  1. Yes it is as the performance handling is different, My mate has one in his T-18 road/race car and he can dump it at 7000rpm and it will grab and wheel spin, There is no slip what so ever. Have you ever driven a car with a button clutch and tried to ride the clutch to stop the car from rolling backwards on a hill? What i was saying is there is no clutch between engaged and disengaged, As soon as you let the clutch out slowly it will try to stall, Its a bit of a pain in the ass in traffic but you get used to it.
  2. The gearbox has turned out a real treat, Everything is that nice and tight that even the synchros feel better so its now ready to go in the car, I took the manifolds off the engine and realised that its covered in alot of oil so I'm going to finish it tomorrow as i will put new cam and crank seals in it along with a new timing belt, The plan is to have it in the back of the ute tomorrow arvo ready to come back home and be put in, Some pics:
  3. The clutch that slim has and any other button clutch there is 2 clutch levels ENGAGED or DISENGAGED, The exedy's are made of a different material than your average pbr aswell.
  4. Ha Des, Now you know how all them people felt when you had the corona.
  5. Bout damn time indeed, Looks like it will be back in the carport up on the stands next weekend for some coils :hmm: Did they make a template of the camber tops cause remember the AE82 camber top is non existent.
  6. The beamers weigh in fairly heavy have ABS and bigger brakes, They stop great.
  7. The ride to work sucks in the morning but the afternoon roll down the hill is good, Couldnt really be bothered driving as by the time the oil gets lubricating i would be at work, HA.
  8. Just another quick update, Pulled the engine and numerous parts needed for the engine install into the carport so its ready for the long 2km drive to work in the morning:
  9. My daddy has a beamer and he only bought it cause his mate upgraded to a newer model, i had it for a few days this week and the people that sit on your ass or block you on merges onto the highway shit you off, Its a very nice car to drive but i hate the rich snob term that comes with them.
  10. Oh yeah no more input shaft play in the gearbox, It will be fully assembled tomorrow and the motor is going to work tomorrow for sure.
  11. New bearings came today but i only pressed one bearing onto the shaft in my lunch hour, Tomorrow the box should be complete again.
  12. The myth that toyota did a semi forged piston is none other than a myth, All 4agze pistons are made of the same composite and are all indeed forged and the 4agze pistons have ceramic coated tops.
  13. I thought i made it clear in the post i did with the pics that the 1st pic was the quick clean and i just went with all aluminium. Next on the list is to take the engine to work and modify the cooling pipes and give it a general clean up, Hopefully i will kit the carbies next week.
  14. There is no legal issues, You only need to mod it when going from manual to auto, I dunno how that works tho.
  15. Glass polishing bead, Our blaster is water and air but i painted the box with aluminium paint to give a better shine. As above.
  16. *Waits for someone to say that you have a small hand* Can you let me know where to get one since you won't sell.
  17. Todays lunchtime efforts turned out good, I did a quick blast just to take all the crap off, Bearings are ordered and are on the way, Some pics... Well it has a bit more bling than what i thought it woulda, I was gonna do the gear housing black to break it up a bit but the aluminium will do fine: And finally i got this in the mail today: Will be replacing the thick gaskets with some softmounts.
  18. Ha, Damn i wish i could go but i have family commitments.
  19. I would not have a clue.
  20. Well atleast you havent done a Des and sold up
  21. I didnt end up taking the motor to work today so i just took the box up, Found out that the play was due to a worn input shaft bearing so i pulled it apart and now I'm going to do all the bearings, Pics: All external parts stripped off: The gunk that was inside: Gearsets: The case in the washing machine: Tomorrow i will order the bearings and clean up the housing so it looks like new (i think), Just gotta measure number 2 & 3 synchro to make sure they are fine.
  22. Seca = liftback, They do look a bit like the 86. Mybowlcut: Post pics of your sister.
  23. He wants DOHC struts in his single cam, Here are a few reference pics for bolt sizing: Struts, SC on left, TC on right. In this pic you can see the size difference between the hub and the strut. And finally the bolt size difference that bolts the hub assembley on, TC on top.
  24. You wanna sell it?
  25. No worries man, There is that many variations over the GE/GZE tange that it is fairly hard to remember.
