Eoo (Expressions Of Opinion) Fastest Ke20 Engine Conversion?
towe001 replied to crunk81us's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
Nissan Pulsar SR20DET half cut Starting bid $1599 And to think i almost bought a rearended swift gti for 900 bucks -
How does it sound when its turning over ? Does it make the sound of wanting to start or just a fast wind over My first guess would be overfuelling - with the sound of wanting or trying to start. My next guess would be ignition - just the fast wind over I'd hesitate in saying the timing is pretty ok, yeah ? Whats the dwell (or points gap) like ? Should be ok with how your saying its starting. Could be weak spark from the coil. When it happens again in the morning, pull the plugs out and see if their either wet or have a dry look about them. Just be careful in pulling the plugs cause of where they are in the head and with them going through the oil gallery. A wet look is ok but not soaking wet, that'll be overfuelling. heh or no spark (or poor spark). Dry is no fuel.

Yeah it was pretty tidy and also lucky it didn't get wiped out. http://youtu.be/cFXCqoMEV1c Around the 3:50 mark Tried making up a play list but for some reason youtube starts the list at vid No.10 (as we're pulling into Kilcoy)

KEEN Or is that showing too much keenness.

Yep it was a good day, apart from the foolish overtaking move.

Photos from the start From the front to the back Nerfbat - Zowie Stenzel - Dave Purple Rose - Amber Ke30nut - Johno Would have liked my old '30 to be running a similar motor. My god, wow's closing.... :P I'll see about posting some video up on youtube when i can.
-
KE3x Judging by the back seat in the front it'd be either a '30 or a '35 But going by my inability to read tea leaves it'd be a ke30 sedan. But the late ke55 wiper stork is a little off putting. :) :P

When you get the extractors fitted make sure they also fit in a flange between the extractors and exhaust. Otherwise you'll live in regret if you ever have to pull the motor out.
-
Damn, Thats a real bugger

Time for an update Des. How'd you go fitting the trimatic ?

Suzuki G13b twin cam (swift gti) or G16a / b (vitara / baleno) or M15a vvt twin cam (swift / apv) The gearbox from the serria can be used on the g13 and g16. M15a use the box from the apv. But the ratios in the boxes are the same and their pretty crappy for speed. It'd be better getting a custom bellhousing and using the t50 box. Corona front struts. Nothing wrong with the cart spring suspension just some research on making them work or if you feel the need to throw money at the back end then a 5-link (i wouldn't even bother with IRS) -
Last i looked Anzac wreckers had only rollas with autos, but that was a while back and they kept changing on their ideas of the rollas.

Ok cool i'll be over bit after.

How To Fix Your Abysmal Headlights
towe001 replied to altezzaclub's topic in KE70 Technical Articles
I had a brief search for a male h4 plug on the net when i did the lights on my old '30 and couldn't find anything. Had the thought of just cutting the plug off and either using spade connections or soldering the wires, but didn't like the idea of it. -
We'll be going out the show for a while today. I'll be able to drop over after you finish work today and help with swapping the box over today and tomorrow if you want. Kitted trimatic ?? :P

How To Fix Your Abysmal Headlights
towe001 replied to altezzaclub's topic in KE70 Technical Articles
Yeah i know the reason behind using a fuse but when the lights blow at the wrong time you'll be left thinking "where the hell am i ?" If your just the typical driver that wouldn't bother with upgrading the lights, then stick with the fuse. Because with the auto reset breaker you'd be inclined to just leave them alone since they keep resetting, so why bother. -

On the circuit i'd make two changes The fuses i'd swap for auto reset circuit breakers. Like these ones on ebay - http://www.ebay.com....984.m1423.l2649 Proper H4 plugs. Ebay again - http://www.ebay.com....984.m1423.l2649 The circuit breakers are safer to use at night. If they blow, they'll reset and go through the cycle again till you switch the circuit off. If the fuse blows thats it, you'll have to drive by braille. The H4 plugs would mean your not trying to reuse the old ones or if your using the spade connections and a light blows your not trying to figure out what plug goes where. Don't worry Al, i remember you doing this write-up ages ago back on the late ke70.com. It'd just be an update on new techniques. -
Don't be sorry about the long post. The longer the post about the symptoms, what you've done and anything else you can think of goes a long way in what help we're able to give. Some have just posted a comment of "My car doesn't work, why ?" and then they wonder why they get flipped off. Now getting down to it, i think you've got at least one short circuit somewhere. That sounds like there's a short to ground in itself. Or the relay isn't working. Sounds like a bad connection. A build up of corrosion between the connections can cause a restriction (resistive) in what voltage and amps the lights see. If you can get your hands on another combination switch, i'd give that a go and see what happens, cause it does sound like its the combo switch. Other then that it'd be pulling out the circuit diagram, tracing wires with a circuit tester and going over the wires for any burnt wires and/or connectors. My thoughts would be if its not the combo switch, it'd somewhere between the combo switch and the fuse box at the dash.

Hi steve, welcome to the forum. If you don't have much luck at the wreckers for the parts hit a guy up by the username of Nerfbat on the furum, he's got the same model and colour that he might strip some parts from for ya. Just let him know that i told ya about the car.

Yeah it was a real damn shame that we couldn't stop it from slipping. But at least its not as bad. Fingers crossed its just the band that need to be tightened. If you can't get in to see Gilroy's give me a shout and i'll come over on saturday with jack stands, jack, tools in hand this time round and we'll get it sorted :)
