where is your guage sender though? is it right next to the thermostat? VDO is one of the cheapest around i thought. and its all aftermarket, not vehicle specific. oil pressure you are going to need the guage and the sender to suit the guage. that will probably cost you 100bucks, but thats pretty good i think. any pressure sender is going to be expensive, fairly complex thing to get accurate. edit: looks like the VDO oil pressure sender also incorperates the oil pressure light output as well. just hook that outpout up to a chunky bulb of some sort in your dash and your set.
-
how do you know they arent accurate? forget all the gay jap brands VDO is the only way. I don't see any defi guages on $200k+ yacht. but i will probably see a row of VDO's. and they look cool and old school too. edit: in my oppionion you only really need an oil pressure light, not a guage.
-
is the guage shorting out? if a sensor/guage throws up odd readings, first step....look into sensor/failures.
-
yeah you really need to know what the offset is. inches of dish doesnt really help unfortunately. they look alright though. 7.5" sounds good. Certainly a bit more reasonable than the 9"!

i don't think its a real race car, look at that bolt in cage. I don't think cams allows bolt in cages? might look ok with bettter wheels, i don't mind the paint for a race car. gotta stand out eh. though maybe only have 1 colour change, not 4.

here is another proposal, heres my route on nebo that i usually do with a few mates, the place for bbq'ing is mt glorious, we have had a few bbqs there, gotta make your own fire. this route you get nebo, glorious, bbq, do a u turn, glorious bit of nebo, down through samford, to the pie shop for an apple pastry (at samford), and head on home through the city, or wherever you live. attempting my internet skills again.... http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Waterworks+Rd&daddr=Mount+Nebo+Rd+to:Northbrook+Parkway+to:Main+St&hl=en&ll=-27.363535,152.83287&spn=0.242097,0.445976&sll=-27.367651,152.855015&sspn=0.060522,0.111494&geocode=Few_Xf4dGLwdCQ%3BFdinXv4dZBMbCQ%3BFexbX_4dcMIZCQ%3BFS5SXv4dmN0cCQ&vpsrc=6&mra=mi&mrsp=3&sz=14&t=h&z=12 start at A drive through to C - BBQ area drive back to B, take a left down to samford. apple pie at D. there are heaps of BBQs at the spot i showed at C, you just have to make your own fire. (wood usually provided, but we usually take a few newspapers to get us going) alot more driving involved here than the other route. its the good stuff. I'm happy to help out on this one, i can bring some foods etc. sausages/onions on bread usually does the trick. easy too. oh and to make life easier, i propse we meet atthe BP on water works road, a few k's from the start of the drive. shown here: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=BP+waterworks+road+qld+the+gap&hl=en&sll=-27.443773,152.952175&sspn=0.025441,0.069695&vpsrc=0&doflg=ptk&hq=BP&hnear=Waterworks+Rd,+The+Gap+Queensland+4061,+Australia&t=h&z=15 (how awesome are my internet skillz)

15x9 rota wheels will have the following effect on your ke70. -you will need to beat the hell out of your guards to make them "fit". even then they probably wont fit properly, and it will always look dodgy unless you are a panel beater, or weld in extra bits etc. -they will make your car go slower, as you will be lugging around an extra ~8kg per corner. -they will cost you a fortune brand new (compared to price of ke70) -any tyres to fit the wheels properly will cost you a fortune, and probably be hard to find. you woudlnt want to go much skinier than a 225 or 235 on a 9" wheel. good luck finding something that wide in 15" in a road tyre at a reasonable price. this will also throw out your spedo. -they will make your car handle alot worse as you will be probably doubling your unsprung weight on each corner. -they will make you stand out like a sore thumb to the cops -and when they do pull you over you will be defected for wheels too wide (legally you can go up to a 195 i belive, 155 + 30%), check the modification guide. -they will also defect you for increased track, you can only have 25mm extra either side (might even be total...), which is bugger all, but thems the rules. starting to get the idea;) look at something like a 15x7 +13 ish, in a lightweight alluminium wheel. somethign like an SSR mesh, or a rays engineering wheel. plenty of 80s styles to choose from. thats all you need on a ke70, a slight roll on all 4 corners to keep the tyres off your guards at full compression and extension. some 195/50/R15 tyres, in a semi slick tyre (which can be had for under $200/corner in that size), and you will be gripping and lookin good at the same time.

