May 28, 201214 yr Author comment_606644 After letting the box sit down on the crossmember it has really made the shifter sit close to the right hand side of the shifter hole. Thanks to some feedback from Tony it looks like I'll be cutting the floor and moving the bolt holes for the rubber boot to solve the problem.. Next trick is a bit of fabrication to mount the rubber mount to the gearbox crossmember.. Report
May 28, 201214 yr Author comment_606646 Also orderd some socket head cap screws to fix the adaptor plate to the head. Once that is done I can get to work on making sure the manifolds line up straight.. going to need a bit of machining on the surfaces where the manifolds bolt down as they are not a flat surface.. May 28, 201214 yr Author comment_606648 Tony said they just cut there one as low as they could and rewelded it, So yeah, custom it is :) Report
August 26, 201214 yr Author comment_623236 Bend it? even when you bend it you need to re-center the shifter hole to line up with the new extension housing position. Report
August 26, 201214 yr Author comment_623238 Finally a few weeks ago managed to machine up the cap head bolts in the lathe at work so i could fit the adapter plate to the head. Report

May 25, 201313 yr Author comment_656906 Recently I have had a change of jobs and a lot of other things life has thrown at me between so I have not had much time and lost motivation to work on the Corolla. But in recent weeks I have found my long lost motivation and am back up at the folks place working on the Corolla once again. Latest Project is to fabricate a new gearbox crossmember for it. Thanks to Chris & Tony I got their old modified rubber gearbox mount and T50 crossmember from their old rally car. I tidied up the welds on the rubber mount a bit where it was extended and gave it a fresh coat of black ready to go in. Alas! when I went to bolt up their T50 crossmember I found the hole spacing is different from Australian to Japanese. (Side to side of the tunnel gearbox mounts) Considering my options I figured it would be better to make my own mount then have to cut the factory T50 crossmember up and weld it all back together. I decided to mock up a template out of some alloy I found at work and then figure out how I am going to brace/reinforce the crossmember. Next is to find some mild steel plate to make it up out of.. May 25, 201313 yr Author comment_656909 I figure I will Brace the sides using the extra holes at the front and angle it back to the centre. Also Angle plate the back of the crossmember for added strength.. Report
June 1, 201313 yr Author comment_657614 During the week I got Geoff at work to weld up some angle for me. managed to drill out all the holes for the back but I didn't realise when I bolted it up in the dark last week how much of an angle it has to the front bolt holes. Looks like I Need to cut the 45 degree welds and angle it out a bit more. Will do that next week at work and tidy it up ready to drill the front bolt holes. Report
