  1. Don't worry about it, I'm used to people not quite getting the point of my posts at times......the internet is a crappy medium for displaying emphasis, sarcasm etc, plus I don't use emoticons
  2. It was a joke, ok? Not serious. In jest. Besides, I've only actually seen one other KE with Supra mags on it (yours are Soarer rims, slightly different), and it was a KE70. Obviously I haven't seen every KE in the country, but mine is the only KE55 that I know of with them.
  3. Why bother tapping the firewall? Just remove the plastic cover over the firewall plenum and chuck nuts on the bolts, thats what I did. Sure, it means you have to take the cover off again if you want to remove the strut brace, but if thats too much of a hassle and you're any good with a welder just tack-weld the nuts to the back of the firewall, saves having to tap a hole and there is more shear strength in the bolt that way (you've got the extra length of the nut assisting you there)
  4. 8.5/10 for the staircase, looks really creepy at first, the mesh looks like a web and the light fitting a spider or something.... Took it this arvo when I was doing a photoshoot for my car, C130 Herc decided to do a rather low fly-by over Fort Scratchley and the CBD, if I could have got the camera out about 15 seconds earlier I would have got a really good shot of it doing a fly-by over the mouth of the harbour and Nobbys
  5. Thats where the second worst bit is in the KE55, hole is about the size of a Malteser but the rust patch is much much bigger. Worst part is in the rear passenger door sill, looking to get a quote for getting both of them fixed up in the near future
  6. I'd give it an 8.5, pretty good for a "primitive" digi, like how the lower half is completely in darkness/sillhouette Taken today on the way home from taking some photos of my car at Nobbys, just pulled into the carpark and stuck the camera out the window....Bar Beach looking south towards Merewether Beach, home of surfing legends
  7. for the KE55: No rust New paint (keeping the current Australia Post Red though) slightly less illegal, but still nice and noisy exhaust Sandblasted and cleaned MA61 mags tailights which are the same level of fadedness Interior that doesn't leak water, or rattle Headunit that is actually attached to the dash in some way, and in a nice neat hole All speakers working Black door trims with re-trimmed red vinyl seats Thick wooden steering wheel Handbrake that works properly Tacho Fuel gauge that works properly Speedo needle that doesn't jump around when cold and, as the ace up my sleeve KA24DE(T), for originality and a shed-load of torque for the AE102 Low-beam lights that actually do a good job of illuminating the road Halo-rings that actually light up Exhaust heat shields that don't resonate at 3000rpm what Suspension Exhaust Momo Millenium Evo wheel seats that actually support me in corners and finally 7AGE 20V
  8. There's nothing wrong with Cressidas themselves, the problem is inherent to all 7Ms that haven't been worked. Toyota incorrectly torqued the head bolts from factory, so the head gaskets were doomed to fail at some stage. Clean up the head, whack a new gasket on, torque it up correctly and re-torque when necessary, and they're a quite reliable motor.
  9. If it bothers you, I'll gladly swap a KE55 for the Corona. It may have some pretty bad rust in the roof, dash thats been hacked up for a head unit, and stuffed fuel gauge, but hey at least it's a rolla right? Seriously, no-one cares. You've got a nice Toyota, and you're not a tool, so I'd say you're more than welcome.
  10. The only noise we could hear from the left rear was the clicking/clunking one, which was narrowed down to a loose wheel nut (fixed by me, very hard job....:lolcry:). However, after taking the wheel off to have a look under the rear end for some possibly loose suspension mounts (just in case they were the cause), I forgot to fully tighten up the wheel nuts again (all of them), and they slowly worked loose. Tightened them all up, and the noise went away completely.
