Yep. Except on the ke1x series (pre-pollution, pre-ADR's) whose crankcase ventilation system consists of a simple dump pipe which directs any crankcase pressure/fumes down to beside the gearbox. :jamie:

Not good man. :jamie: The main thing is you're OK'ish. Cars are replaceable. Best of luck with the next build.... get a rollcage for it. In the second pic, the rear has a remarkable resemblance to a mazda R100.

I like red cars. Pity the paint fades/goes chalky faster than most other colours. White is the best for longevity, hides imperfections and stays cleaner looking for longer. Not the coolest looking colour though.

I never realised that towe. Didn't end up washing it yesterday, but did it today. WGMG: Washing my car under the shade of trees, I've washed the top of it and am finishing up doing the lower sections... Look at the roof and it has two fresh bird turds on it. Grrr! Fortunately being fresh, they hose straight off. Chamois the f@$ker quick and go lock it in the shed.
-
Pity. If you were in QLD I'd be extremely interested. How'd you go selling your 530i? That'd be a nice family car.

My drive car is Diamond Shwartz, basically black with a silver metallic (changes from black to a gunmetal grey). You wash it and chamois it, park it in the garage, close the doors, come back the next day and there is dust all over it. A white car, you can just hose it off and it looks respectable. A dark car, you have to chamois it off otherwise it looks crap from all the watermarks. Recon I've washed the thing more in the last 8 months than I washed my white ke15 in 8 years.

Same. WGMG: Black cars. While they look good, f@$k they get filthy quick. Going out to wash it yet again. White is so much cleaner looking for longer... Pity it doesn't look as slick.

3 kids... check Debt..... Zero. Pre-saved cash for everything except the near future purchase of a house. House.... In the market atm. Cars... Paid cash for the E32. Looking at spending another couple of G's on it to get where I want it. Suspension next, 1 grand on tyres. Turbo and manual conversion later down the track (missus rolls eyes). KE15 can wait til later for paint/rebuild, hopefully get it up and running and back on the road again in the next couple of weeks holidays. Moderators pay.... We only do it for the love of our cars and the community. Kia people mover.... WTF anyone would buy a Kia is beyond me, especially a new one. SFA resale value. You'd be better off buying a boring 10 yo commodore wagon and pissing the difference up against the wall. 7shades... I bags the copyright on T-shirts. A rustfree 6cyl E21 would make an awesome playtoy. If I found a decent one at a good price locally I'd snap it up in a flash.

I think that is the shadiest thing I've read in this thread. Remind me to never buy a car off of you.

The 4k in my brothers old ke30 had a burnt exhaust valve and seat, and wanted me to fix it. He didn't have much cash at the time so I did it on the cheap. Basically I grabbed a valve from an old head and ground it in with the help of a drill (on the stem) and a heap of coarse grinding paste. Needless to say the valve seat had a nice curve in it. A cheap Vrs kit and she was back on the road for under $50 and a few hours work. Ran great for a couple of years until he got rid of it. He didn't change the oil in the 4 years or so he owned it. Think he bought a set of tyres and front brake pads for it, but didn't spend another cent except for fuel and a bit of oil to top it up from time to time. He's a shocker and has always run his cars into the ground.
-
7shades, you crack me up dude. Just watch you don't spit a winner in the meantime. I'd be happy with a manual and turbo conversion on my E32. Looking into Bilsteins atm. The E34 based B10's with 12psi into an old SOHC 3.5L M30 made 360HP (440HP with a chip change). 0-100 in 5.2 secs. 13.2 sec quarter and 290+ km/h top speed. Quicker than the ferrari's of their time. The later cars, although having awesome performance, just don't look as cool. Plus all the electronic driver aids remove the driver from the driving experience.

Dickhead tryhards in shopping center carparks. Saw a couple of wankers today trying to get peoples attention by revving out their cars in a carpark. Firstly some dick in a FWD corolla with an exhaust that sounded like a wet fart, and also a nice looking early celica. Doing 60 kays in a shopping center carpark is stupid. I was hoping someone in a big 4by would pull out of a park and mangle the idiots cars.
-
f@$k yea! Somehow I think it would most likely be out of most peoples price range. I want one with an M button.

It's usually printed on the sticker that comes with a new head gasket. Go to the ACL website and download the gasket catalog. The 3 stages of torque settings are in it.

I'm in love with my E32. Such an amazing car to drive for its' age. Comfy and safe for the family, yet despite it's size amazingly agile and sporty when you get it alone. It's not super quick off the line, but certainly adequate once moving. The things geared for cruising at 200kays plus all day. Definitely stands out from the crowd in a parking lot full of commodores/falcons and all the newer asian cars which all look the same after a while. Fuel well it isn't that bad. Best I've gotten is 10.5km/L on a country trip, today got 8.5km/L with a spirited run up Mt Glorious/Nebo (paid by work). I can handle it for the comfort/grin factor. I want some wider dishier rims for it later on. The alpina models had staggered rims with 17x10" on the back from the factory. Love the dish you can fit under the rear: The Germans are true innovators.
-
Maybe, but I figure if it is good enough for a 4age, then I don't really see a problem.
-
Sure am Rob on my 5k, and used to on the 4k in the lil wagon. Way quicker to build oil pressure after an oil/filter change.
-
Taz is that an e36 that your missus likes? If so find a manual 6 cyl version, be way more fun to drive. They aren't the biggest of cars though. An E34 is way cooler/bigger, find a 535i manual and build it to Alpina B10 specs. :lolcry: Not a big fan of the look of the Caldinas. Sure they would go well though. Wouldn't mind a Liberty/Legacy RS/GT/GTB wagon though. Missus loves the first shape, if I could find a low kay manual version the hasn't been raped by some young bloke, I'd consider one.

I've run into that with a valvoline filter on a k motor before. Ryco's aren't bad, or better still genuine toyota. I like running the smaller ryco z386's these days (4af/g type). Spin straight on.

Philbey, have you seen "No Man's Land" with Charlie Sheen and D B Sweeny? Watched it the other night after being prompted by this thread. It was nowhere near as cool as I remember it (last seen it about 20 years ago), but wasn't bad with a heap of nice old Porsche's in it. The main characters red cabriolet with polished Fuchs on it looked real nice.
-
I'm no fan of commodores, but the way I see it is you have a choice.... Don't click on the thread if you don't want to look at it. Seems one-eyed, narrow-minded bogans don't just drive fords and holdens these days. Example.
-
LOL, you are comparing a highly strung playtoy to a very mildly boosted family car. Hardly a direct comparison methinks. :no2:
-
True. We had twins 20 months after our first. 2 baby seats and a booster seat (with harness) across the back of an EH wagon, with a crab bar bolted behind the back seat for a legal restraint anchor. Thankfully the twins are nearly 10 now, so no longer any concern. It was fine throwing them in the back of the ke15/6 once they were big enough for a normal seatbelt, and you didn't need to cart a pram/stroller around. They are to big now to sit in the back of the ke15 comfortably for any length of time. Just thought it would be interesting (and it has) to hear peoples views.
-
Definitely. I'd advise holding your bolt/whatever with multigrips or something if you use this method. I learnt the hard way, once smashing my thumb open with a 1kg hammer while driving out a spigot bearing.
-
LukeAE71, you wanted them widened though. Just getting the centers moved would be a lot cheaper. How wide are the commodore pursuit rims, 7 inch? If 7 I guess you could cut out the centers and weld in ones from a Hyundia or whatever with the right PCD.
