it's only illegal if you get caught. i drove around for two years with a 114db exhaust and an unengineered brake conversion, so i reckon just the bumpers will be right =) ;)
my mate matt actualy had the idea of cutting the bumpers down so they're thin, more to retain a bodyline and a LITTLE bit of a bump, and to save going to the effort of making up a shave panel. that of course does mean i'd have to actually find decent bumpers, and i'm being stingy with this car so maybe, maybe not :(
updates:
matt welded up the hole in the floor last weekend, he did a really good job too! i have a photo somewhere. i bogged underneath so it doesn't rust, cleaned half the interior so it looks a little neater, and put an old passenger seat in that was better than the ripped one in there
here's my to do lists:
*before rego*
change thermostat gasket
scrub front interior clean
repack and tighten front wheel bearings
clean and paint diff cos it leaks oil
put tyres with tread on
find out why the reverse lights don't work
new wiper arm
dial for interior fan control
put an accelerator pedal in
*after rego*
find out why the fuel tank leaks over half full and fix it
stock carb back on with ke25 throttle cable and bracket
adjust steering box
put h4 headlights in
make rear panels out of thick mdf and cover with black vinyl
make front door cards out of masonite or ply, cover with black vinyl
make front speaker spacers out of thick mdf, black vinyl or felt
buy an mp3 head unit and install with amp and speakers
scrub the rear floor clean
get black carpet and make a new panel for the rear floor
work out why the hatch sits so f@$ked up on one side
find another torsion bar for said hatch
if i do anything it do, it will be a full window out, new seal, white respray. tinted 35% front, 5% rear. lowered stupidly on wide 14" steelies with chrome dress rims, with 185/60 firestone tyres. i'll paint the interior black with cans or something, maybe i can make some new floormats up out of rubber sheet. ke70 front brakes, ke55 back brakes
either way, i think i'll drop my old 4k in, probably with a standard cam so i can save fuel. all the headwork and compression should make it go alright anyway