admitedly ive only been on that road once....its good fun though, just have to be becareful of the bridges, wood isnt as grippy as road. i only discovered it as my mate lives at coomera, and we usually do nebo, but this was a bit closer so we gave it a go. its certainly not as long as nebo, but good fun none the less. i drove from the highwy end to about where i placed that marker, then did a u turn and came back...at about midnight... there would be bbq's long there somewhere.

Noo not rotas! Too heavy.

leave the interiour as it is..... i like the white on grey colour, that looks cool. nice lookin mr2, ive always wnated to try one of these cars, interesting what rear mounted engine feels like through the twisties. love the epic 80s dash.
-
lets see how my internt skills are: this road is fun http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Springbrook+Rd&daddr=Antonson+Cres&hl=en&ll=-28.098938,153.300219&spn=0.022487,0.069695&sll=-28.154876,153.289404&sspn=0.060086,0.111494&geocode=FVImUv4dGZMiCQ%3BFfZ7U_4dgP0jCQ&vpsrc=6&mra=me&mrsp=0,1&sz=14&t=h&z=14

yeah the computer has an output for fuel pump, which goes into a circuit opening relay. which makes sure that if the engine stops, but ignition is still on, that the fuel pump stops. so if you crash, you don't have a fuel pump going feeding a potential fire if ign is left on.
-
11th dec sounds good. id rather avoid driving to the gold coast or anywhere near the spit. i can drive in stop start traffic in brisbane, don't need to go go the gold coast for that. mt tamborine perhaps? oh so long as you don't have any objections to a WRX attending:P
-
nah in a 4age you don't get a fuel prime when you hit the 'on' the fuel pump only goes when it is cranking or it is running.
-
sure you can't make the FD fit? how cool is this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ymq7JS42rQ
-
have you taken into account the wheel offsets? as the track given is the centre of the wheel to centre of wheel, and i dunno what the standard FC wheel size is, but if its say +25, thats an extra 25mm either side (50mm) on your measurement? (if comparing it to your 1380mm)
-
i believe the FD has one of the most sohpisticated IRS setups going around. something to do with the camber change, it keeps the same amount of camber through its whole travel? something like that. very coo, but yeah not for a conversion. what about the datsun 1600s? some of them are IRS, and pretty small. i belive its a fairly primitive IRS setup.
-
gday mate, i think your decision will be based on: -RWD IRS (obviosly) -small...ish -common -simple not very common...in aus at least. how about a suzuki cappucino? perhaps a bit too small...and not common. or an FC rx7? have to check the wheel track here... BMW e30? probably too big like s13.
-
the gearstick is incredible. and that steering wheel.....words can not describe.
-
let me know if you need a hand mate, can help with bolting or wiring. this is 4age in a ke yeah? easy!
-
you sure about that travel thing? is that photo up there with the car on the ground? as i can only see abotu 2" of bump travel before the shock bottoms out. looks good otherwise though.
-
got a budget mate? i reckon you want to spend as much as you can on shock absorbers. edit: any suspension that shakes the filings out of your teeth is garbage and wont handle any good anyway.
-
does your setup retain the little condensor on the distributer? that went on my old 4k, caused all sorts of dramas like you describe. you could do a compression test and if you get a decent result, that should be enough to prove the cam is in good enough? (at least good enough to run remotely well)
-
i think for the interest of the forum, we need some pics:P i wouldn't drive it until you check it out though, you might have damaged the oil pick up pipe. engines don't like running with no oil.
