  1. is 1981 later than 1972? yes, it is so you don't need the additive stuff :D
  2. just make up some brackets and bolt them to the original bumper bar spots on the rails. should be easy to do with a strap of metal
  3. new cars = boring they all look the same
  4. nissa. good cheap engines, crap cars toyota, expensive good engines, good cars it's like a match made in "i can't afford a 3sgte" heaven :D
  5. i think you should let jon barr from japanese restorer magazine know about it, and stick to corollas that you can actually find parts for
  6. because he is a moron
  7. haha, i've done that too. gearbox knee smackdown
  8. they're around, i believe they came from some asian country where it's law that cars have to have 4 doors. same place the 4 door ke10s come from
  9. being a manufacturer snob is pretty boring. i used to be one, but not any more. i mean sure, the 3SGTE totally shits all over the SR20DET, but it's also like double the price for a decent engine. datsun actually make some pretty cool stuff, just a pity about the gay cars they put them in
  10. with any aftermarket tacho, there are usually 4 wires 12v Positive. you hook this up to an ignition-switched power source, such as the part of the stereo that comes on when you switch the key on 12v Negative. you earth this to the other part of the above power source, or just to any bare metal place on the firewall or dash 12v Lights. this goes to a psotive power source that comes on when you turn the headlights on. the little dash light is a good place to steal this power from Signal. hook this up to the negative side of the ignition coil. yes, the one in the engine bay. you'll need a big long wire. some tachos say to hook up to the positive of the ignition coil, i've never really found any difference, except that would probably stealing some of your ignition voltage (this is bad) wheras it wouldn't on the negative side colors vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. i've seen red, black, white, yellow, green, purple and orange tacho wires. that's more than 4 colors (out of 4 possible things it could be) so if you're unsure of what's what, contact whoever makes your tacho (look on google or in the phone book) and ask them, we more than likely won't know
  11. yeah, no such thing as a 4 door ke25. anywhere as far as i know
  12. i also agree with ca18. i don't know about torque and whatever, they both make the same power naturally aspirated, so i assume they're both of similar potential, but you don't have to ass about converting a 4ag to rwd, and they're cheap enough. lots of drifters are using 4ags as well, so they're only going to get more expensive to find good ones and good bits for i think of a ca as the "already rwd" 4ag
  13. you guys go nuts any time someone with a vagina comes even close to this forum
  14. muuuuch better :ban: told you it'd be alright :ban:
  15. 5k has piston dish, 4k head (from flat-top piston motor) has larger combustion chamber than 5k. you'll decompress the motor, probably about 8:1, i could work it out fairly accurately if you're really keen on the idea if you're using a 4k head from a dished piston motor, then you'll probably raise the compression. you'd need to get all the parts together and CC the engine yourself to see
  16. no, helene and matti's page is here http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Pit/9975/tm_index.html
  17. 99 will be devastated all the famous people i know are dying, that makes me feel old :ban:
  18. YAY!!! :ban:
  19. probably impossible unless you engineer your car as an Independantly Constructed Vehicle, so be prepared to spend $10-$15k on the testing and certification alone, PLUS the price of the conversion and all relevant upgrades (exhaust, fmic, brakes, diff, tailshaft, etc) for that price, why bother? you'd just buy a turbo FC RX7 and have something with brakes and handling and lsd stock
  20. that pic with fook and haikal, that's awesome. GO NINJA TEAM!
  21. you'll also find that fitting tyres larger than 185 to a corolla is counterproductive to wet weather handling. they're only light, so you give them a big footprint and they have a tendancy to aquaplane alot more on a little 10, you could even get away with 165 cheesecutters, especially if you're leaving the rest of the car stock with venetians and whatever. gives it a nice "grandpa's old stocker" sort of look the correct sizes for ke10 speedo accuracy are 185/60/13 and 165/70/13 (good point about 5.5" wheels too, i didn't even think of that)
  22. probably 185s on the front, maybe 205s if the wheels are the right offset, but i doubt it on a ke1x, there's not much room there there's usually a bit of room under the back, i'd expect 205 or 225s if the wheels are a good offset. you can also space the leaves in 5-10mm for a bit more space
  23. ke36 minus dirt :ban: i'll get some when i have it to take photos of lol been thinking of shaving the bumpers. i like the look on the front, i reckon i might be able to pull it off on the back, see how we go
  24. gay pride ninja :ban: would kick your ass but doesn't want to break a nail :ban:
  25. oh yeah, update time :ban: washed it on saturday, gave the interior a wipe down, it's nice not to have such a dusty car. chucked the battery in and it ticked over first go. it sounds phat with no exhaust haha :ban: the exhaust was dodgy as f@$k, rubbing on the tailshaft, etc. trailered it down to ballina sunday to get the exhaust fixed up. got the extractors flanged at the firewall (FINALLY an engine bay that's easy to get engines in and out of) and a muffler and the rest of it hung well. haven't seen the work yet tho, but it will be awesome free plug for ballina brake exhaust and clutch :ban: 02 6686 5505 (on a side note, i may be driving their T18 racecar at warwick next monday) need to get it home, give it some stopping power (bleed, fluid cap), get the hole in the floor fixed - matt's home after the 1st, or i could pay to have it done asap - and go for a roadworthy, then fix up whatever it fails on :ban:
