  1. ^^ WRONG...there are 3 types. I have a all full sets on my shelf. Was early thin type, medium weight type and heavy one. By looking at them id use the medium ones for a high reving road/track car. Also the medium weight range ones are out of a dished piston 4K I wrecked so they seem to be a better engine so there prob the best rod also and Toyota in Japan new that that would be my guess. Also think Ill go with the spool rods. Anyone used them before? Cheers Cameron
  2. Just went out to shed and looked..... bigital camera broken so no pic but it is the same washer as one off my 3k/4k/5k/k engine crank pulley. Goes behind the big nut on the crank pulley. Cheers Cameron
  3. Hi, Found this KE1X original radio for sale: But it is in Japan. It is AM not FM and you can see the frequencies on the face plate. Are these the same frequencies as australian radios? If I buy it will it work here? Cheers Cameron
  4. ^^^ Dog looks like it frequently has eyes shut or asleep...still coming..LOL Cameron
  5. ^^^ The 5K is left over sitting there still...... Ill bring trailer tonight..LOL Cameron
  6. That is car porn. As for part numbers for this motor you will be supprised the druy sump pump on the front of the cam and that are off the shelf. In the ebay section a few weeks back I posted a yahoo link that had a few 3K-r engine parts the dizzy cap, crank conrods etc. Stuff is out there........But sadly my bank says no :) Cameron
  7. The JDM KE70 with the factory 5K was the KE74.... I have seen a few in the Brisbane area. Reason I keep an eye out for them is they all had K-T bell housing in them :) Cameron
  8. Phosgen gas was used back in the war also to kill the enemy. usless history lesson there. But to make phosgen gas from a can you need heat to start the reaction for it to form so I wouldnt worry to much. Id worry more about the crap in a can of diet coke or some thing killing you faster than spraying a can of brake cleaner. But it has been out of many cans for ages as it was a CFC. Another place phsgen gas can be found is in halon fire fighting stuff. Halon puts flames out then under the heat a LOT of phosgen gas forms adn poisions the whole area. Cheers Cameron
  9. Loaded with cash before I go |blink| ATMS always have a huge que. And touch the KE1X and ill be very unhappy :hmm: Cameron
  10. H must of been a few EFI K motors last year I jsut missed a 4K with the old 4K efi loom ecu all there for $150. Yes bargins to be had...only hours away till it starts folks...... Cameron
  11. ^^^ Yes I have emails spool all ready...LOL I jsut have noticed a lot of conrod makers list rods for the 3K/4K motor WTF 3K is smaller so I'm trying to get exact messurements on rods so I can cross reference and see if I can get a matching rod stronger/lighter/high reving etc. But on my way home from work hoping to be getting a spare 4K/5K rod off a mate so well see what I come up with. But I am looking at 150HP+ at the wheels hopefully out of this motor N/A but it might be reving hard so id like a nice bottom end :jamie: Cheers Cameron
  12. Kinda confused now. LOL With no bearing shell it is 45mm. That makes it about 42/43mm with them. Now I know early K motors have a smaller big end than later K motors like 4K / 5K so what were they? As a conrod manufacture has asked me what size my conrods are he said he has 43mm or 45mm conrods to suit a K motor so Id take it after Parrot your messurement his is also with out bearing shells making his 43mm rods the older K/2K conrod. Also 120mm centre to centre sounds right as in my head I had about 118mm. Also what was the thickness of the conrod Parrot? Cheers Cameron
  13. Hi, Well I'm kinda looking at building a nice K motor atm..LOL Man thing I am wanting to know is center to center and Big end width. I am building a 5K and I do belive 4K are same rod. But if there not please tell me. Cheers Cameron
  14. Hi All, Fast question what are the length of K motor corods? Are they all the same is it jsut the crank that was changed to give bigger stroke? As I kow the 3K and K motors have a 10mm shorter stroke than a 4/5K motor but I know the cranks are different. Can anyone tell me the length of a K motor conrod? Cheers Cameron
  15. Hey I go every year to this meet..LOL Best swap meet around in SEQ. Last year I scored a NOS twin SU mani to suit a K motor for $10 :) Get some serious bargins. Me and my dad some years are also selling old chev parts there sually get roasted in the sun but so worth it. Cheers Cameron
  16. I have also see 2 different types of 3K push rod. Do vary slightly in length so type of 3K moedl car it was from to help narrow down that type also. And again lots of different 5K ones need to be more precise so we can messure.
