In some places it's needed, other's it's not.

 

Near the equator and the poles it's not necessary, but in the middle band it's very useful.

Kinda interesting in some ways cause the mexicans that i've been talking to moved up this way to get away from daylight savings

 

Besides it means there's less night time drunking hours

Funnily enough the Canadians that come down here seem to love it (I work in a company that has an office in Mackay as well, so there are often people going in-between)....

 

True, less night-time drinking hours, but we have curfew here so we all just start earlier. Nothing wrong with drinking whilst it's still daylight, especially if it's the first one after work.

Still light at 8pm up here.

We have more than enough daylight... saving it would just be greedy ;)
