If you're looking for the best method, replace metal with metal, not fibreglass. And no, you don't have to strip the paint to put new paint on. You can just rub it down, prime and paint. Lots of people seem to be under the impression that "strip and paint" is the only way to do it, it isn't, and there are very rarely any advantages of doing it that way. In fact, there are many disadvantages, among them that there is a lot more preperation involved.

But why? Drive all the way out there, you might as well compete! Even if not to win, just for experience. Last year we had a girl and a guy who were both learning to drive too (and so not the best in clutch control), but they still had a blast, the girl's fairly regular and she's actually quite good now.

My dad keeps asking me about them because apparently you're meant to paint planes with them, and I keep telling him I don't know anything about them (but he keeps asking me everytime he sees me anyway).