  17. Hi, Some nice photos there straight to wall paper :D But when zoomed I notice a air collecting pipe down near drivers side front wheel is this to cool the brakes? Also mre pics of how you mounted it etc and is it on the car 24/7? Also what class is this in with a 7K in it? Cheers Cameron
  18. YAY another KE going again. My KE30 has seen its share But has 555,643 KM on the clock original since new (has been in my family) So thre tanks. Once in anoteh KE of mine the cam in a 5K snapped (yes the cam shaft snapped) But the fragments lodged in a way to lock it together about 30 degrees out but with some carfull dizzy adjustment on side of the road it got me to and from UNI for a WEEK 120km round trip had to do it couldnt see mechanic no cash or parts to fix or time to do my self. Along comes weekend after driving for a week as it all happened on monday new cam adjust everything clean out sump new oil new lifters going again. Thing was wild to drive with..LOL poor mans VVT-i but it did it. So need a good daily can't go past a KE. Cheers Cameron
  19. As far as I know all Nolathane bushes for front eye of a corolla don't fit. The KE1X listed ones don't fit they fit KE20 I know but not 10 I have had this issue. But arent KE30 leaf fronts same as KE2X? TRy ordering a set of KE2X ones. Cameron
  20. Yes to fit TRD springs you do need to mod the head need a larger base under spring machined to hold both adn different retianers on the top. Ill get back to you on a part number of the 2T and 18R outer springs. But later ill post a pic of my TRD springs on a head so you can all see how they go together. Cameron
  21. Where to start. there are 2 types of stock spring for a K motor. Springs for solid springs for hydro lifters. Solid lifter springs load of: 31.8 KG or 70.1 Lbs. free length of: 46.5mm or 1.831 inches Installed length of: 38.4mm (all K motors) Hydro springs: Load of: 35.0 KG or 77.2lbs Free length: 48.0mm or 1.890 inches Installed length: 38.4mm Brand new valve springs when i last got a hydro set for a 5K were $90. So if your not hitting 8 grand a day jsut get soem hydro lifter springs better but not to much power will be sucked out. I used to have a set of dual springs for a K motor sold tem on here a while back bolt in fit didnt touch seal. I belive they were for a K motor not another one made to fit. But when talking to a few engine builders abotu dual springs they all seem to say they test there length so there ALL the same height, load all the same load, and calculate the best "frequency" they work at (more ona race engien last one). So they can match the spring to optimum rev range that will be seen. So have to factor a lot in. But the TRD springs for a K motor the outer one is a lot larger in diameter and the inner one is liek the size of a stock spring nearly. Inner spring is more for dampening at high RPM. Also on the valve springs like the suspension springs TRD colour coded tehm for different loads they had there are blue yellow and red springs you can get for your head. Part number for the TRD springs have a heap wont list them all BUT....In the stage 3K/4K TRD engine the valves springs are part number: 90501-RA401 (outer) 90502-RA401 (inner) These 2 part numbers are the same as the TRD 18R-G motor. So try seeing if stock 18R-G parts for a K series head. Also the inner TRD valve spring number for the stage 2 head is: 90502-KE051 This is also the same part number as the inner spring used on the 2T-G engine so again try using a 2T-G inner with possibly a holden 202 outer as there quite round so lots of mixing and matching can be done but again is it worth it a good single can do the job. But if you will be at high RPM for ages id get dual so the inner one dampens it all out. Cheers Cameron
  22. Hi, In my KE15 I have a rebuilt 5K and I shimmed hte oil pump. I put a shim in 1.99mm thick. At idle I run about 25PSI with cold oil. Soon as I hit 3000RPM I'm at 80PSI with cold oil. At this point the bypass opens so a pretty much 2mm shim ona good rebuilt motor expect 80PSI. When oil warms drops to like 70/65PSI. Cheers Cameron P.S. Using 20W-60 oil.
  23. here are heaps of differences in K box shifters. A KE1X and 2X box shifter is completely different to a KE3X/55/70 gear box. In the KE70 range there are 3 types of shifter alone. KE70 K50 use what I tem a small and large shifter. Large one is the same as a T50 shifter so a T50 one can be used (off a JDM t50 box) The small one is the same size as a KE55/30 5 speed one. Then the 3rd is the 4 speed one. As I make short shifters and when doing one for a KE70 box I have to make sure it is the small or large shifter first as there is a huge difference and they wont bolt together. So if you get a K50 from a car make sure you get the shifter from the car if you can as not as simple as jsut using any shifter. Reminds me I should add somethigntot eh FAQ about shifters as I do have about all the different ones in my collection.
  24. I went to super cheap took 2 days to come in. I got the $78 kit think it was had new pistons in it also  Try them there a rip off but hey they have them (got them back in June this year so should still be able to get them) Cheers Cameron
  25. ^^^ I take it he bought KE2X rebuild kits. Same caliper...
