I'd say fit the rocker train first, should be able to move a rocker to the side and slide in a 4k push rod to check its length. The a12 push rods are longer which are better for a head swap.

There's been more then once i've woken up to find that i'm still under the car :lol: How the heck did i manage that :blinks: What i meant was that its possible on uneven ground but it'll depend on how uneven, or level, the ground is to just how stable the car will be up on the stands. If you don't mind having to leave the wheels on and big objects in the road, ramps are another option for excellent stability. Ramps under the front wheels and stands under the back axle. Or vice verse. The only thing is you don't have the high lift the stands can give. Those stands of yours are the better ones. If your going to use them on dirt or something not concrete/cement etc then drop into a hardware shop for some 12mm (minimum) thick plywood thats cut to a bigger size then the stands.

Like Andy said "Just do it" Just make sure you give the car a good rocking before crawling under for a sleep :P Now for the buts, The idea of uneven ground can be a good but on just how stable the car will be when its lifted high enough for you to fit under the car to have a comfortable sleep, oops, swing a spanner etc. And another but Car stands (jack stands) comes in at least two versions No. 1 I have four of these, their ok but they only have that base of a stand welded at the bottom. I've had a pair flexing that gave me the impression of the welds breaking. They do the job but its it No. 2 My father-inlaw has a similar pair. A lot more stable. But they don't have a solid flat surface like the first type so they'll need something to sit on if the ground is soft. The last but. Regardless of using a pair or four stands raise the car up in stages to keep some form of balance.

Heh, Hurst and Brunner. My little brother went there a few good years back and the service he got was really excellent, i've been there myself to get a head skimmed a couple of years back, excellent service. Went there last year to get the flywheel machined and asked about getting a kilo taken off. Wouldn't do it cause of being cast iron. Anyway i dropped it off that friday and gave them over a week to do it so i could pick it up next friday. Yep, not done they'll have it done by monday. Turned up monday arvo to find it still sitting in the same place, i could have just picked it up and walked off. The only good thing that happened was the flywheel was machined free of charge then and there. Coming along very nicely. Almost makes me want to do some more to mine.

Any chance on a bit more info on that, like part numbers etc, so that i'll be able to add it to the wiki and update it a little.

Heh looks like a real hack job on the shifter hole to fit the ke70 box.

GM's 4L30-E basically its a four speed version of the trimatic (aka TH180/3L30) It has a split bellhousing like the trimatic but unlike the trimatic that was found behind a few four bangers it only, from what i could figure out, came behind sixes. BMW's 3 series, 5 series, Z3 Holden VR/S Isuzu/Holden Rodeo/Trooper I'm not driving my thing anymore so I dropped the ball on the idea You might be able to swap the bellhousings over between the 4L30 and trimatic. But the 4L30 was built for a six (or at least from what i could figure out) so you might find it a real slug behind a four.

Use a clutch kit for a 4k from either a ke55 or ke70, 4 speed and 5 speed are the same.

The flywheel will be either a 3k or 4k. My thoughts, don't even bother with the exedy and go for the clutch industries brand R47N. The clutch plate i got to replace the exedy one is a hell of a lot better, same price. Bursons where i got it from.

Battery would be something around the 350cca Lag ? Like it winds over a bit before starting, like wore wore wore and then it fires ? Thats more like the dwell is out and/or the ignition timing. If it has more of a sluggish sound or slow as it winds over, it could either be the battery getting old or the cabling from the battery to the starter getting old. Another thing to try is pulling the terminals off the battery and cleaning them with hot water and sand paper, and do the same thing (but just with the sand paper) on the connections on the starter and ground. Its cheap and free if you have the sand paper laying around.
