Both a 4ac and a 4age hae the same type of numbers on the block, its pretty much a head swap.

 

There both 1.6 and both 4a engines, they use the same mounts, little to no modification. It dosent need to be engineeered, its under the 15% law.

In some ways i'd sooner be in the xr6 if comes to having a crash.

WGMG: The way the NSW P plate restrictions are (No, I'm not some uleh wanting to do sik skids in his turbz VL), It's got more to how it rules upon how many cylinders/forced induction instead of power/weight.

For example, I can't run a stock 4ag bigport in my AE86, even though it would still be slower than an ae82 twinky (due to drivetrain loss) which is P-plate legal . Same goes with old V8's I can't drive a HQ with a 253 but i can drive an XR6 which is loads faster, It just doesn't make sense. Ohwell, 11 more months till I get my opens ;)

 

An XR6 is no faster than a bog-stock taxi-spec Falcon these days anyway. And has been said, a modern car is much safer to crash in than an old clunker.

 

The thing to realise is that any system will have flaws, or the great unwashed will find ways to nit-pick and complain that it is an infringement of their rights etc etc. In the long run though, just realise that it's a short term thing, you're on your Ps for 3 years if you play your cards right, and use that time to get your driving down pat regardless of the car you drive, that way setting you up to be a better driver once you get on your open license, irrespective of the car you end up driving/buying.
