger hint, hint boo

Mods, I feel that knowledge Base/FAQ needs a K engine water pump section. From the looks of things this thread may start the rot? It's a great section but I think you all know it needs a little update? I'm happy to give 2 cents. boo

Sorry, I have an I win statement.. Went for my P's on my 18th birthday. the instructors car had 3 bald tyres. had to come back 5 days later. longest 2 weeks of my f@$kin life!

It's a little dark now. I can't rollaclub during the day at work. I'm not working tomorrow so I'm picking this up. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Toyota-COROLLA-3K-3...#ht_3437wt_1137 it's down the road and they allow pick up. I think I'll whip the old one off, take the verniers with and make sure! I thought a water pump would be one of the simpler thinks on a k motor! On a lighter note, the KE50 came with the denso starter. That looks easy at least!
-
I actually used the search function and found this. http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?s...17948&st=15 I'm about to buy a pump for the KE50 with a 3kc, build date 2/77. will a 78 to 83 pump work? I thought all k pumps would be pretty much the same. ebay and the above thread have told me otherwise. there are freakin millions of k engine pumps. Maybe I should pull mine off first to use as a sample! does any one have a list of all the differences?

Little known fact. Tailgate struts in a KE50 are identical to tailgate struts in Mitsubishi Colts and 2nd gen Hyundai excels. Early Hyundai's are just Mitsubishi clones anyway! I just had to cut off a bracket at one end. Oh and spend a couple of hours at centre road wreckers looking at and measuring every car with tailgate struts. Went with the Mitsubishi ones to keep that Japanese feeling. Now I stand erect! Or at least the tailgate does. Also front seat belts are the same as an early KE30 sedan. I can see a lot more mixing and matching parts in my future!

Yeah, carsales. Lets just say I waited a few weeks before going and didn't pay anything near the asking. Bad thing about pick, pay. Never went there but it was on my list of places to visit. Luckily the humpback running gear is exactly the same as my 35 so my brothers car might find a few parts being taken :blinks:
-
My new barn find, the humpback. My brother mentioned a while back he'd be interested in the 'rolla thing. He'd saved up some money, so I said I'd keep my eyes peeled. That's where the trouble began. I was surfing all the usual car sites and I found the fidy. It's a little tired, drives well two owner machine. It's had a g'box rebuild, callipers, starter and alternator done. My brother is now buying my '35 Plans are to employ some of uncle shadies patented crap remover, fix up the little bits of rust, cut and polish, regas the a/c, get it regoed and then start messing with it. I think , maybe lower with my wagon rims widened and whitewalls. I love UGLY!

DO NOT USE BRICKS. They collapse. I don't wanna see you dead when I'm watching the news. If you gotta be dodgy, use tree stumps, you'll never crush them. Go to a firewood place and ask about red gum. Concrete and bricks are fragile. As a test, get a hammer and smash a brick; you'll have a million pieces. Try that on a red gum stump and you'll have a dint, maybe! But as others have said, buy axle stands. I still use the set I bought when I was 18. They have paid themselves off LONG ago. It's a small investment for a lifetime of car rewards!
-
Just a thought. You may have check this already, but the springs on the mechanical advance? If they're shot, they give low down weirdness. Was the dizzy ok in its previous incarnation? Boo
-
Only one! I had a heap living under my rear bar on the KE35. When I took it for a RWC, my mate spyed 'em and brought out the brake kleen. DEAD. They are everywhere. Don't go to the wreckers if you're worried. my best was seeing a huntsman "living" inside the rear drum of a 1 tonner. Wait 'till you see a barn find car where rodents live. cars=creepy crawlies! The cheaper the car, the more hitch-hikers on board. My 'rolla was a freebee, so you can imagine. In my first car, a HD Holden, the dash pad was missing. Had a heap of spiders crawling through the holes as I drove. again, a bag o'concrete be cool E Boo

They are all good ideas. In the interim can we please just make a photo/attachment mandatory. I'm sick of seeing a 4 sale threads with minimal content and no photo. Yeah you can upload anything, but it'll at least make some people make the effort!

part and parcel of playing with cars. eat a bag of concrete & HTFU ;)

Just like marketing a 1.16 3k corolla in a country where everything is big. Australia is the country of 6cyls and 6 seats. Oops, the world changed. Old skool boys talk about jap crap. I had a boss who told me a story of waiting 2 months for a new head on a KE10. Those foreign thangs... Just to qualify, I'm not that old skool. Just wait to to gen z start jdm'ing their Rukus. each to their own. Who cares Who woulda thought fwd would take off. etc etc.

Ke15 And Ke17 Sprinter Production Numbers? Australian Sales?
Bamboo replied to Lowrolla17's topic in Automotive Discussion
Ah, to the gates of Toyota-shi in Nagoya. This is on my list of places to visit on my next trip to the land of the rising sun. When you ask people in Tokyo about hillbillies in Japan the word Nagoya springs up! LOL -
I was flushing the cooling system in my 'cruiser today. When I was refilling the rad I bumped the rad cap..somewhere. For the love of god, I cannot find it. I'll go buy another tomorrow, but it really gives me the shits!! Once when I was an apprentice I managed to "drop" my spark plug socket into the chassis rail of an ea falcon. if that car is still going (most unlikely as it is a ford) my socket is still in there. There was no way to get it out!! So what have you dropped/knocked that made it to a place where no human could possibly put it?

No offence. I understand. It just looked cool
