It's good to have something to aim for. Are your 1:40-45 times for the short or long track. 1:40 for the long track is fair humming along. For reference the top three NC historic touring cars at last historic winton were doing 1:40's on the long track.
I prefer Sandown and P.I. myself just because they are easier for me to get too. Sandown is about 25min away from my place.
Do you have to wear safety boots on site hiro?
Try a pair of those "blue steel" boots, seriously as comfortable as my basketball boots. I've tried everything from Caterpillar to Oliver, even had a pair of Oakley ones non of them compare.
Ah you beat me to it. Those rb25 boxes are massive. I've got a fair bit of clearance around the FJ box in the 1600 but with a mates 1600 with FJ and same fit kit had to do a massive fabricated tunnel to get even a tight clearance.
As much as I hate to say it I do sorta, kinda, maybe like these just a little. A absolutely hate wrx's with a passion but the forester suits its purpose well. Looked after they last really well.
I'd be pretty sure the 2.5 turbo would bolt straight in. But I'm not sure how different the strength of the drive lines are.
Edit: Zowie that candy red one looks awesome!!!
Haha nah you know Godfrey is slower than BT in a straight line ATM. Suspension is getting there slowly, I'm half way through sorting the front end issues and my rear swaybar arrived Friday.
I'd think a well sorted "twinky" like Justin's with a mild modded GE(cams and ecu) should be plenty to harass that boosted MX5!! It's quick but those fwd ae chassis are fairly stiff! Webers seca picks up wheels going into his driveway!!! Speaking of which I'm trying to talk myself out of buying the hatch shell and bigport setup up he has. His was so fun to drive with the GE in it!!
What about a sev with a small amount of boost? 😂. If you want I can leave the front swaybar out of it and leave the street tyres on it. May give you both a small chance!!!
Nice pair of absolute awesome Fords you have!!
I've wanted a coupe for over 15 years!! Ever since I saw the green GT replica one, in a Ford mag I had back in high school.
Good mate of mine recently bought a GZE powered ae-82 which needed only minor body work and maybe a new set of tires and a screen for roadworthy for $1300. Came with engineers too. So I'd be expecting you'd be able to find stock neat(ish) twin cam for just under the $1000 mark. They aren't the fastest things out there, but they do have "giggle factor" in bucket loads!!
Well if you have the parts lying around you need to measure, measure and measure again.
You'll need to check the offset on the rotor before you even start. If the offset from hub to rotor face is close then you may have a chance to get the rotors to fit. Then you'll need to make an adapter bracket to make the caliper fit. Not saying it won't work as I haven't looked at it, but it may not be easy.
A cheap option on the ae82 front is to use the sv21 Camry caliper and 258mm GTI/SX ae-9x 258mm rotors. Not sure if the caliper is a bolt in deal on the ae-9x like it is ae-82's. hopefully someone can confirm this.
I just checked the link from the earlier set, they appear to be from different places(1st Melb, 2nd Balina) but the title is pretty much word for word, which had me thinking that it could still be the same set.
Haha saw the photo on Luke Fink's Instagram feed.
It looked like it was a fairly clean daily!! One less late mod datto on the road can only be a good thing though.
I would use the CNC lathe if there were 10 sets.
But I can turn you up a set by hand if you were desperate. Not sure how much just at the moment. I need to check prices on bar stock.
Yep. Pretty much what I was thinking!! 👍
A good mate I went to trade school with, has seen some very "cool" results with his water to air cooler on his 944 turbo. Seems to be the way to go these days.
I'd start by putting a 5 speed in it and an auto diff or centre in it. Usually auto diffs have a higher ratio so your acceleration will be better but with the 4 speed it will rev higher at cruising. Hence the need then for an extra gear.
You'd be suprised how much a set of diff gears will wake up a low powered car.
As I said in my text mate, I have to jack the back of my bt50 until the wheels are just about off the ground to get the rolla and the datto on and off car trailers.
