  1. Yep. When it comes to welding the car panels go for gas and something like a 0.8mm wire. You'll also need the tips to suit the wire size. But all in all i'd attack the area with a wire wheel first to see really how bad it is.
  2. "Lifes like a burnt steak. Its tough and the chips are always stacked against you." - Quoted from a chef i use to work with. "He's so dense light bends around him." "The two most common elements in the universe are hydrogen and stupidity." "I hold adult courses for people that can't leave their homes. If they turn up, i tell them that they can go home now cause their cured." "Chief Assistant Junior Auxiliary Mushroom reporting for duty."
  3. Top Gear challenge No.2 - Do not tell her till the day your leaving and use the words "I have to make a run for the border and i don't know when i'll be coming back." And for extra points - See how much of the missus's undies and bra's you sneak into the car on the day. Point scoring to be determined on the day.
  4. Can't go wrong with a mig. There is a few things it can't do but its a good rounder for the car and general home work. See about a mig that can do both gas and gasless. Arc welder is ok, but its better for heavy work, like thick steel and welding general crap together out the backside of burke. If you look into the higher priced arc welders you'll also be able to do.... Tig is more of a specialized welder for making beautiful looking welds on exhaust pipe, suspension parts etc. Go for a gas/gasless mig. The gas mig is by far the easiest to learn, but the bottles can get expensive and there's times when using a shielding gas is pointless (outside springs to mind) you can But, it can be expensive. Need a gas bottle (Argon ?), wire that can weld aluminum and a welder that can turn the voltage down.
  5. My thought is that if it looks like the rust has chewed through the metal i'd be pulling the door off and hitting the area with a wire wheel for a better look at the damage and go from there.
  6. I think the next question would be - is it an electric or mechanical gauge ? But my guess would be that being cheap it'll be mechanical. All you have to do is take out the sensor unit for oil gauge (near the filter) and run a line from that to the gauge. No need to worry about electrical wires, unless you want the gauge light to work. The only thing you have to be worried about is making sure the oil line does not get a kink in it or being in a place that makes it flex. The typical plastic pipe stuff that comes with the gauge is relatively ok for the flexing but just like the copper line that can be bought, it doesn't like to be kinked.
  7. Couldn't agree more :jamie: <2.1.3 eclair made this post possible>
  8. I once had a guy ask me whats it like driving a car thats older then me. He got a shock when i told him that i was older then the car.
  9. But it got past on a technically - Guinness World Records and VicRoads wanted it in. Have the write-ups of the build in Budget Buildups.
  10. Thats cool i've got the room for it here. :jamie: Just have to make sure Amber doesn't know :ninja:
  11. Going by the T-18 struts i fitted into my thing i'd say about 1/2inch to a one inch lift.
  12. Cool
  13. I know what your after. Its the circuit diagram of the ECU and its sensors etc. The manual i have doesn't have it as such, but it does cover the pinouts on the ECU and the sensors. Its the full workshop manual for the 7k, its about 52meg in size. Can see about emailing it to you if you want it.
  14. Don't have the chance at the moment but i'll see what the one i have is any good in that way
  15. Got mine from Bursons - $50 including freight. http://clutchindustries.com.au// Clutch plate part # R7098W Went to Autobarn first off for the plate since the complete unit is Exedy. Got the part number and the price of $50 before freight, but the guy found out Exedy don't do replacement clutch plates.... I'd go the CI over the Exedy. So much firmer under the foot.
  16. :hmm: interesting Just had a look at the pdf i have and there's no mention of a ecu for a auto. If you come across one would you be able to throw a copy my way and i'll see about throwing it up on the FAQ
  17. Oi, i want to get a refund on the halogen lamp, car battery and trickle charger. Since i found out the stuff didn't suit the propose, the crap you sold me killed my gold fish, i want a refund. No i do not have the receipt cause i used it to cook up a serve of chips.
  18. Should move to Noosa. When i was living there, the rarest sports/supercar was a choice of either the TVR Griffith or the TVR Tuscan. Lamborghini's and Ferraris next on the list. Sitting in me car one day having a good laugh cause some try hard couldn't get his dodge viper into first.
  19. Phucking kids. Mornings like this i wish they were only breed for a food source
  20. Found the sucker http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/34863-raisinglifting-an-ae95-wagon/ Some times you just have to use google to find something.
  21. Been having a hunt for it as well and i'll be stuffed if i can find it. Cause i made a few posts about the car and what was done.
  22. Dude, Use the search button cause its been done.
  23. Dude, I feel your pain. 30 minutes of stock take by using code/item numbers for items that have different codes (eg one of them was for 8mm x 100M sisal rope. Code number was Natural 9x110) would feel like a month had gone past without sleep. Can do a persons head in that shut.
  24. Nar, this one looks better
  25. I'd say your best bet would be getting both cars (AE82 and AE95) up on a hoist and start snapping away with photos, measurements and notes. The differences between the nissans. Wheelbase and track (front and rear) are the same between the models. I think there was someone on the old Toymods forum who was planning on doing it to his ae92 or it might have been the ae82