  11. From what I can remember, the Sprinters share basically no body panels to the ADM AE101 and 102s, and I doubt Levin ones would fit either.......if you're extremely lucky you'll find one at a wrecker (they were sold here, just not in huge numbers), but apart from that you could be in trouble
  12. So it was a better game than when we kicked your ass 4-0 2 weeks ago then? :P Been following the Jets all season, only been to two games though (the last two: the aforementioned thrashing of Melbourne, and the home leg of the elimination final against Sydney, which we also won). Won't be able to make the grand final playoff game against Adelaide though, nor the grand final, but I really think we're in with a chance of taking the whole thing (and Victory haven't played well against the Jets all season)
  13. Look around for people selling half-cut parts from an AE111 Levin or Trueno, they had strut-braces standard and they should bolt straight in (with a couple of holes on the firewall). It's also possible that AE101 ones fit too, as the engine bay of the 112 is pretty similar to the ADM AE102, and the AE101 strut brace fits perfectly in my 102
  14. It _isn't_ a Lexus IS200, it's a Toyota Altezza. Although effectively a rebadge, the engines are quite different. IS200 = 1GFE 2.0L inline six, bit of a dog. Altezza/RS200 = 3SGE Beams 2.0L inline 4, screamer
  15. Same, nothing but straight-through pipe from headers to cannon at the back, no resonator or hotdog or first muffler. Revs too high on the freeway for it to be considered drony
  16. Looks very much like an AE101/102 wagon with a RWD conversion (we never got the wagon here)
  17. Well, considering I have a laptop, I'm not about to start posting up pictures of my lap and groin.......although they are usually pretty tidy
  18. If you were a cop, and you pulled over a car with unengineered 20" wheels, and you looked up the history of the car and saw it was given a defect notice for 20" wheels 2 months ago, doesn't matter if that defect had been cleared or not you are obviously re-offending, which in my books would count as breaching the defect. Of course you can get them engineered, but that costs money (unless someone at your tyre shop just so happens to be a certified engineer, it's not something normal mechanics do), and it'll still make your car a cop magnet, bringing to attention anything else in the car thats illegal.
  19. Perhaps I wasn't quite clear enough. Obviously a defect is just a notice to tell you to go and get something repaired or fixed, but in your case the 20s can't be "fixed" unless you just take them off. The RTA clearly states on its website that driving a vehicle that breaches a defect notice carry a fine as well as the loss of 1 or 3 demerit points. If the cops pull you over and you've been defected before, they'll check to see if the defects have been removed. If you're still driving around on 20" wheels, obviously the defect hasn't been removed, and you'd be screwed. Offence Fine Points Double demerits? Law DEFECT NOTICES/LABELS Use vehicle in breach of minor defect notice $231 1 RT (VR) Reg 1998 Cl 84(2) DEFECT NOTICES/LABELS Use vehicle in breach of major defect notice $308 3 RT (VR) Reg 1998 Cl 84(2)
  20. You better not live in NSW then, as even a minor defect is $231 and 1 point. A major defect (no idea what those wheels would qualify as though, but they're definitely defectable) is $308 and 3 points. 3 points is all you get on your red Ps, so heres hoping they don't find something else wrong with the car that they can canary. Gone are the days of simple fines for defects, it hurts your license now. Basically, 2 or 3 defectable things on your car and it's bye-bye license, and a good wad of cash
  21. I can't quite get past the fact that someone who doesn't want a turbo engine because they are "restricted" (nothing wrong with that, nice and law abiding) but is more than happy to go around on blatantly illegal and defectable rims.... I'd love to see how much width and rolling diameter have changed from factory ones, also whether spacers are used too. Nothing wrong with 20" wheels on the right car, especially if they are engineered to be legal too, but seriously dude why bother breaking one law but abiding by another?
  22. mmmmm, BEAMS......they're ridiculously expensive though, and most of the ones that make it over here tend to end up in Clubmans (because if you're building a car from scratch you can probably afford a gun engine) and track cars.
  23. Isn't U supposed to be Japanese emissions? Or did they change it somewhere along the line.....
  24. Only a Capri? Pfft, I would have taken that in a heartbeat if it was in decent nick (and affordable). Much prefer one to a KE35, and the thoughts of putting a windsor or cleveland in it make me weak at the knees. Or doing it up neat and stock and touring the classic car scene
