3. Make sure you specify a price! We want to know how much you want for the item (or how much you want to pay)

5.11.0 DO NOT POST UNLESS you are actually interested in buying what the seller is offering. Posts like "Nice car good luck" are rubbish. Your post may be deleted and you may be warned.

That whole situation would be avoided if people abided by the rules. I'm also a strong believer that Rollaclub should implement a For Sale/Wanted Template to avoid situations like above.

If you ask a stupid question expect a stupid reply... I belive flat outs situation could have been delt with better but i havnt seen the thread. And as time passes a lot of the older member are starting to move on or at least find new areas of interest that don't directly relate to rollas/cars. Which in turn you can figure out how that effects the community.

hey c**ts, f@$k youze.. this place is f@$king friendly and if youse dun like it den ya's can jus f@$k orf......

IE: 98% of the regular posters here are good. I get the shits with some of you, then I get over it.

Spelling is also one of my pet peeves. IT'S NOT THAT f@$kING HARD TO SPELL PROPERLY, OR TO CHECK THAT SPELLING. I'm sorry if this offends.

I also don't post as much as I used to mainly because I usually don't have anything supremely decent to contribute.

Forums are a living, evolving thing that go through cycles.

Peace Out,

Matt :kiwi:

*edit* Roosa, there IS a For Sale template, it's hardly ever used though.

I'm 100% with Redwarf on this one. If people actually read the rules, it clearly states to make sure you check your spelling and don't type in leet. There is no reason why people cannot use proper grammar and correct spelling.

One of the many advantages of using Firefox 2. It has an in-built spelt-checker. Other than that a dictionary is handy (either online or next to the keyboard), so is http://www.google.com.au

We are not standing face to face, so there is no reason why you can't take a few minutes to edit your reply/question.

The "add reply" section has a "preview post" button, which i tend to think some people kind of forget to use when their replying to someone elses quote

Yeah, can pretty well relate to that cause i've always loved the rollas but i've also got a soft spot for commodores and my girlfriend loves her commodores. And now that we've got a family, the seca's getting a little small for us. So we're getting a commo but its up in the air of what i'm doing with the seca - keep it as a second car (project) or ditch it........

I remember starting a thread about that over 12 months ago. As far as i was aware, it went unoticed. I have never seen a template stored on rollaclub so someone can copy and paste it into their For Sale ad. I am positive that if there is one, it is NEVER enforced.

Do you mind pointing me in the direction of the prefered rollaclub template please, as i have never noticed it. If i havent noticed it after all this time, i doubt the newer members would be aware of it. If your just referring to the "Rules", then very few people will actually put that info into use. If sellers have a Template that is clearly labelled and has provisions for the necessary information, they may be more likely to use it if the rules demand it for all new ads.

The template I always use was taken from a Datsun forum and can be found here. CLICK

I feel that the problem is that the new members aren't reading the rules. I must admit that when i sign up to something and it asks if I've read the terms and conditions/rules, i usually tick yes. Maybe if there could be an automatic message sent to new members, after signing up, welcoming them and just giving them a couple hints to make their stay more pleasant.

eg. Welcome to rollaclub, please take the time to read the forum rules when possible. Just a hint, when posting, try not to use SMS talk and try to check you spelling, punctuation and grammar. I'm sure you'll love it here.

Just an idea.

whoah - lots of traffic!

All good, but I suspect a few people may have missed what I was trying to say (perhaps I buried it too deeply!)

I'm not suggesting that any of the behaviour that has set people off is actually acceptable behaviour and that we should tolerate it. I'm suggesting we need to take a quick sanity check of how we respond to the noobs who ruffle our feathers - and I'm definitely not suggesting that people who continually offend should be allowed to do so with a waffling "aww, stop it .. you're not being nice" whinge. When the time's a right, a "for fsck's sake grow a decent moustache and harden up" is what's needed.

When someone stuffs up at work, I tell them so in a polite and constructive manner designed to encourage them to do a better job ... rather than tell them to "fsck off" until they can get it right. I'm not implying that's what's happening here - but I can see hints that it might be heading that way. We're in danger of becoming so intolerant of errant behaviour that, rather than encouraging better behaviour, we run the risk of losing out on potential contributors.

I see a lot of good work being done by the tireless mod's - and I don't see their actions as contributing to the problem ... most (all?) of what I'm talking about has come from the keyboard of others - albeit perhaps in an attempt to help out.

when some boofhead posts without reading the rules - enlighten them with an additional "there are a lot of international contributor's on this noticeboard, please be courteous and follow our rules". The tricky bit comes when they continue to play up and the mod's have to step in and lock threads and ban offenders.

I'm not suggesting that every new poster who splats shite across the page is a potential K expert just waiting for the nurturing love of the rollaclub to encourage them to blossom and reach their full potential :kiwi: - but that everybody deserves a chance to screw up at least once ... and that we let our fingers do the expletive deleted shouting only when someone's had a fair chance to realise the errors of their ways and take corrective action.

So - summary:

  • I'm not suggesting we change any of our rules, or even become more tolerant of people breaking them
  • I am suggesting that we point out transgressions in less beligerent manner

As a side note - if I'm going to say something personal to someone ... I'll usually do it with a PM (and dump a "you've got a PM" in the thread).

now, if you'll excuse me ... I have a weber to put on the 4AC :)
