It has the A40D (3sp auto), was going down this route once before with my ae71 with a 4agte, found out that they aren't a trimatic but can be built to withstand power, I was going for a stall and a shift kit.
Mr's 82 seca is a bigport auto (conversion into csx), although it isn't a fighter jet off the line it does get up an go pretty well and does 100k's in 1st which gives you a bit of pulling power next to those commo's or wrex's, give it a little bit more off the line torque and it will scream.
Give this number a call 31629672 and let him (Eric) know then, I am sure that the info you have supplied will be a great help since nearly every engine we rebuild has been because of over heating and not one head has been warped and not one has come back with a blown head gasket.
Only need to skim the head if it is warped, best thing to do is to scrape the gasket and then hit the surface with a scotch brite wizzer pad to clean the rest of the surface and then measure it.
4ace efi is a bit hard to find, best to source it from NZ, anything else is just a waste of time IMO (Ford TBI etc) and you would be best off with a full engine conversion.
This and a bike tie down wrapped around a support beam, I helped camerondownunder88 pull his out this way, I lifted the motor while he took the slack out of the tie down, repeat the process till it is high enough.
